Evil Dead Rise (2023)
A little letdown
I think I overhyped this movie in my mind a little too much by reading all the reviews and the 100% Rotten Tomato (and then soon 96% Rotten Tomato) scores. It's not a bad movie by any means. But you see nearly the entire thing in the trailer which is something I try my best to avoid. The characters aren't very developed, the plot is kind of laughable, and it's definitely predictable. You see everything coming. The good was that it's VERY gory, had quite a few awesome Easter Eggs, original attacks/kills, and it was still a great time. I expect plenty of downvotes for this comment, but I'm just writing it because I wished I heard this from others.
Saturday Night Live: John Mulaney/LCD Soundsystem (2022)
Best Cold Open I've ever seen
Thank you, Lorne Michaels, and the rest of the cast of Saturday Night Live for showing respect and love to the Ukraine. We all stand in solidarity with you. 🇺🇦
Love Is Blind: The Weddings (2022)
DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED THE EPISODE
Somehow Sal and Mal not getting married was even more beautiful than a wedding itself. They were both so kind, loving, mature, and honest with each other. When she wiped his tears at the altar, I had a lump in my throat. But when he said they should go on a date, my own waterworks were going. Can't wait for the reunion!
I'm not sure why producers didn't have the first wedding shown last though. They left episode 9 on a cliffhanger and it would've kept interest for that while episode. I feel like that last wedding, though sweet, was very anticlimactic.
Aileen Wuornos: American Boogeywoman (2021)
Beyond ridiculous
This movie is based on a true story just about as much as Texas Chainsaw Massacre was based on a true story. At least it's entertaining enough to watch, even if the script does sound like it was written by a middle schooler. If you miss the cheesy made-for-TV miniseries of the 80s and 90s, this one's for you.
Ted Lasso: Beard After Hours (2021)
Nothing's Perfect
Ted Lasso is as close to perfect as a show can get except for this ridiculous episode. No one in our house liked it even one bit. How could the writers phone one in so bad like this?
Avocado Toast (2021)
FANTASTIC FILM!
Avocado Toast was a lot of fun to watch! Entertaining, funny, sweet lessons on life. I'd highly recommend this movie! <3.
Active Shooter: America Under Fire (2017)
Panicked, like you're right there
My cousin was gunned down and killed in August '18. This show makes you feel exactly the way our family feels as though you're there and mourning the victims. It's the realest I've ever seen a documentary portray what it's like to experience gun violence firsthand.
A Leaf of Faith (2018)
If I could go back
I'd never touch it. Not once. I had all my friends and family convinced how mild it was and how it's this wonder drug for anxiety, pain relief, and depression.
I'm in my second week of detox and can say with 100% honesty that stopping kratom has been harder than stopping adderall and Xanax. This is far from mild.
Don't watch. Don't use.
