Pushes The Climate Change Myth
1 August 2023
I've been following the UFO issue for many decades and have been well aware of Stephen Greer.

Initially his documentaries were very interesting. In fact they mostly still are as they know how to produce a good doc.

The problem I ask is "why does a random emergency room doctor know everything about the universe and life, and is called in to debrief US presidents and generals". It's kind of preposterous to say the least! It's like he's taken the Billie Meier cult nonsense and taken it to the next level.

He has collected a very impressive rogue gallery of "witnesses" that are borderline credible. I think that's the most impressive part of his "work".

But again, he's definitely got a messiah complex.

In this documentary he's jumped aboard the currently popular "Climate Change Crisis" myth. Right off the bat they cite climate change claims and predictions that have been proven false decades ago. He even pushes the "overpopulation" as a bad sign when in fact any species that is growing is a sign of thriving.

We know based on NOAA satellite data that snow coverage in the Northern Hemisphere has been increasing for the past 60 years (nobody mentions this).

We know that the earth's green spaces have increased massively - the size of the continental US - over the past 100 years. And NO this is not in snow covered areas, but rather in our deserts (Sahara has greened the most).

We know that the earth was warmer during the Medieval times and Roman Warm Period - and humans and crops thrived.

Polar Bear population has grown 500% over the past 60 years. Famine is at an all time low. Death due to climate related incidents (which mostly are from cold not heat) are at an all time low down 90% in the past century.

The "thousands of species are becoming extinct every hour" is also a debunked myth.

Most of these achievements have come from relatively abundant and affordable energy like coal. MORE people are dying from this energy being villainized and shutting down of things like coal plants making energy unaffordable.

And btw, if this so-called "free energy" that he talks about does exist, guess what? It will cause populations to rise even more, cities will grow substantially faster, and third world countries will come to be 2nd and 1st world countries even faster than they already are. What then? The catastrophists are going to call that "bad" and do everything they can to make that energy unavailable to control "overpopulation".

I guess he's got to sell views to make money from the grift and Climate Change Crisis is the current best way to get eyes on your cause.

Other than that, again, well made doc but mostly fiction imho.

The Leftovers (2014–2017)

Unique, very solid show!
5 April 2023
I'm a big fan of shows that are a bit off the beaten track, usually shows that are serious with a bit of comedy on the side (like Barry).

I had NEVER heard of this show, ever and after watching it I'm shocked at how this was the case. This is one of the best kept secrets of the past 5 years imho.

Every season takes on a bit of a different main theme, but they are all very good. Season 3 is a bit dragged out compared to the first 2 but it's still extremely entertaining.

The casting is all very well done, and the acting is really good.

The thing I like about this show is that it is unique and it had me guessing all the way until the very last episode. This is SO rare these days as most shows are just remakes of others and are very predictable.

Even the ending is very satisfying and memorable (without giving any spoilers).

I'm shocked at the quality content HBO keeps putting out when other networks like Netflix put out 95% garbage and have maybe one or two big draws. And no wokeness at all in this show (maybe it's because this was a few years ago before it all hit the fan).

If you like shows like Walking Dead, you should love this one!

Ted Lasso (2020–2023)

Season 1 AMAZING! Season 2 AWEFUL
17 February 2023
I had held off for a long time watching this as I thought you had to like soccer to enjoy the show. Finally in 2023 I gave in and was pleasantly surprised!

Season 1 was fantastic and reminded me of the great "fish out of water" shows/movies from the 1980s and 1990s. Everything about this was exceptional with lots of humour, but also a deep dark side as well. There was tension throughout but Sedekis' character was always trying to see the bright side of things. Casting was also fantastic...

... but then Season 2 happened. What happened to be exact?

Season 2 is mostly bad to be blunt. It was like they fired all the writers, and hired some middle aged women who had never seen an episode but gave them cliffsnotes about the first season. This show became basically "Sex & The City 2022" and all the tension and character was sucked out of the show completely.

It was like everybody was given SSRI's and all the tension was lost. Ted became watered down and all the main/male (white) characters were relegated to secondary roles. The middle eastern trainer became a head coach. The captain of the team is relegated to a boy toy and the main "protagonist" is all but forgotten so that one of the black soccer players can become the best on the team (Apple's wokeness shining through)... though soccer itself takes a very backseat role to the stories about girl power and older women sleeping with younger men (meanwhile the older man sleeping with younger women is villified).

It became really hard to get through season 2 to be honest.

Season 1 for me was a solid 9/10.

Season 2 was at best 6/10.

Peacemaker (2022– )

Good, But Not Great - 7/10
10 December 2022
I am a Superman fan but didn't know much about Peacemaker and the Suicide Squad. With all the high ratings I figured I'd give it a go.

I have a very strong nose for wokeness, and Initially I was very turned off by all the woke/anti-white/anti-male vibes the show gave off. After the first episode I had enough.

