Amy (III) (2015)

Pretty sentimental!
27 December 2017
This is a very emotional movie. It gets you to know the real side of Amy Winehouse's history. You'll get to know the fragile human being that was hiding behind those drugs and alcohol. A girl who just wanted to express herself and impress the world with her beautiful and unique voice. Pretty well made, it may bring you to tears. It doesn't have anything fake in it.

A totally waste of time

The film has a weak start and ends the same. I don't know what was I expecting from that review. It's a silly story, predictable, it was only made with the finality of being liked. Generally, the performances were a mess, even the soundtrack was annoying. Sincerely, I don't recommend this movie, don't waste your time.

Roots, family, identity.

Warning: Spoilers
The beginning of the film is outstanding. The film's emotions make it a really powerful piece. In order to make a proper review to this movie, I have to divide it in two. The first part: It leaves you completely captivated. It's brilliant the way dialogues weren't completely necessary, and when they appeared, they did it in the precise time. Very different from the second part, that appeared of a sudden, in this section the dialogues seemed even forced sometimes. This section is colder. Sadly, the movie loses a lot of strength in the middle, but in the last scenes, the strength and the emotive are back.

The film as a whole contains a lot of remarkable aspects, such as the touching performances, especially the ones by Dev Patel and Nicole Kidman, -which basically saved the second part of the movie from being too soulless and weak compared to the first one- also the beautiful photography and the remarkable soundtrack. It's impossible not to cry with this movie. If you're lucky, it'll touch you deeply the way it did with me. Definitely, it deserved more recognition in the Oscars than La La Land.

Return to Sender (I) (2015)
Unmemorable.
5 March 2017
They could have done something better with the subject, but instead, they made a very predictable film. I had the feeling that something was missing through the whole film. It's one of those that you easily forget, there is nothing memorable. Probably the only good things were the performance by Nick Nolte and Rosamund Pike.

A reminder of not staying static.

I must say this movie surprised me. It's beautiful and made me fall in love with the 70's again. An amazing sense of humour and an enjoyable soundtrack. With characters trying to do everything to avoid ending up their lives the way everyone wants them to. I highly recommend this movie. You should always dare to do what you feel you have to do.

It's not my fault, I'm inspired.

Powerful performances, interesting characters.

I highly recommend this movie. It's one of those movies that worth watching. Good performances. The main character, a really clever and complex boy will make you more and more interested. The performance by Emory Cohen is very powerful. I have to say that this movie caught me since the beginning. If you feel a particular interest in independent films, you should watch this one.
