Flora and Son (2023)
my favorite movie in years. highly recommend flora and son!
We watched flora and son at a preview screening at cleveland's rock hall and loved everything about this film. The acting was spot on - eve hewson nails the role of the erratic but hilarious single mom struggling with a difficult teenager. The dublin setting was fun to see as a backdrop. We literally laughed out loud throughout the movie. The comedic value was over the top and rounded out with romance, intrigue, and coming of age moments. Writer/director carney has crafted a masterpiece you don't want to miss. It's always a good sign when you leave the film and spend the rest of the evening recapping what you just watched....
The Menu (2022)
as a restaurant owner, i just had to watch this film. INTENSE! you'll be on the edge of your seat....
I opened my first restaurant here in cleveland, ohio when i was 21 years old and have been a hospitalian every since. This film took the gripes and foibles of hospitality workers and turned it into a ghastly and riveting look at the fault lines of human nature and the excesses of the entitled. Brilliantly written and so intense i couldn't tear my eyes away even in the most exorbitant moments. The many layers of back of house references and coded gastronomical winks were a special pleasure. I'm already looking forward to watching this film a second time to catch all the nuances and witticisms i missed on the first go round!
Lovely Jackson (2022)
riveting. powerful. this movie will blow your mind!
We sat transfixed in the dark theater on the edge of our seats the entire time. This deeply personal story carries you into the deepest recesses of the justice system and shines a spotlight on one man's journey over 39 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit. There wasn't a dry eye in the theater.
The cinematography and storytelling are beautifully done. We talked for hours afterward about the film and still can't stop thinking about it.
This story of ricky jackson's life will renew your faith in the resilience and goodness of humanity and our ability to triumph over adversity.
You will not want to miss this incredibly film!!
