Ralph Styles Ultra (2018)
Styles Ultra
Haha, I really loved this short movie. Why did I love it? Let me say, I was charmed by this movie. I highly enjoyed the soundtrack, the dialogue and evolving story.
The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover (1989)
I'd urge anyone that is thinking about watching this movie to dive into this film now.
I knew I had to write a review for this movie, and months later I'm back to do just that. Firstly, this movie is surreal. It toes the line between realism and surrealism, for example some of the absurd humor or comical acting could never occur in reality but in this world, it makes sense. The beautiful use of color, and it's haunting soundtrack truly make this a vibrant and surreal viewing experience. The acting is phenomenal!
Don't Look Up (2021)
Concerning but lighthearted movie
I really enjoyed watching this movie that felt a little real. The acting was great and though I didn't find the movie that funny, it was an overall fun to watch. Would highly recommend to those that just want to chill on a weekend and enjoy a movie with a bottle of wine.
Last Night in Soho (2021)
Would recommend it
This movie seemed to start off slow, and it's direction was hard to define but as the movie progressed I found it engrossing and visually beautiful to watch. It's packed with action, a unique plot and twists and turns, I would highly recommend it to the film lover.
Possession (1981)
Disappointed
I really wanted to like this movie, but I guess my expectations were too high to match the reality. Throughout the viewing experience of this movie, I felt bored and uninterested which doesn't happen often. I didn't feel emotionally invested or have any emotional connection to any of the characters.
Positives:
- Fast paced storyline
- Great actors/acting (though can get overdramatic which some might dislike)
- Has an artistic edge to it (For those that like art films)
Negatives:
- The Characters and storyline seemed to lack depth (which could make you feel uninterested in the chain of scenes)
- Soundtracks felt misplaced at times
- Some of the camera work and shots seemed unnecessary (which seemed to annoy me pretty quick)
Some will enjoy this movie, but if you're wondering whether to watch this movie, maybe you may want to reconsider another one.
The Phantom of the Opera (2004)
A cinematic masterpiece
As a first time seeing an adaptation of "The Phantom of the Opera", I have to say seeing this adaptation was a beautiful experience. I was enchanted from the start, the songs filled me with delight and the performances were wonderful. All the while I was just appreciating the artistic merit. A cinematic masterpiece.
Gisaengchung (2019)
Best of 2019!
Parasite came along just when I thought I'd seen the best 2019 had to offer. The movie progressed elegantly like an amazing musical piece.
The depth of the characters and the story kept me glued to my seat hoping the credits wouldn't roll. And when the credits did roll, I stared at the black screen in a moment of contemplation, thinking, this is what cinema should be. Absolutely recommend this to anyone who hasn't seen it. 10/10
Mulholland Dr. (2001)
Film of Art
I've watched a couple of David Lynch's films and this so far is his masterpiece; his gift to the world.
The experience was surreal and 2 days later, the movie is still haunting my mind. David Lynch uses film as a canvas for his artistic expressions in his own unique way.
Anyone that's a fan of film and artistic merit should watch this. Mulholland Drive is a movie that shows the power of film.
