Happy End. (2005)
Very nice horror film, even better considering the low budget
Well, how to start,
I've seen the movie today at the Fantasy Film Festival in Hamburg and thought it was really good. Another nice aspect was that the director of the Film was on site and first off did a little introduction and was doing a Q&A after the Movie.
The storyline starts with an author, who had one successful book, move to another apartment as he needs more inspiration to go on with his work. He chose a flat where once a man and his daughter lived, who both died in a car accident, 7 years ago. He has to clean up the whole apartment, as it wasn't inhabited for the last years and is full of cobwebs, dust and dirt. But some mysterious things happen...
One thing I liked is the tension being loosened, getting the audience/viewer to even laugh, just to shock them the next moment again. If a rating existed for low budget films (the overall costs for the movie were 10000 (!)) it would be a 10/10. You barely get to see the lack in the budget compared to a Hollywood production. (OK, no top of the line special effects, but this movie gets along well without)
It's my first review on site here, so I hope it helps.
