Last Episode Of Hyde-White As Martin Peyton
6 September 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Both men did fine jobs in the part, but Macready was born to the part due to his villainous roles throughout his career.Always think of Hyde-White as the good guy,or from My Fair Lady.PP was lucky to get him to fill in while Macready fought severe illness. This was a good episode,as were all episodes with Martin Peyton.Have to admit he's why I resumed watching at this stage of my life.We watched PP when it originally aired, and it is THE BETTER of today's renditions. No Victor fro YAR can compare to any PP baddie, and Martin Peyton was the granddaddy of all the nasty characters, but he had more class than all of them. The Adrienne engagement to Peyton I thought was a hoot. The young beauty an he old coot!LOL!Will continue to watch as long as episodes available on dvd or online!

Warning: Spoilers
Great movie!Better than Murder On The Orient Express.Thought Kevin Eldon was from Hot Fuzz, another LOL to me.It was played seriously enough, all actors did a nice job.Saw it on DRAMA in UK this week,Bank Holiday Weekend. Will try to find on dvd.Loved when everyone got the smell of eggs on the coach, and the retribution.

I Liked IT!
21 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Good horror movie, ala Nightmare On Elm Street. Not as gruesome, which is why I liked this movie. Some good actors,I liked Peter Berg & Michael Murphy best, but Mitch Pileggi excels,as usual.Too bad this didn't make as much money as it should have,it really is black comedy, and I really cared about the characters.

Loving Tribute To Great Band
20 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Can remember we were planning on seeing Skynyrd on 1977 tour in Hartford. So shocking the news in October 1977 of the band's plane crash.Six died in the crash, but so many more musicians and singers who were the band have since died of cancer and other illnesses.Amazing the group getting its start in 1964,the climb to the top.Never realized they toured with ZZ Top or The Stones.Billy Powell, who started as a roadie, was an amazing keyboardist, and their guitarists wer terrific.May the group never be forgotten, even if this is supposed to be the final tour.

Thought It Was The Last Episode Of Series,Hope Not!
3 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Played last night on StarzencWesterns. All the episodes I've seen prove how great the TV Westerns were, and some excellent actors.Sara Lane is said to have had minimal experience in acting, but she's wonderful.Tim Matheson has that grin he became known for in Animal House, but I'd rather be known for my series work in a quality long-run show like The Virginian amongst such great regulars as James Drury,John & Heannette McIntire (I know she's Ms Nolan, but they were married in real life),Doug McClurg,Clu Gulager,Charlie Bickford to name only a few and the quality guest stars! At first, thought this was going to be how the series concluded, with Shiloh burned to the ground.Glad it wasn't!

Safe From These Guys
1 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
That our heroine has to continue to fend off sleazebags who bring to mind the Metoo movement and Harvey Weinstein (that's who I immediately thought of while fighting nausea watching the gross warden/jailer of the island),not to mention some of the less contemptible denizens of the story. My favorite acting was by Jones, the lawyer played admirably by Charles Middleton.Dorothy Mackaill was excellent as the wronged woman, forced to flee NOLA due to believing she's killed the man who forced her into prostitution,Piet played by Ralf Harolde, the squirmy doctor from Night Nurse in 1930.Surprised at "Gramps" character turning out to be a killer,he seemed so mild-mannered in comparison to Vic Varconi's General Gomez,John Wray's Egan, and the nastiest character, the jailer-if I'd face hanging vs jail to provide him with benefits,I'd choose suicide, never give him the satisfaction of pawing me as he lowers the noose.

Warning: Spoilers
Shows you what good writing and acting can accomplish!Try creating something of this cliber today.Thought the girl was Shirley Temple at first, but Joan Carroll is the actress. She is surrounded by a top-notch cast, loved seeing Ruth Warrick as Pat,her relative. The gang,Jitters,Piggy,Stogie are LOL funny!Loved the scenes they wer in,especially Tom Kennedy, usually a hulking terror, but here,a lovely person.Paul Guilfoyle comes along and the plot thickens with an actual kidnap plot which turns out happily.

Hams On Wry
26 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Henry Hull & John Carradine chewed the scenery.Loved Carradine defending his trees. Expected Henry Hull to pull out the arrow and keep on keeping on.Macmurray good as hero. Plenty of bloodshed,William Bishop is related to Helen Hayes by marriage,he playing the Capt assigned to wagon train. Anyone watching a Western has to realize the scripts were written many years ago and things are not PC.Take that into consideration before commenting on someone else's remarks, or reactions to old films. Today's retreads can't compare, the Seth Rogen's and some other alleged writers are not PC,just posers many times,IMHO!And many of today's actors can't act better than Soap Opera stars which is pretty lame. At least many of the stars prior to 2000 had stage training and class.

