Sword of Trust (2019)
A Memorable Low Budget Flick
Very well cast and acted and I found it an easy and fun watch.
A nice mix of deadpan comedy and low stress drama.
(at 61 y.o., my tolerance for drama has been greatly depleted.
I really prefer to be amused for my remaining years)
A special shout-out for Dan Bakkedahl who's name I never seem to remember but am always happy to see him show up in anything. He does funny and/or creepy better than most.
Tusk (2014)
Tribute to Fleetwood Mac
I gave it a 10 star to offset the ridiculously low rating of 5.3 currently on IMDB.
This should be a solid 7+ film if only for the performance of Mr Parks.
The silly goodness of every actor and aspect of the film has been greatly under appreciated and I'm ashamed to live in a world that can't be entertained by this flick!
Balls of Fury (2007)
The Greatest Sports Movie Of All Time!
This movie showed up on the MoviePlex this morning. What a great start to my Saturday! I hadn't seen this movie in over 10 years and was happy to see it still holds up. Laugh's galore. Of course it doesn't deserve a 10 rating, but its a lot better than the 5.3 it gets on IMDB, so I rated it a 10 to up the average. Should be a solid 7 at least!
Dunkirk (2017)
Beautiful, but overrated...
Like almost every Nolan film, It is beautifully filmed but big chunks of dialog are unintelligible. There is very little dialog in this film so you'd think there would be an effort made to make what is there more useful.
The score did what it was supposed to approx 75% of the time but was otherwise distracting and at times purely annoying.
FWIW, I enjoyed Memento and The Prestige very much.
Everything else Nolan, not so much.
Interstellar (2014)
Worst Nolan Movie?
My wife and I LOVED Memento and The Prestige and we don't agree on movies all that often. The Batman movies were clearly made by committee but watchable. Interstellar started well. I haven't seen a high dollar film deteriorate into ham-handed Scifi cliché since I can't remember when! 8.2??!!?? We're so disappointed in you all! I wish the best for Dunkirk but am suspecting it will be the next Red Tails...
