The Haunting of Bly Manor: The Beast in the Jungle (2020)
Emotional Finale
This show hits all the marks when it comes to engaging the audience with each character. You really care for these people.
The very last shot made me cry.
The White Lotus (2021)
The White Lotus
Murray Bartlett was such an incredible surprise for me. I haven't seen much of his work but he was wonderful to watch.. He was definitely my favorite character.
As for the rest of the show it honestly relates to anyone who's worked in the service industry, had toxic relationships, hellish family vacations, or even vacationed alone.
Mike White managed to capture an incredible amount of depth within a wide range of characters in just six episodes and everything paid off. The cinematography, the music, the lighting, again the performances, well worth the watch.
I Care a Lot (2020)
Okay, okay. I see why it's unlikable.
Because Rosamund Pikes' character is one of the most twisted, vile, and disgusting characters that has ever been written. Yet, I really enjoyed this movie. Does that make me a fan of elder abuse? Absolutely not. I despise people who even consider it. All I am trying to say is that this movie is purely villainous with no "hero" to save the day. The only thing we get is 120 minutes of watching horrible people getting away with horrible things. This is a hard sell.. I'm surprised it was even made but it felt bold and original. I've watched a lot of films and TV that centers around an anti-hero who either redeems themselves in the end or overcomes impossible odds to save something, of someone, or descends far enough for the audience to want justice.. and this one had me rooting for nobody. Something about that made me like it because it felt like something I haven't seen. Yes. I enjoy watching movies that might seem to follow a certain formula and carry that all the way through. But the whole movie you seriously want both parties to lose.
All in all, give this movie a shot. It might not be your favorite but it's definitely a spin on the anti hero genre and feels like something new. And in a world of franchises, reboots, and remakes, this feels like a breath of fresh air.
Aunty Donna's Big Ol' House of Fun (2020)
Help. These sketches won't leave my head.
I swear, when it comes to sketch comedy it can be such a hit and a miss. But the concept these brilliant artists follow is just that. Every sketch might start off absurd and not your taste then all of a sudden flips into something else entirely. I seriously enjoyed watching the first season and have started to watch more of their sketches on YouTube. Give these guys a shot, it's guaranteed that they will confuse you and then make you laugh.
Now I'm off to find a cheeky midnight snack.
WandaVision: We Interrupt This Program (2021)
And this is why you stick with a show that's obviously mysterious
Won't say much more than that. A lot of people were immediately turned off by the sitcom style the show has. If anything I look at it as more of a tribute to television. But all in all, the story is getting very interesting at this point and a lot of mysterious things that happened in episodes 1-3 are explained here.
God of War (2018)
Simply put...
One of the best narratives I've ever experienced.
Gameplay was terrific.
Characters are fascinating.
The story sweeps you off your feet.
Mr. Robot: eps3.7_dont-delete-me.ko (2017)
This Episode is Important
Something struck me deeply during this episode. The commentary behind a depressive mind and the detail behind ones thought process throughout this episode is poetic and undoubtedly accurate.
Some will claim this episode as nothing more than a filler but I disagree. I mean, the series display of mental health throughout the seasons has beautifully captured just how, for lack of a better word: hellish it is to operate through daily functions.
This episode was a tipping point for Elliot and all that has happened so far.
The episode plays like talking someone down off the ledge and moved me to tears by the end of it. I just finished the episode and felt compelled to write this down for people to see.
Just beautiful television. This show surpasses what story telling can accomplish. The amount of passion and effort behind this entire production is something that will go down in television history as one of the greats. Can not wait to keep watching.
The Midnight Gospel: Mouse of Silver (2020)
A Warm Hug for Those Who've Have or are still Suffering
Don't let the title mislead you. This episode is a gut punch in the most beautiful way possible. The creativity behind this shows concept is brilliant and definitely worth sitting down and spending some time taking it in.
I was blown away by this season finale. I couldn't stop hearing good things about it online and my curiosity just wanted to see what everyone meant, tonight I binged from episode 4 after coming back to it after a short break. All of the topics of discussion are incredibly fascinating to dive into and gain insight through professionals.
This episode featuring Duncans late mother Deneen who recorded this with Duncan when he was in the earlier stage of his podcast.
Birth, Life, and Death are heavily discussed throughout this episode. Its a lot for anyone to take in, but on the same token: Necessary and Beautiful.
I found myself rewinding thought provoking statements, holding back tears, not succeeding in doing so, and just enamored by the relationship between these two, it was so heartwarming. I highly appreciate Pendleton Ward and Duncan Trussel for bringing this vision to life. The animation staff will make you scratch your head in intrigue, the topics will captivate you and/or inspire you, the humor will make you laugh and lastly the shows "heart" will make you, as the episode states "Crack open yours"