24 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Great WLIR,and its story as a New Wave Station,or at least one that was playing great music while others sold out. Some of the DJs,Larry "The Duck" Dunn,Lori Majewski (pardon me if I misspelled your name,Lori),are on Sirius XM Station 33,my favorite and they play many of the hits featured on New Wave:Dare To Be Different.Any documentary that prominently features Joan Jett,Billy Idol (Absolutely fanatical about Dancing With Myself!),Depeche Mode,Midge Ure (not only noted for his tremendous contribution to Live Aid with Sir Bob Geldof,Thompson Twins. So glad this has been shown and will continue to watch each time it airs.Rock On!

Finally On TV Today
19 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Have the series of movies on dvd. This movie started it all.Mike Landon Jr good director.Great acting.Maybe some expect a movie has to have profanity and sex and special effects to be watchable, but when that's your requirement,go to an amusement park or arcade because you're missing out on life. This movie holds my interest from start to finish because it tells an honest story about characters who are worth caring about.Loved seeing the third generation Macready gentleman here,Oliver Macready.Loved Dale and Corbin!

Sam Elliott & Peter Weller
9 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
They work well together, but understand Weller is TOO intense.Love Sam,though.Corrupt cops nearly get away with it all, both heroes only just escape death.Weller is a real nerd here,Sam his usual cool dude.Great support all around, even if I rooted for the cops to fail. They did,all were pretty sleazy.Especially loved when Mr Porsche got his for his role in losing evidence.

Some Amazing Cast
8 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Well,I'm not mentioning Kim Richards role,as I've got to rewatch again tonight to see her.Joston,Walker,Laurie Zimmer,Tony Burton are outstanding,as is Frank Doubleday RIP.Did not expect such a powerful film, giving as it's only Carpenter's second as director,a Rio Bravo-type,appreciate it more knowing that.As to the Ghosts Of Mars comparison, watched Ghosts in theater, and everytime it's on cable and I love it!Jason Statham before he became really famous,Pam Greer,Natasha Henstridge,Ice Cube all did good jobs, the zombie parts a little bit much, but okay.Maybe the special effects didn't live up to some people's qualifications, but I could care.Ghosts and Assault on Precinct 13 (1976) get my full recommendations.

Good Murphy"s Law Tale
7 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Watched because this show is great TV.Myron Healey is Big Matt, who at the beginning is cured by a Madstone, curing him of possible gangrenous condition. We hear from The Old Ranger that many times this was the only thing the settlers could depend on since medicine was not up to today's standards.Soon,Matt's father-in-law,played by the formidable George Macready happens on the scene,a mean old rancher who owns most of the land around,a sort of anti-Ben Cartwright, who rules his family with an iron fist. He's non too nice to his grandson, especially when the son comes to visit his mother to tell her of his snakebitten arm,and who's given a good eartwisting for being harsh to the boy. When the grandson collapses, gramps relents and brings him to the mother, and he soon realizes the error of his ways and soon partners with Big Matt, and reconciles with his daughter.Good resolution to what might have been disastrous from being prideful.

Well Worth Watching
4 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Had to watch after friend put me on to this show.Reality, the kind of reality show I will watch.Saw the case of Darlie Router portrayed,a mother convicted and sentenced to die for supposedly killing her kids.Did not realize the events happened two decades ago, until pointed out here.Viola Davis does a terrific job in producing the cases, and having the actual participants is essential to help understand all that happened so many years ago. Will continue to watch, this is quality television.

My Favorite Year,At Least So Far
27 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Just finished watching Series 5,can't wait for Series 6.Bought from UK,as couldn't wait to see episodes now airing on PBS.Quite an eventful season, threat of closure of the station, threat of Thursday's retirement,Morse in conflict with new DC Fancy. My only gripe is the 1960s having so much bedhopping, mainly Morse and the weekly girlfriend.A real comraderie,or so it seems amongst the cast.Have come to like DS Bright, and love the Medical Examiner.Have watched every Series, this is my favorite,an ongoing storyline of truck highjackings. The episode "Icarus" is the finale for season and use of drugs amongst the boys public school (like our boarding schools) is shocking, but it is 1968 this season.

Dan O'Herlihy As Arrogant Attorney
20 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Funny that George Macready wasn't playing the O'Herlihy role,he's so often the arrogant character.O'Herlihy plays Marbury,a high profile attorney accused of murder.O'Brien is asked to defend him by a senior partner, played by George Macready. This is a well-done series, and I'm thrilled to have found the entire run on dvd.Episodes look really good, both leading men,Richard Rust is co-star are quite good.Grace Lee Whitney, later of Star Trek fame appears.Too bad the MeToo movement wasn't around when her career was destroyed after she was attacked during Star Trek, not only her life, but her career. My apologies for mentioning her career.Too bad she wasn't in a series like this one,but thought she was treated unfairly for being victimized by a studio executive.

