At Last A Recent war film I enjoyed
28 September 2023
As A fan of war films, especially WW2, I sat down and gave this one a go, so glad I did.

This was a great story, always rooting for Filip against the evil Nazi regime.

Good solid film, with an excellent cast who all really dragged you into the movie until the last second.

WW2 movies years ago, there was a long list of really great movies, one after the other, some fiction and some True stories, but lately it's been slightly disappointing, so this hidden gem was a real delight.

It does have subtitles, but that doesn't bother me at all, but if you're not a fan of them. Just try and steer your way through.

Give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

Surprisingly great

Not my type of show I usually watch, as usually watch true stories, dark thrillers etc, but had a week of work so my wife watched the first episode and bang bang bang I was hooked.

Shows the raw storyline of parent or parents struggle to bring their children up the best way they can.

Super acting by everyone really draws you in and further into the story.

And you can watch Andie MacDowell as you've never seen her before, what an actress she is.

Bottom line is if you want to give a limited series a watch, you won't go far wrong with the Maid.

Absolutely awesome

I'll keep it short, all of the This is England dramas are a masterpiece in writing by Shane Meadows. Some of the viewing is uncomfortable to watch but watch you have to as you are glued to the screen.

The actors and actresses are quite simply superb, and why british drama is there in my opinion as the best in the world.

Watch them all now, you won't be able to shake it out of your mind.

Well done to all 10/10 for everything.

Compelling drama
22 February 2021
A must see drama, ignore the bad reviews, watch it and be beautifully lost for 90 minutes in it's super story lines, super acting, super characters and super London location. It's not easy viewing, some of it is gut wrenching, but in the end be prepared to be blown away from start to finish.

What more can be said

I will keep this very brief. If you fancy a mini boxset you can watch in an evening look no further than the House of Cards. Absolutely absorbing show that pulls you in from the very start and does not let go. Super cast, superb quality acting, if you haven't seen it, then please do yourself a favour, pull out a chair, get your snacks and get prepared to be absolutely entertained by this show. An absolute must watch.

Very surprising little gem
3 February 2021
Although not a die hard fan of Bruce Springsteen (you don't have to be to enjoy the film) I really enjoyed this little treat. Great storyline, soundtrack and superb actors and actresses make this definitely worth a watch. Based in Luton and based on a true story it takes you through the journey of a young Asian man who has lost his way in life a little, not helped by stupid racists who unfortunately where there in his life. His friend gives him hope by giving him cassette tapes of Bruce Springsteen and the rest of the film like the start is shot beautifully. If you haven't seen this film yet, draw the curtains, turn the sound up and sit back and enjoy, you won't be disappointed.

Great Fun

Almost the same as UK sitcoms, that daft sense of humour, but written in a superb way. Plenty of laughs, I haven't laughed so much at a sitcom in a while, but this had me rolling around with laughter. Fantastic cast, who get you laughing with their quotes, and delivered just at the right time. If you live in the UK and have a great and daft sense of humour, then watch this gem.

A worth while wait for a great Western
25 September 2020
I will keep this short and sweet, if you are a fan of westerns or the very talented Jack O'Connell then this is right up your street. Great storyline, great acting, great scenery and all done at a great pace. The good thing is also is with only seven parts you can watch it all in one sitting and trust me you will, as each episode keeps you hooked and wanting more. Fine performances all around including Michelle Dockery, and the absolutely fantastic Jeff Daniels, who in my opinion is such an underestimated actor of his time. The thing I also loved about the show is when it goes back in time, you get simple but very effective answers to the story. All in all a great gem. Only reason I'm not giving it a ten out of ten is there where only seven parts, I could easily of sat through seven seasons of it at this level. A big well done to all.
