So good - a step back in time!
9 November 2006
It's no exaggeration to state that Parsley the Lion and his friends are my favourite children's TV characters ever. I've feel rather sad that this little champion of childhood has been largely forgotten by TV executives today as, in my opinion, it would fair very well against any of the modern toddler shows.

Written by Michael Bond - remember him, of Paddington Bear fame? - these are imaginative, innocent, and often side splittingly funny, bizarre stories with well defined characters. It is one of those children's shows that has those little hidden jokes that only an adult will pick up on, so its not a drag to sit and watch with your little ones.

They do have an educational side to them, but Michael Bond never lets that stand in the way of a good old fashioned yarn. There's very little educational benefit in a green lion, with a bucket on his head (instead of a crash helmet) climbing a bean stalk! Of course, I'm totally biased in my overly enthusiastic love of the show as I've rather a large collection of Parsley memorabilia, but if it wasn't good, I wouldn't remember it with such passion would I?! If, like me, you're the type of person who yearns after the good ol' days then buy it and encourage the TV toffs to repeat them so our kids can enjoy it all over again. You won't regret it...join us....
