Space Mutiny (1988)
So bad it's great!
This is why programs like MST3K and Rifftrax are a good thing. I would never have watched this movie on my own, and I probably would not have enjoyed it. The addition of the jokes has turned this into one of my favorite films, so I highly recommend watching one of those versions.
Don't get me wrong, it's a pretty bad movie. The acting is ok, but the plot is just bad. You can tell the Balarians (or however it is spelled) were an afterthought because it doesn't fit in and is plopped on. But you can't help but laugh at the cheesy lines, the weird confused and lovelorn victims of the Balarians, and the over the top acting of Kalgan and MacPherson. Of course Ryder gave him the limp, didn't see that one coming at all... /s
This is one of my favorite bad movies. It's great!
Man v. Monster (2011)
Very interesting show
Series is about a host, Richard Terry, who researches and interviews people who have been affected by some monster of sorts. He attempts to track down what the actual creature is, or if the attack was based on superstition. His sources are local persons affected by the monster in question, local experts, and he also sometimes brings in outside expertise to review the clues. It's a very diverse program with lots of angles and perspectives.
The host is so eager to solve mysteries that his character comes across as pretty genuine. I watched his program when it was picked up by Rifftrax and was able to view three of the shows. They are interesting and I wish the rest of the series was available. Hoping to find them online at some point.
Amber (2014)
Only rated a 5 because (see the comments because spoilers)
The dad implodes his life and never recovers. That is horribly sad. I understand that a kidnapping is normally never resolved and it is heartbreaking, so I get the ending. I just hate seeing the mom and son get on with their lives while the dad, a very hard working and loving yet desperate man, destroy his life rather than getting on with his life.
Based on the way the last episode ends, she's dead, and gone, and will never be heard from again. I just wish the dad would have moved forward. I won't watch it again. Too sad.
The Goes Wrong Show (2019)
The best show ever
I can't say enough good things about this show. Each episode is rewatchable numerous times because there are so many jokes that you always discover something new to laugh at.
The premise is a team known as the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society selects unknown plays to put on for a studio audience. Sadly, the play never quite goes according to script. Ensue hilarious results! There is lots of physical comedy as well as misspoken lines and random objects doing the unexpected. You just never know how much can go wrong during a show, but you can bet it will be hilarious.
The show's style is friendly to all ages, with enough slapstick to keep the kids laughing while the adults are keeping pace with the inside jokes that are weaved in every line. It's talent at its best, something rarely seen these days.
Here's to hoping the episodes keep coming.
The Meg (2018)
I liked this movie
I didn't read the books, just FYI, so that might make a difference. I'm a fan of campy movies and this one fits the bill. The summary is accurate, crazy huge shark attacks everything and everyone in it's path. People are dumb and use poor judgement to defeat it until the hero comes up with an actually decent plan and yay! Shark is dead! Honestly it's a fun ride and I enjoyed it enough to watch it more than once. Nothing memorable as far as funny scenes or quotes IMHO, but still a fun shark attack movie. Hoping for a sequel!
Perry Mason (2020)
Created an account just to flush this trash
I was so excited to see a possible reboot. What a horrible disgusting mess! This isn't Perry Mason, this is a bunch of names commandeered by the highest bidder and rewritten to reflect the more vulgar garbage that most studios crank out today. There is no class here, it is a big fat zero. Don't support these stupid studios, avoid them so they stop strip mining classics.
Fatal Beauty (1987)
Decent movie to watch
Enjoyable movie, albeit a bit violent for my liking. Whoopi shows sentiment and goofiness at the same time. She and Sam Elliot are an odd combination tho, but it seems to work. Whoopi plays a drug cop who made some poor choices as a young mother. She is attempting to pay back society for her mistakes by being a caring cop. She tends to be the butt of the department, but her devotion to her job is endearing. Sam Elliot is self-righteous and not entirely believable, I mean, who would be a body guard for a drug baron and then for a drug cop? Just a bit of a stretch. Still, the movie is better than middle. Bottom line - I wouldn't rush out and buy the DVD, but I do enjoy watching it when it comes on TV.
