Preconceived notions, I apologize Steven
12 June 2023
When I first found out that Steven was making a movie about his life my first reaction was "wow, that's a conceited thing to do" so, I really wanted to dislike this film even before watching.

So, I skipped it at the theaters, did read some reviews and there were a lot of mixed ones. Watched the trailers and I admit those made it look half good. I figured I'd just wait till it streaming then I'd give it a go.

This afternoon I did just that, sat down in my rocking chair and watched 'the Fabelmans' and after it had ended and the credits were rolling my first thought was 'I apologize Steven'

I now know that it wasn't out of some conceited place or Steven trying to pay tribute to his own career. Instead it's a film about his family and it's dysfunctions and milestones that would eventually lead Steven to be the wonderful filmmaker we all love.

It's obvious now that Steven was the only one that could of written and directed this film.

Now, I can understand if there's questions on 'why' he made this film. Why expose his family's dirty laundry? Why stir up controversial moments but all these things led to Steven becoming the filmmaker he is.

In the end I was very pleasantly surprised by this film. I laughed, I was aggravated and at times very moved and inside all of those emotions we have tidbits on Steven falling in love with filmmaking. It's always present in the film but really it's not the focus. It's his family, the love he has for them and those struggles to keep it all together.

Good job Steven and thank you for such a wonderful career and so many great memories you have given to me and my family.

If Kubrick and Coppola had a baby....
3 October 2022
Sometimes film makers go out of their way to try to make obscure films to make us believe they are ultra intelligent and in the end produce garbage.

Here I believe the intelligence shown was indeed a brilliant and necessary way of telling the tragic story of Norma Jean.

Each scene is shot in such a way to make the viewer feel what Norma is feeling, to put you in her uncomfortable shoes each minute

Ana's acting is so on the mark and I so hope so much she is awarded for her efforts.

The script is beautiful and each scene so very well thought out. It seems that extensive research was done on her life. Even if only 1% of this story is true what an incredible one it is.

I'd like to talk about the hate this movie has been getting... I believe it's not do to the obscurity but do to the woke society we live in today.

I believe there is a strong movement to cancel this movie because of the tragic way abortion is presented. Norma even says a line while watching the 'seven year itch'.. 'I killed my baby for this?' Then showing the leftist poster boy Kennedy as a womanizing ass hat.

I think if those 2 things were left on the editing room floor the movie would be getting wall to wall praise. Is it a movie that I'll watch again and again? Probably not but is it worth one watch? Most definitely.

If you're a fan of Kubrick and Coppola please do yourself a favor and give it a try. Ignore the hate, it deserves to be watched.

I went in with low expectations but was surprised
20 August 2022
It's hard to tell how good or bad this show is going to be with just one episode aired but I do have to say I was pleasantly surprised.

After the very terrible 'Ms Marvel' series I thought from the advertisements that this one would be just as bad. But instead I found it fun and entertaining.

Mark R. Appearance really aided in making the show feel comfortable. I wonder though that without him in it if She Hulk can stand on her own green feet? Let's give it a couple more episodes before drawing that conclusion.

In reality I wanted to give this episode a 7.5 but IMDb doesn't allow for half points. Plus the 8 score helps to bring up the average from those rating it a 3 or lower.

So far, fun writing and good characters.. I look forward to the next episode

Pointless
28 May 2022
I know the point of this episode is to setup the plot and introduce new characters but come on! So much pointless fluff, boring and even the 80s pop references felt forced and exaggerated. The last season left me feeling like there was hope this show would return to the originality and genius of season 1 but instead it's turned into a B rated version of Pretty In Pink.. I'll give it one more episode and if nothings changed.. I'm done.

Zero good about this movie
12 March 2022
I'm a huge Pixar fan but there was nothing redeeming about this movie. Bad story and too childish. Felt like some low budget animation studio put this together and not the great Pixar. Come on guys, you're better than this.

A let down
29 November 2021
I don't want to give anything away. The movie was good until the final act happened. Up to that point the story had me sucked in. I really cared about the main character. But the end fell apart badly and didn't fit the main body of work. It was like two different people wrote it. So I gave it a 6 rating. 8 for the bulk and 4 for the crap ending.

Twilight Zone it's not
23 March 2021
Equivalent to a really bad episode of the twilight zone. The film makers try real hard to make you think they're being super intelligent but you see through the plot as soon as the child shows up. Only worth a 3 because of the acting which the couple pulls off very good. Why both signed on to this lousy script though makes me scratch my head.

Painfully slow
30 December 2020
I can only imagine making the pitch for this script to a board of investors and producers. Then having a majority actually rising to their feet and applauding this mundane and painfully slow script.

I always give myself 3 episodes to make an opinion on weather to keep watching or not. Something actually interesting happens in episode 3 to keep me hoping something redeeming would happen soon so I kept watching through episode 5. Without spoiling anything I can say nothing redeeming happens.

It's time for Ridley to put an end to his android fixation and charter a new SciFi course. I had allot of hope for this to work but in the end just a colossal waste of time and money.

Critics Need to relax
21 September 2020
Is it the best Will Smith movie? No. Is it his best in awhile? Yes. It's just a good action flic, if your a lover of Will Smith action movie then you won't be disappointed. Seems that allot of reviewers and critics had their minds made up before even watching. Enough, just relax, watch and escape for crying out loud!

Artemis Failure
13 June 2020
Felt like a made for TV flick or straight to video release. Pointless characters that add nothing to a very thin story. A bad guy that serves no purpose. A hero boy that you never feel a connection with. The fairy girl was the only redeeming character that kept this review from being a 1. Please Disney don't waste time making a sequel to this.

Ultimate version worth the 9
12 April 2020
Please do yourself a favor and watch the 'Ultimate Cut' of this film. It adds 30 mins and adds much needed continuity to the story. I wish the studio would have left the ultimate cut version alone instead of hacking it apart like they did for the theatrical release.

Dark fate... why the hate?
11 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
After reading reviews here before seeing the movie, I was fearful to watch. but as the movie rolled I kept expecting disappointment.. and thankfully it never arrived.

I'm convinced now that quite a few reviewers went in to the movie with their minds already set on hate. While I can understand ratings anywhere between 5 and 7, ratings under 5 I found are very exaggerated and forced.

Is Dark Fate better than 1 & 2? No. Is it better than all that followed? Yes. The number one complaint about it destroying the main story line is wrong. At the end of T2 sky-net was pre-destroyed.. all chips gone. Sarah and John saved humanity. Sarah knows when 1997 comes and goes that they won. So.. after 1997 passes John is no longer key.

Fast forward now to another possible future and guess what yet another company rises to take Sky-nets place and yet again humanity is almost destroyed. And it's version of Kyle Reese and John Conner plays out.

I find it all very plausible that no matter what happens in the terminator universe that humanities demise is always around the corner and that dark fate just keeps getting delayed by some version of Sarah and Co. and her ilks.

If your sick of time traveling terminators then this movie isn't for you. If you want to experience the best story and action since T2 then this movie is for you.

Just go, put your mind in neutral and enjoy the ride. Dark Fate, stop the hate.
