Left me feeling hungry
17 January 2024
This started out with so much promise. Courtney B. Vance played a masterful role. The ensemble cast was very believable and gave a very realistic performance. But... as the movie progressed I was waiting for the climax and kept on waiting. I understand this was loosely based on a true story but since they were already taking liberties with the plot they could have spiced it up. The ending was so anticlimactic it left me unsatisfied. Don't get me wrong the ending was a surprise but it could have given the audience more. There was no where are they now. There was no follow up on the money. It just ended.

Misses the mark
18 December 2023
I had high hopes for this movie because of Tracie and Eddie. But sadly it misses the mark. I liked the idea of using the 12 days of Christmas as a running theme but in the end the movie just didn't work. The supporting characters were way over the top and quickly became annoying. The main protagonist just didn't have what it took to be a true Christmas villain a la Burgermeister in "Santa Claus is Comjng to Town" or the 3 ghosts in "Scrooged". Eddie said he hoped this would be a fun Christmas classic that could be watched year after year. I have a feeling this will be the only year most people will watch this movie. I know for me I wouldn't watch it again.

Single Black Female (2022 TV Movie)
2/10
I was hoping to be entertained
28 August 2022
I really wanted this to be a good movie. I watched the previews with anticipation of enjoying it. But...almost from the beginning I started rolling my eyes and shaking my head at the scenes and the dialog. The script was very bland. And while it is a remake of Single White Female from a black woman perspective, other than 2 female leads there really isn't anything similar in story or in plot from the original. One of the best parts of this movie was their hair and makeup (Tyler Perry needs to take notes). I'm not normally attracted to BBW but these women looked really good. Props to the hair, makeup and wardrobe departments. The direction was almost non existent. It was as if the director was told to get each scene done in one take. There were scenes that clearly should have been reshot to make it more realistic and believable but they decided it was good enough for LMN. I think the actors started off trying to deliver a good performance but by the end you could clearly tell they were just phoning it in. I've seen these women in other movies and tv shows and they can act if given a good script and good direction. Unfortunately they got neither and it showed.

It's sooooo bad
20 July 2021
Like some of the others after 24 minutes, the movie just started to smell so I came here to read the reviews and they confirmed my suspicions. This movie is so bad. I just had to turn it off and make a mental note not to watch anything written by Edward Drake or Corey Large or directed by John Suits.

Had potential but missed its mark
4 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The acting was great and i like Gabriel's sassy character. But the plot wasn't fully developed. The movie had the potential to be on the level with "Get Out" but it fell very short. There are inconsistencies, like how did she escape the first time? What happened to the brand on her lower back that Him marked her with after she escaped? I think they wanted to make Sci-Fi horror thriller but didn't have the budget to see it all the way through.

A film with so much potential falls flat and doesn't deliver
28 July 2019
After seeing the previews, I was excited to get to watch this. The first 10 minutes were great. McQueen did a great job of setting up the storyline. But it went downhill from there. There are at least 5 subplots and the viewer has no idea where they or headed and in the end none of them matter. McQueen is a much better director than writer and this movie shows it.

Complete waste of money
8 April 2019
So the more I saw the previews the more I started to question the premise of the movie. Were they aliens, were they an experiment gone bad, werethey from an alternate universe. Then I decided to stop questioning myself. (Note to self, always question yourself) 15 minutes into the movie I was ready to leave. Winston Duke, didn't know whether he should be serious or funny and he failed at both. Honestly the entire film felt that like it was confused was it a comedy or a suspense thriller. The characters were never developed. I didn't care who lived or died. This movie is M. Night Shylaman bad. Actually it's worse. Wait until it's out on Redbox, better yet wait until it's on HBO and you have literally nothing to do for 2 hours.

Great show until it wasn't.
30 March 2019
As with many of the other reviewers. I was completely enthralled from episode 1 until the end of 6. Then episode 7 starts and I immediately began to feel the let down. By the time episode 8 hits I'm left asking myself "really is this it"? This show had so much potential but it sputtered at the end.
