Doraemon (1979)
Holds a special place in my Heart.
Doraemon isn't perfect. When viewed objectively, it is simply not a masterpiece. BUT, how boring would the world be if we viewed everything objectively, lacking the zeal and passion that is an integral component of our very being.
In a way, Doraemon is like my mother- I know that she isn't perfect, but I love her to the moon and there is nobody who can replace her. And just like that, not a thing in existence can replace Doraemon for me. It defined a major part of my childhood, shaping my memories along the way. I still giggle reminiscing the awe with which I used to adore my television time with Doraemon (And those gadgets, oh those beautiful little gadgets). The curiosity, the giggles, and the emotions that this show carries is beyond anything that I might ever experience in my life.
I'm running short on time, but I can praise this show all day long. I'll end by giving it the highest compliment that I can conjure- Doraemon IS my childhood. And this review is a love letter to my childhood.
Mission Over Mars (2019)
Fake reviews
I haven't watched the show, I admit that upfront. But by simple logic one can tell that it is not possible to have 609 reviews on a show that has less than 200 ratings.
Shingeki no Kyojin: The Basement (2019)
Nice continuation
As a continuation, I must say that that this episode was nice. But it fell short on a few parameters.
The negatives:
1.The animation was not up to the mark in quite a few scenes. I think the animators ran out of steam due to the past few episodes. And this is not a good sign for the following episodes.
2. The basement reveal was not as big as it was hyped up to be, at least for me. It kind of left me underwhelmed.
The positives:
1. That walk that the four protagonists took to Eren's house was brilliantly executed. The music, the flashbacks, everything about that scene was perfect, and it came as a surprise to me as a Manga reader.
2. The soundtrack was quite good throughout the episode.
What I feel is that this episode was necessary. And had it not been for the constant 'hints' given in season 2, the reveal would've been much more impactful. So, the blame must go to season 2, not so much to this episode.
Shingeki no Kyojin: Midnight Sun (2019)
Silence
The first 20 minutes of this episode lack any form of soundtrack, and dare I say this has been the best use of a soundtrack ever.
The silence in the background is as much a main character as anyone else here. They even went as far as including no opening song. And it was an exceptional decision.
Having read the manga, I didn't expect this episode to hit me so hard. The voice actors blew me away with the portrayals of their emotions. When the soundtrack actually came in the last 4 minutes or so, it almost made me cry.
One of the best episodes, and I am getting tired of saying this.
Shingeki no Kyojin: Hero (2019)
Highest Point of the series
As of now, this episode has a 9.9 rating, which unfortunately has started attracting trolls, who are giving it 1 star just to bring it down. See I get it, you guys don't like AOT, it's fine, but there is no way in nine worlds that this episode deserves a one star.
Now coming to the review, I absolutely loved this episode. This is one of the only few shows that has gotten progressively better with each season, and that is a very tough task to accomplish.
