Voyage of the Chimera (2021)
Read the Trivia!
Remember the trivia said this was made on a budget of $20,000. It is really unfair to try and judge this film by big budget standards.
Space Opera Science Fiction is not cheap to make. Sets are expensive and so are special effects.
I was very impressed with the space combat scenes. They were very well thought out and realistically presented and explained.
The dialogue wasn't bad, the presentation was which comes back to the fact they just didn't have the budget to get enough talented actors.
Someone said they wouldn't hire any of them. I disagree, there are four talented actors, the rest weren't and should consider working behind the scenes.
All in all I liked the story and wished they'd had more money for casting.
As science fiction goes it's a story with a lot of potential and I'd like to see more just to find out what happens next.
Pro Wrestlers vs Zombies (2014)
Not waiting for a sequeal
My brother is a wrestling fan and I thought this might be a laugh to watch. I was wrong. So here is my guess on how this movie got made...
Producer: Hey Roddy, how ya doing?
Roddy: Not bad, knee still hurts like an SOB. What's up?
Producer: I just got my State Income tax check and the account says I need a something to write off as a loss for next year if I don't want to pay taxes again.
Roddy: Yeah, what's that got to do with me?
Producer: Wanna earn a quick $500 dollars? I need something remotely resembling a star to convince the IRS we at least made an attempt to make a profit.
Roddy: Sure, you providing the hookers?
Producer: No, but Shane knows a couple of girls looking for a break and...
Okay, so maybe it didn't go quite that way but, does it really matter. This film is so bad it makes Uwe Boll look like an academy award director. The script was bad, the acting was bad, the special effects were bad. You name it, it was bad. This movie is so bad they wont so it in 48 states because to do so would be considered cruel and inhuman punishment. Did I say it's bad?
Age of Ice (2014)
How I spent my tax refund?
Where do I begin? First let me say that this film does not contain any plot holes... they are all huge, bottomless caverns!
As for technical accuracy, well, except for the fact that the country of Egypt actually exists, there isn't any.
The film is consistent, consistently bad that is in writing, dialog and special effects. I would love to give some examples but honestly don't know where to start. However, if you are curious and don't mind wasting part of your life that you will never get back, just watch the first five minutes, you'll understand. Personally, I don't think it's worth the loss.
My guess is someone either received their tax refund, got drunk and said to the buddies, "Hey, let's make a movie!" or couldn't figure out a better way to launder money. That last comment is a joke so don't sue me; trust me, there are much better ways to launder money.
Unfortunately, the best thing about this film is its movie poster/DVD cover. I suspect that's where most of the budget went.
In summation let me say that, were Mystery Science Theater 3000 still airing, the folk there would have a field day with this movie.
I recommend watching it while inebriated or otherwise impaired, not because doing so will make the film seem any better, you just won't feel so much like your intelligence is being insulted.
