Kho Gaye Hum Kahan (2023)
Refreshing
If you are on Tinder or Insta this movie will make an instant connect. Considering an OTT Netflix release the screenplay and performances by Siddhant, Ananya, and Adarsh were awesome.
It's a script that will connect more easily with urban audiences but the message is universal. Seeking self validation online by way of likes or dislikes is not the way to decide your next step.
Reminded me of a similar theme handled by the series 'Black Mirror' but in an Indian context.
Worth a watch and I liked the way it closed the movie with a few important learnings like... It's not your followers but friends that matter.
Dunki (2023)
Good movie but nothing Great
Being an RH fan I had to see this on the first day and it left me disappointed. Once the credits roll you will say it's a good movie but will I watch it again? NO.
It has the emotions and drama backed by great performances from SRK and Taapsee. The social message is delivered but if you are going to watch this for walking out with that 'feel good' factor you felt with Munnabhai or 3 Idiots... that's not going to happen.
The script focuses so much on SRK and Taapsee that it fades out the potential of others. Boman Irani and Vicky Kaushal are not given any character arc and knowing their potential it is unfair.
The soundtrack is good and blends with the narrative but nothing stands out. Worth a watch if you get the tickets cheap else wait for it to hit the OTT platforms.
Prey (2022)
Finally a Predator sequel worth watching!
The first one was a gem. The rest that followed kept disappointing. Alien vs Predator was good but the human connect was missing. This one is worth your time. Great cinematography, riveting background score and the pace does not drop once it picks up.
It may not have popular actors but that only makes it more watchable. Set against a Comanche community background and beautiful landscapes this Predator is a badass who looks and plays the part.
Wonder why I did not come across this one earlier. Possibly like many I dismissed it as yet another lame sequel. But trust me, if you are a Predator fan then this one will not disappoint.
Wonder Woman (2017)
Impressed !!!!
There was not much expected from this flick and was I wrong!! The movie has definitely set the background and stage for 'Wonder Woman' to take her rightful place with the league of overcrowded male superheroes.
Refreshing change to watch a female kick ass and look convincing and sexy while doing it. All the actors put up a fine display but are finally destined to play second fiddle as the show belongs to 'Wonder Woman' and Gal Gadot does a 'wonder job' of it.
The transition of Diana, Princess of Themyscira, Daughter of Hippolyta to a WW1 ravaged London is convincing. However, more convincing is the fact that this demi-goddess connects with the audience not only her action but her display of emotions. A wonderful effort by the production team and I hope an independent sequel is considered staged in 'present day' instead of reserving Wonder Woman to only play a part of the Justice League.
