Fool Me Once (2024)
Again a Netflix miniseries that's no good
I've found myself being disappointed in Netflix miniseries more and more. They start out okay-ish, but after one or two episodes I just skip and watch the final episode. And it's not like I then feel I've missed vital information to understand the plot. I just feel like I've saved myself a lot of time and annoyance.
This show unfortunately is no different. I agree with some of the other reviewers that the lead actress does not have the most expressive face (as far as you can see this through the multiple layers of make-up). Also too many sub-storylines that are of no importance to the main story. I have read some Harlan Coben novels and found them entertaining. But every time Netflix turns one into a series I just cannot get involved with the characters.
I love British series (Unforgotten being my favourite) but this one just is not good enough.
Platonic (2023)
Rose Byrne is great, Seth Rogen is annoying
I really wanted to like this show after reading the great reviews. Unfortunately I didn't. Watched all episodes but although Rose Byrne was quite funny it was Seth Rogen who ruined it for me. His character was so unbelievable and annoying. So loud and his laugh got on my nerves after a while. His crazy behaviour with the scooters was not funny at all. Who would do that??? The only episode I actually liked was the one where Sylvia (Rose) gets back to work and ruins a portrait of her boss. The family-dynamic with Charlie was way more interesting than Sylvia's "adventures" with Will. So no, not funny enough to be called a comedy. Glad to read that some of the reviewers feel the same way.
Reportage November (2022)
Not as bad as some reviewers say
Being a great fan of found footage films I've seen far worse than this Swedish movie. Sure, it starts off slow but after a while it picks up speed and is really quite creepy. Maybe that's because I find forests and getting lost in them always scary (of course Blair Witch is the best I've seen so far, with Willow Creek a good second). I liked the story of the missing woman, would have liked to find out what exactly happened to the child, but all in all quite entertaining.
It reminded me a bit of The Dyatlov Pass Incident although that one had quite a surprising twist in it which this Swedish film lacks. So there are better FF films out there but this was definitely not the worst. Worth the watch.
Mr Inbetween (2018)
Amazing show
I stumbled upon this show by accident searching for Australian tv-shows. I love all things Oz so I gave this a try. It is a really amazing show, funny, heartwarming and violent as hell. The main character could be creepy but you cannot help but love Ray. He is surprisingly kind in some situations. Binged all three seasons and now I desperately want to see The Magician what all this is based upon but it is nowhere to be found. Until I find The Magician I'll just keep re-watching Mr Inbetween. Totally recommend it to everyone with a sense of dark humor. Also the conversations between Gaz and Ray crack me up.
Mr. Mayor (2021)
Quirky and fun
I started watching this show without reading reviews about it. During the first episode I thought I would find some of the characters annoying, but they totally grew on me! There are some really funny dialogues in there, and Ted Danson and Holly Hunter are doing a great job with their characters. I even enjoy the scenes with the mayor and his daughter where usually I don't find kids in comedies a good idea. The Avocado episode was reaaly good. Keep watching, Tina Fey's sense of humor is really in here.
Evil: D Is for Doll (2021)
The daughters are starting to annoy me more every week
Like the show very much but please please please make Kirsten's daughters stop screaming and yelling and shrieking. It was fun in the pilot episode to watch those girls be funny and a bit loud but it has since become more annoying by the week.
