The Gentlemen (2024)
Underwhelming
I've been a Guy Ritchie fan since the 90s, but this series just isn't it. Fantastic acting all around, but the plot is very contrived and over the top. I think the actors deliver as much as the script allows them to, which is only so much. Individual episodes keep you hooked and anchored enough to keep watching, but with each episode the viewer has to increasingly suspend belief. The last episode, in my opinion, is the worst. Everything ends just too perfectly, which wasn't needed considering that there is clearly going to be another season. I'm still a Guy Ritchie fan, but I wish I had waited until more people had reviewed the series before watching it.
Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui (2021)
A Wannabe Woke Letdown
This movie is a serious let down. There are plenty of trans people who could have easily been cast as the love interest rather than a female supermodel who (obviously) lacks an Adam's apple. The focus should have been on the trans character and her genuine struggle, which is mentioned but never discussed beyond the surface level. Ayushmaan does his usual acting and is nothing special. I wish the filmmakers had spent more time writing and casting a better script rather than Ayushmaan wasting his time building a better body.
Firefly Lane (2021)
A beautiful novel gone so incredibly wrong...
I don't know why such liberties were taken with the original plot. I'm not disappointed by this series; rather, I'm offended (as I'm sure all KH fans will be).
Valley Girl (2020)
Good fun if you aren't comparing...
Watch it as a film separate from the 80s version. It's not plot driven (as most musicals aren't), but it's lighthearted and funny. Good music and excellent recreation of the wonderful 80s.
Spies in Disguise (2019)
A hidden gem.
I wasn't expecting much out of this movie, and I usually don't enjoy animated films. However, this was hysterical from beginning to end. Excellent writing.
Restaurants on the Edge (2019)
Has potential, but falls flat
The show focuses on the country rather than the restaurant. The restaurant isn't highlighted until the last ten minutes of the show.
