Ay Juancito (2004)
Decent attempt but with some flaws
This a movie that it's focused in Juan Duarte, the brother of Evita. A man of the night, personal secretary of Juan Domingo Peron, called Lux Soap because one of ten celebrities use it. The plot is good but there are several flaws with the actors. Jorge Marrale (Peron) and Laura Novoa (Evita) can't recreate the essence of their characters and also happens with the rest of the casting. Adrian Navarro (Juancito) brings a solid, frenetic performance. Maybe the highest achievent of Hector Olivera was to plant the seed of a possible homicide instead of a suicide, the benefit of the doubt. Only a good movie that nails in revamp the accidental life of Juancito.
Oxford Blues (1984)
Quite generic
This film in my opinion shows Rob Lowe for teenager fans. The rest lacks of script, hooks, actings, even the history is plain and uninspired. The nice guy travel to England to know the girl of his dreams and the British despised him (In Oxford) but he succeed. Also the British characters are boring, tedious, predictable. I don't want to spoil but it's only a film to remember the eighties and Rob Lowe and Ally Sheedy (Maybe the strongest point). The rest can't be much more accomplished and has some real flaws... specially on the script aspect. The scenes of rowing towards the river and competitions are the best of this movie. Only for fundamentalists of Rob.
Being There (1979)
Amazing, Peter Sellers incredible.
I remember when I saw for the first time this movie on TV in Buenos Aires (My native city). In 1984 I believe. I was fascinated with Chauncey's personality. A gardener that never walked away from his house, had absolutely no connection to the rest of the world despite his love with the gardens and flowers. This movie has and unique dynamical and I don't want to spoil with my review. Just watch Sellers shine here, and a very beautiful and sensitive Shirley McLaine. An unique piece of art that shows some parts quite mysterious and how supposed people that have power could be cheated. Oh by the way, "I like to watch", so go and if you don't see this movie yet, for sure you will see something quite different. And for me that it is a strong value.
Death Wish 3 (1985)
Sublime display of power and lots of laugh in it
Charles Bronson was well known for this work at the first movie of this saga. Two movies and eleven years later he has white card to come back to NYC and kill... everything I should say. The fact is that DW3 is basically tons of bullets, people falling down from the buildings, explosions, World World II weapons, neighbors being molested plus gangs rioting in a bizarre mode. To be honest I've laughed the 50% of the movie (A LOT), but this is genuine, I can take this film "seriously" as I can take to mention for example "The Godfather". Here we have a lot of fun, a briefly date of Charles with a woman and... rock and roll!. Grab a beer, watch it and enjoy it!. Put the body count and scream yeah!
Melody (1971)
A masterpiece plenty of love an innocence.
I remember when I saw for the first time this movie on Argentinian TV. I was only 10 y/o. About three days ago chatting with a friend we remembered this film. Thanks to Internet I had the chance to see it again.
"Melody" shows two kids (Melody and Daniel) that are dealing with school. Things happens and they became closest friends... and more. But their love is brilliantly exposed, focused on the "child" belief. Excellent songs of Bee Gees, stories that reminds our childhood, "love" as an "innocent" and good thing, you will not be disappointed with the locations, script, and the solid interaction between Daniel and Melody.
A kind of movie that nowadays does not exist. What a beautiful piece of art.
