Indie Film Adventures (2005)
PWNAGE AT IT'S HIGHEST FORM! *SPIFFY Productions Review of Indie Film Adventures
Once again, Hank and his pals amaze me. He just knows how to write a script! He can also do some great shots and also know how to keep the laughs coming!
Positives/Negatives TIME!
+: 1. Great satire to the average flaws in most Independent films. Watching Ghallagar point out every flaw is a pleasure to watch. *NUTSHOT*
*note there may be only one + compliment but it's a short and it was funny!*
-: 1. Randal graves anyone? *not really original Hank. It's practically the same character*
2. Corny ending. And not the good kind
3. TO SHORT! should've been longer. More satire the better *you did cover most of the bases though so that's good*
All in all though, a great film and is worth watching if you've seen a fair share of bad indie films
Keep it up hank!
Four More Years of Vader (2005)
Even if you support G.W.Bush, this is funny! *SPIFFY Productions review on 4 more years of Vadar
This Short film is actually pretty funny. You can be a supporter of Bush and still get a real kick out of this film. You do have to be a star wars fan because without it, you may be lost.
Positives/Negatives time!
+: 1. Another great Braxtan Film. Leave it to hank and his buds to come up with something like this
2. The star wars reference are really great. I just died laughing at the part of Vader's interview on Endor.
3. Ticker at the bottom of the screen had some great references to star wars, the ring, and some other great films. Good attention to Detail!
-: 1. Nothing like corny effects. sometimes it's good, but for some reason i didn't like them this time...
2. Republicans beware, you may get ticked
3. Quality isn't like the other Braxtan Films. Just seemed blurry.
All in all pretty good. It's average! and that's all America asks for! Hope Braxtan keeps up the good work *cough*ReturnoftheGhostbusters*COugh*
*note, star wars freaks will LOVE THIS. a must see for them*
Pulse (2006)
Spiffy Productions review of Pulse
*note* If you were freaked out by the ring, this is a movie for you!*note*
Went to see Pulse today, expecting it to deliver, and it was everything I Expected, and maybe more! Pulse was another one of the movies I like to call "Electronic Horror" which involves T.V's, Cpu's, And anything else like that.
In this film you will see some things that are, putting this lightly by the way, Freeky! You'll see crap that maybe haunt you for awhile, but still keeps a great cinematic atmosphere and also keeps it fun at the same time. You'll watch People losing there will to live and also watch them... well, Go see the movie and you'll find out ^_^
Anyway, lets talk about some of the positives and negatives
+: 1. Great Directing: through out the entire film you'll see interesting angles and motions that you usually never see!
2. Interesting script: The screenplay was co-written by Wes Craven. Yea I know he's delivered some bad crap before *cough*Redeye*cough* but this may have redeemed him! OF course though, he can't take all the credit because this was originally a Jap. film, but I Know he added some thrills of his own!
At any rate, the story was awesome and it may leave you wanting to turn off your cellular Phone for awhile.
3. Decent acting: acting was a little better than normal, but some people still sucked. It was believable though!
-: 1. Some cheesiness: In true Wes Craven Fashion, some cheesiness will be detected. But it's not Full Blown like Freddy though.
2. Some Problems with details: One thing that is commonly rampant through horror films is the absence of details. Sure, some use this as a way to really make you fear the unknown, but this film should have had some more details to it. They should not give you some details and then leave figuring out the rest.
3. some annoying sound effects: Some scenes make you cringe, not because of the script, but because of the rampant annoying screeching from the background. this is a turn off.
Overall score: 7.5 Out of 10 *rounded up to 8 for the IMDb poll*
Final thoughts: Great movie considering Hollywood lately has been shoveling out crap *cough*Zoom, material girls, barnyard, ATV, anything Micheal bay, etc.*cough*. Hopefully more films this year will improve!
Freddy vs Ghostbusters (2004)
Spiffy Productions review of FVGB
This Film was the first one of BraxtanFilms that I saw, and I've been hooked ever since. Hank Braxtan is one of the main reasons I started film making and producing. Here are some +'s and -'s
+: 1. Great Props *I.E proton packs and traps*
2. Good Script *can't be any worse than AVP right?*
3. Comedy was great! *I.E. QUEERS!!!*
4. Awesome tidbits and attention to detail *I.E. Ghostbusters game in the Genesis and Freddy's mannerisms*
-: 1. some cruddy acting: *I.E.: Extras and Lead Actress seemed a little off on believability
2. Freddy isn't Robert Englund *sorry boys, Only Rob can play Freddy, but brad still was OK in acting*
3. Slimer= bad *sorry, it was corny, but ROTGB will have better visuals from what i've seen!*
total points: 8 out of 10
GREAT JOB! can't wait to see ROTGB in October!
