The Magic Roundabout (2007–2008)

Absolutely entertaining for children
17 May 2021
This revival series is really entertaining for younger children who love The Magic Roundabout.

The characters' personalities are still the same from the original series, but with some changes. Dougal still has his grumpiness with a bit of Victor Meldrew in his dialogue, Florence is the kind-hearted young girl who adores her friends, Zebedee is still summoned to solve the characters' problems, but has a mischievous side (which is one of the traits from the original French series) and a bit of Ken Dodd, Brian is still well-meaning but became a bit of a brainiac and has interest in things he likes, such as gravel, Ermintrude still has her opera-singing personality and Dylan still has his laid-back and hippie traits who tends to drift off to sleep.

The episodes are quite fun and enjoyable where it has several hilarious moments and the CGI animation is very nice and decent, as it is made by the same animation studio that worked on the movie.

I think I would recommend this show to children of all ages.

A Spectacular Animated British Film
19 February 2021
This is for the original version, not for the infamous US dub.

The story-line was very epic and the voice-acting in the film is really good with Robbie Williams, Tom Baker and Bill Nighy stand out respectively as a faithful furry hound Dougal, an evil ice wizard (who is a twin of Zebedee) Zeebad and a skilled guitarist and martial-artist rabbit Dylan. Other actors/actresses who make the splendid cast: Joanna Lumley (Ermitrude), Jim Broadbent (Brian), Kylie Minogue (Florence), Ian McKellen (Zebedee), Ray Winstone (Solider Sam) and Lee Evans (Train).

The computer animation was splendid, though it is different from Pixar and DreamWorks Animation films, but captures the effect and style of the original series.

In short, "The Magic Roundabout" is an entertaining children's film with astonishing voice-acting and incredible cartoonish animation. I would definitely recommend this for children.

Not bad, but an OK film.
15 October 2016
The Magic Sword: Quest for Camelot is an example of a Disney rip-off, but the animation is good, and the CGI, well, it needs a little improving. And the characters' design are alright but Ruber's henchmen have some impressive designs. Since, this film did have references from other Disney animated films like "Aladdin", "The Lion King", and even "Beauty and the Beast". But still other films that aren't Disney related still got references from are "Godzilla", and "Dirty Harry".

The film's humour needs a little touching up. Plus, Ruber makes a good villain, but his insanity is way off.

The film's plot somehow comes off track at times, and that's how it flopped at the box-office. But on the bright side, "The Prayer" is nominated for an Oscar and won a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song. So in conclusion, The Magic Sword: Quest for Camelot is not a bad film, but it's an Okay film. I mean, the filmmakers did their effort of making the film. I'm giving this film 5/10
