Why did the mighty morphin power rangers reboot fail?
Obviously, power rangers (at least in the United States) has been suffering a serious drop in popularity in the last several years. RPM wasn't as popular as Bandai hoped and last year's mighty morphin reboot, which was designed to respur interest in the waning American series, died off before the end of the year with Saban purchasing the dying franchise from Disney. The reboot mighty morphin toys didn't sell well at all, and in fact are very common these days in many second hand clothing stores such as Ross. I picked up a several of them on clearence for $1.00 each and they are easily found.
Even the new series, power rangers samarai, doesn't seem to have built up much interest on the Nicktoons channel at all. The toys don't seem to be attracting much interest from toy buyers at all. Has power rangers finally come to an end in the United States? Super Sentai, which power rangers is based on, is more popular than ever in Japan however. But, in the United States, it seems that power rangers is quickly fading in popularity with the American people.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (1993)
I like this, but I prefer the Super Sentai series of television shows.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was the first successful Americanized version of a very popular Japanese television show called Super Sentai, which started in 1975. Over 35 years of toys and merchandise has made this a household staple in Japan.
Then in 1993, Haim Saban, took the footage of one particular show, Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger, and turned into an American staple, replacing the original premise of the show, (Martial artists from thousands of years ago return with their Dincsaur Mecha to battle the witch Bandora, and changed it into a modern day parody where teenagers with attitude fight the evil Goldar and Rita Repulsa.
I like this show, but I definitely prefer the Japanese version of Super Sentai over the Americanized version. Also the Japanese version of Super Sentai toys and action figures are of far superior quality than the Americanized version of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers merchandise.
All in all, not a bad show, but if you really want to see what Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was really like check out Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger episodes on Youtube and make a comparison for yourself.
Chôjû sentai Raibuman (1988)
Definitely the BEST Super Sentai of all time!
I absolutely loved Chôjû sentai Raibuman as a kid, since I spent a lot of years in Japan, since my father was in the military, I am very familiar with Super Sentai, also known as Power Rangers in western countries.
Chôjû sentai Raibuman also known as Liveman was a unique, one of a kind Super Sentai that combined great characters, special effects, and storytelling to create one of the best kid's shows of the 1980s! I had all of the toys of this great show when I was a teenager! I absolutely loved this show as a kid, but, it's now nearly impossible to find any episodes of this great show. Hopefully Bandai Japan will put out some DVDs of this and other great Super Sentais from the past 30 years! I now live in the United States, but I won't ever forget this great show! Go Liveman!