Found the entire series of Profiles In Courage available on ebay.Thought this was strictly about JFK,and was thrilled to see the list of episodes which was every episode in the one series done.Glad to see Carroll O'Connor as Grover Cleveland, and there are so many stars and future stars listed for this series, however brief a run.Beats the heck out of what's passed off as programming today.I rarely watch network tv unless something is outstanding,as if,or on PBS!

Good Movie
10 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This IS a very hard to find movie, found it on a DVR tape.Good movie, the pilot of a sort for TV series Name Of The Game, this one has George Macready in the soon to be Gene Barry role as publisher to Tony Franciosa.Would've been interesting if Macready was returning for the series,he still seemed healthier here, wwhereas he became quite ill the following year during Peyton Place late summer 1967.Many great character actors in this investigation of a call girl's death.

Didn't Expect To Like This
5 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Started watching today, expecting nothing as it was given one star rating. What I saw was something that impressed me almost as much as Attack Of The Lederhosen Zombies, and that is a favorite at our house. It has Rupert Graves AND Rufus Sewell,so that attracted me at once because I love them both.Devon Sawa,Joe Absalom,Al Large from Doc Martin, who was great here,IMHO,among others. So,it's a bit farfetched with a terrorist group, but the stunts weren't distracting, found myself easily rooting for our heroes, especially ROOF (Sewell),and Joe Absalom,LOL Rupert Graves trying to check the gang into the hotel down the mountain.Give it a look,if open minded, you may also be surprised.

What A Great Find
27 May 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Had started watching once before, but couldn't get past the opening scenes with Glenn Ford talking about his "ranch" in Arizona to a security guard on a roof in New York,he's quit his job to go seek his fortune on a ranch, which has to turn out to not quite live up to expectations. The adventures he has along the way with a Spanish Civil War emigree,Richard Conte's man on the road-his scene in the dinner is great! Then, along comes the great Professor of Paleontology, and the comedy begins!Walburn's scenes were truly hilarious, and he was his typical grandiose best.Marjorie Rambeau played perfectly off Walburn as his supposed former flame, finally reunited, even if he can't remember anything about her.

18 May 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Didn't know much about the background of Christopher Robin, think he was ungrateful. So,his father made a boatload of money for writing about his childhood. With a disabled daughter, and the opportunity to live well,I have no sympathy for Chrissie. His father endured shell shock from WWI,no mention if CR did from WWII.I just think if he thought things had to be so ideal,he should've shown a little gratitude. That he was well provided for and that CR was a whinny unappreciative so-and-so,and that I'd think when he became a father he would've appreciated what his father accomplished, set out an enduring children's classic literature piece should mean something. No sympathy for ingrates!

Couldn't Wait For The End
18 May 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Glad to see the tribute to Carrie Fisher, but this film was too long. It's okay if you can pause or repeatedly visit, but watched it on a flight from UK to USA.Put me to sleep.Mark Hamill was right to express concern of the direction of his character.Lovedthe story with Kylo Ren and Rey.Needs to be up to its usual standards for the series continuation.

Excellent Film
18 May 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Not a bad actor in the entire cast.Saw the preview, but didn't have availability nearby.Watched on a plane, and am glad I did. This is a story that has many dynamics,an unsolved crime,a grieving family who turn their grief into a plea for justice.Woody Harrelson's dying sheriff is a testament to his ability to act,and on a par with Ms Frances. The Oscars were well deserved,it was a difficult film if you've had anything like the rape andmurder happen to your own family.Didn't like Sam Rockwell's character at first,he really was a "cracker".The new Police Chief was outstanding, and glad to see Caleb Landry Jones get a good role!

Could Be Better
5 May 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Not the greatest Western, but a nice enough effort. How anyone could say it's awful must be looking for FX.Dana Andrews not at his best, but makes an honest effort.Henry Brandon is as wooden here as Black Cloud as he was as one of Maximilian's soldiers/officers in Vera Cruz.Linda Cristal and Dana show their having gotten quite close during Mexican filming.Loved the wig.Didn't realize Lowell Gilmore, one of my favorites was in this as an agent for the U.S. Government.Kent Smith again co-stars with Dana Andrews,as Indian Chief trying to keep his nemesis Black Cloud from gumming up the peace with Washington,DC.Just thought it was a decent enough film.

3 May 2018
Warning: Spoilers
After talking with a friend about this series, rarely watch network television, started watched the April 2018 episodes,am as impressed with this series as I am with NCIS.Like the working relationship between psychiatrist and detectives, can almost appreciate the "hazing" given out.Hope this is renewed,as I think it deserves to stay around, unlike Scorpion which has lost its appeal since they changed the air time. This is what Elementary once was,and see nothing displeasing to any audience.
