Outer Space Astronauts (2009)
I Hope Scyfy Keeps This One!
I know a lot of people think Scyfy and comedy don't mix... but I for one was a huge fan of Garth Marenghi's Dark Place, and I think people need to give this show a chance. I saw the previews for the show, and immediately I had high hopes... but upon watching the pilot, I felt the show was very dry (at first). But by the time the show ended, I was in love with the show, and my hopes had been fulfilled.
I gave the other episodes a chance, and a lot of them were surprisingly good. Lots of laughs to be had with this show, please give it a chance... watch more than one episode! It took me a couple episodes to start understanding and liking certain characters.
In conclusion, this show is really good... but I can tell it's not very popular. The theme song kicks butt, the characters are hilarious and well written... very bizarre CGI effects that add to the humor... WATCH THIS SHOW!
Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV (2000)
One of the funniest movies ever made!
This movie had me laughing from beginning to end... and not just chuckles, but big belly laughs, that had me crying like an infant, I thought my ribs were actually going to break! The Toxic Avenger IV had everything for everyone... unless of course you're a prude or are unable to watch R movies or higher (DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE WITH YOUR PARENTS!) The actors were great, no one's acting got on my nerves, but don't expect Al Pacinos and Julia Roberts'... this is a Troma movie we're talking about! Trent Haaga did a terrific job as Writer/Actor/Asst. Director on this film. He's one of Lloyd Kaufman's treasures, and will hopefully never be driven away by Lloyd.
I loved Kabukiman's Cameo in this movie... both of them, Sgt. Kabukiman N.Y.P.D and Evil Kabukiman. The two funniest characters in the film (in my opinion). The Toxic Avenger himself is pretty funny in the film... but his alternate self... Noxie, is not as likable... but still has his moments (See the part where Noxie kills 1/2 of Tromaville).
I don't know what Lloyd contributed to the film creatively, besides notes to Trent Haaga like "Make sure to include something about evils of plastic surgery" and "Put something in there about the wrongs of abortion". But I still have respect for the guy, to be 65 (55 at the time) and produce... and direct such an edgy movie.
Anyways, awesome movie, enough credit cannot be given to the Troma team... my only beefs with the film was some of the bad audio editing (music that should have been louder during a car chase, and lines being edited in, when they don't sync to the character's mouth movements). Other than that, the movie was spectacular!
