Iraivi (2016)
Big disappointment
I am a big fan of Vijayasethupathi. That is the reason why i took my family for this movie on the opening weekend. But this movie turned out to be a BIG disappointment. Following are some reasons 1) There is a hype created for this movie that it is about a few good women. But itis ONLY for advertisement. One of the women's character(a widow) was so badly scripted that she is expressing her bedroom desires openly. Not sure why the sensor board missed those scenes. Though S.J.Surya didn't direct this movie I guess he might have influenced these scenes to keep alive his usual movie trend.
2) The directer has not just failed to make a movie about good women but he has also disgraced all the men characters in the process, by projecting them sooo badly. There was a role where one of the actor falls in love with his brother's wife. Definitely there is no positive thinking at all. With the director already lost women's support now he has lost the men's support also. I am really not sure what kind of audience he is trying to impress.
3) Violence in the movie was extremely high. There were some murder scenes with real effects. This film clearly deserves A certificate.
3) Not sure why the movie was named 'Iraivi'(Statue of a woman God). The whole movie is expected to be centered around that title but the movie was heading in some other direction. To add to that there were a few scenes which were related to that title, which created some expectations but later doubled the disappointment during the course of the movie.
4) I really doubt that Vijayasethupathi had properly listened to the script before accepting for the movie. Because his role was really dummy and it didn't get anything good out of him. Looks like he was lured into the movie only for advertisement sake.
5) S.J. Surya's direction is a lot better than acting. Last scene in the movie is the best proof for that, where he tried some Sivaji style acting which looked really miserable.
6) I have no comments for Bobby Simha's acting. Looks like his acting in Jigarthanda will be his best FOREVER.
The only reason I am giving rating 2 instead of 1 is , there was a baby character in the movie whose performance was much better that the rest of the team.
