The Revenant (2015)
A very daring movie and cinematic masterpiece
A very daring movie and cinematic masterpiece that gave Leonardo Di Caprio a well deserved and long awaited Academy Award. Tom Hardy, who plays Fitzgerald, does an amazing job in this film. Stunning and realistic action scenes.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)
8.1 Are we kidding?
I don't agree. The average of 8.1 is way too high for this film. Yes, yes nice VFX, acting...but the story? Where is the story? And I find the son battling against his father of bad taste. I watched it with my kids and they could not understand. They didn't like it as they liked Vol. 1 - They found it, as I found it, also a bit boring, mostly the never ending battle at the end. Well I liked a lot Grout, but the cute little tree is not enough to give high points to this predictable film.
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017)
Excellent
This is one of the best movie I have watched so far this year. The editing is great, simply great. With a astonishing montage supported by a marvelous music, it shows in a masterpiece way the main character that grows up. I watched it twice just for it. All the actors of course did great, mostly the bad king played by a superb Jude Law. And the line of Arthur after defeating his enemy is simply philosophic: "I have to thank you because I exists because of you" and then he kisses his enemy's hand. It really uplift your spirit. It's so noble.
Of Sinners and Saints (2015)
Could have been a great film
I think this film could have been a better film if the director, who is also the lead actor, had left directing to someone else. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that Soriquez is not a good director, but I feel I put more energy in acting than in directing this film. I loved his performance as Leonardo Rossellini, but I cannot say the same directing wise. Maybe the film is too slow, maybe it could have been trimmed out a little bit more. But ending though is lovely and the final scene reminds me of the great Sergio Leone. Those close ups while the tensions builds up helped by a good score, is simply great. I am waiting for his next film to be released.
