Eden (2014)
Probably the worst movie I've ever seen
This movie was worse than worse. It was so terrible that my brother and I were sitting laughing/crying over how painfully bad it was.
The plot was absolute NONSENSE!! It made NO sense whatsoever! I can't even count all the plot holes. The characters were odd and you didn't really get an introduction to them and therefor had no emotional connection to them. Frankly, I didn't even care if some of them died. The worst thing about the movie was that the characters didn't have any good motives for their actions - they just did crazy sh*t for NO REASON! And I know that they were stranded on an island and under a lot of stress, but it made NO SENSE.
DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE! I repeat, DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE!
De grønne slagtere (2003)
Truly a masterpiece
This movie is a masterpiece! Nothing less! I'm so proud that we in little Denmark were able to produce such a great movie.
It is truly hilarious especially if you like a little dark humor. But don't get me wrong, it is not vulgar but it's funny because it's so absurd.
The characters are well written and played exceptionally great by especially Nikolaj Lie Kaas and Mads Mikkelsen. They are funny, dark and with a lot of depth. The plot is also great.
If you haven't seen this movie yet - see it! EVERYONE should do them self the favor of seeing this movie at least once!
If you've already seen it and are looking for more like this I can recommend "Flickering Lights", "Adam's Apples", "In China They Eat Dogs" and "Old Men in New Cars". They are all written by Anders Thomas Jensen (who wrote and directed this movie). They are the exact same kind of movies with great, dark humor.
Wonder Woman (2017)
Nice superhero-movie but overly American and Hollywoodified and not much of a feminist icon
I must admit that I'm very disappointed. The movie had been praised for being such a strong movie regarding feminism and finally giving us a non-sexualized, strong, bad ass female lead. This is not entirely the case in my opinion.
Wonder Woman is strong and bad ass, that is true. I also love how all the Amazons are strong as hell and incredible good at fighting! But Wonder Woman is still sexualized to the skies! If you look at her outfit: HEELED shoes (they can't be very practical) and a tiny skirt (they could easily have made it just a few inches longer without it having any effect on her freedom of movement). I know that they were probably trying to be true to the comics, but I think they could have pulled that outfit together in other ways and still achieve that. And why would the Amazons, who have been isolated from the rest of the world for thousands of years, shave? How did they even come up with that idea? It serves no real purpose. (Just to be clear - I shave and like being shaved, but I'm 100% sure that's because I've been socialized to like it, and I think it's unrealistic that the Amazons would shave).
Another thing I dislike about the movie is the whole WW1-plot. It's one of the most American movies I have ever seen (not meant in a good way), depicting the Germans as literal monsters and insane people, whereas the Brits and Americans are all heroes (very one-dimensional). It's an old, tired, American plot seen way too many times before. Very Hollywood.
Besides all that it has a looot of loopholes.
If you put all these things aside, then it's a nice superhero-movie - it's funny, filled with action and Chris Pine is exceptional.
If the movie hadn't been so hyped and praised I'm sure I wouldn't have been as disappointed.
So, if you like (very American and Hollywoodified) superhero-movies give it a try. Just don't expect too much.
Unge lovende (2015)
Great, realistic, funny, raw - definitely worth a watch!
I don't normally review movies/series, in fact this is my first review on IMDb ever. But there is only two reviews on this series and none of them are particularly positive and they don't capture what I feel about the series at all!
Yes, we have seen this kind of series and story before - a group of friends in their twenties trying to navigate in life, handling sex, relationships, family, career and social issues. They are all trying to find out who they are and how to fit in in this world. BUT the series is very different from anything I have seen before nonetheless. That is because of the realism.
It is much more down to earth and realistic than any American series I have ever seen and I can actually relate to the characters - not just relate (because of course I have related to a lot of characters form different series), but really think "this could happen, this could be real".
It is much like the widely popular series SKAM (which is also Norwegian), only the age of the characters (and the target audience) has been raised.
Maybe it has also something to do with the fact that it is set in Norway and I'm from Denmark, so I relate a lot to the culture depicted in the series.
A thing I don't like too much is that all the main characters and most of their friends are trying to get into careers like acting, writing, comedy and sports. No one is trying to get a "normal" education as a teacher or nurse or something. But I think it might have something to do with that they are all from them same "artistic" group/culture. Still it makes it a bit less realistic in that respect.
I hate rating movies and series because I can never fully make up my mind what I think about them. This series is not perfect - like almost no series are - but if you like a more realistic and down to earth feel and the portrayal of everyday life in a witty but raw manner, I would definitely recommend this series!!
The biggest downside is that there are only 6 episodes consisting of ca. 30 min in each season (and only 2 seasons so far, but I've heard that season 3 is on the way!), and that is not nearly enough!