But then somebody pointed out to me that the show was being satirical and pointing fun at all sides so I decided to continue.

They definitely do make white men all look like dumb rednecks and the women are all the "strong boss babe yass queens" that seem to have more balls than the men and have to save the day... even the token overweight, black, lesbian who has no training at all. The actual "superheroes" in the show are actually very effeminate and don't want violence, especially Peacemaker himself.

Judo Master? Well he gets his butt kicked by 2 women - one of whom isn't trained - but can easily toss around 2 trained "superheroes" who are bigger than him.

The whole "we are a team, and we are all equal" thing does turn me off and why I stopped watching so many TV superhero shows like Supergirl and even Superman & Lois. It's weird... new shows aim for heroic "socialism" and "homogeneity" rather than have one or two standouts (as Superman, Peacemaker, and Supergirl should be).

But with that said, the show is quite entertaining, but is just missing something "extra", something I can't place that could get this into the 8/10 territory. I think maybe the show is a bit lower budget (seems that way at times) or maybe some of the casting isn't bang on, but it can at times give off a "cheap" vibe. But still, I liked it.

It's not deep and the comedy never makes me laugh out loud (like say with Righteous Gemstones or Barry), but it is light and helps pass the time.

I don't really get why there are so many 9 and 10 reviews on this. If I compare this and think of the average show out there, 7/10 is a solid choice and respectable if you ask me.

I wonder if the next season will get a bigger budget and maybe correct a few of the weaknesses of the first?

Mostly continues where iCarly left off
27 November 2022
Even though I was an adult when iCarly was in its prime, I enjoyed watching it because it sort of reminded me of a Seinfeld but with kids.

Spencer was very much like a Kramer character, though he reminded me a lot of Jim Carey and actually would have me laughing pretty hard at times. He's still pretty decent in this new version.

The cool thing is that everybody mostly looks the same as they did when the original left off. The stories don't quite have the same bite as the old ones and sometimes feel a bit hollow.

The negatives though are the loss of Sam, and the new wokeness. Of course they now replaced Sam with a LGB black character. They also had to make Freddie's kid black and had to throw in a trans man for good measure.

It's not great, but it is good despite the shortcomings.

Objectively great, subjectively slow
24 November 2022
I had been looking for a new series to watch and came across this one and was mostly pleasantly surprised.

I still prefer Mandalorian and Boba Fett to this as they are a bit faster paced and a bit more interesting to me.

Objectively I can see how well made and acted this show is. It's like watching a long movie. I am not as drawn into it as so many other people, maybe because I was never really a Star Wars nerd/enthusiast.

The story is very deep and sometimes a bit difficult to follow for me. It can also be quite depressing for much of the middle of the series (at least to me). I've never been into really deep dramas as usually I like shows with a 50/50 drama/comedy combo.

The characters mostly grew on me though and by the end of the show I really enjoyed the experience.

Objectively this show is an 8.5 imho.

Subjectively this show is a 7 for me.

UFO Witness: Arcturians and Black Triangles (2022)
Season 2, Episode 6

Bad Fiction
11 August 2022
After the first season spent a lot of time getting credible , vetted, high ranking witnesses almost always with hard evidence and sticking to the facts, season 2 has thrown that all out the window.

I don't know if just interviewing random people about dreams and hallucinations they had gets more views or what but this season is almost unwatchable. And all the while there is the typical-UFO-doc type narrator in the background giving completely nonsensical, hyperbolic, silly theories/questions about what "could possibly be going on!!!?"

The kooks are going to like this one, but sadly nobody who likes real evidence will.

What Happened To This Show?!
25 July 2022
The first season of this show was fantastic.

Not only did they have extremely credible witnesses, the witnesses and stories were very unique. Also, virtually every witness had solid evidence of their experiences.

This season though, that's all been thrown out the window and we are now being shown average, everyday people who have stories but 0 evidence. What good is that?

On top of that, the voice over guy has over-the-top "theories" of what might be going on, based in no fact. It might as well all be fiction. AND there are two regular "Alien Experts" who chime in from time to time. How in the heck can there be experts on something that most likely doesn't exist? They talk like they went to "Alien University" and know everything. Impossible.

This episode was particularly bad (as was the previous one).

The addition of the female investigator is great, she seems to be talented. But the rest of the show is now very much run of the mill UFO stuff we see everywhere... no evidence, few credible witnesses, and lots of theories (which are mostly meaningless).

I wonder if the well dried up in Season 1 as far as unique, credible witnesses with evidence goes.

Almost Perfect!
9 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This is the Star Trek I remember. The wokeness level is lower than Discovery (terrible) and Picard (terrible). The only issue is that almost the entire bridge crew is female which is kind of annoying. It's fine to have a mix but seems really off to make it entirely female other than Spock and the Captain. Even having the head of the Romulans as a female is also a bit too woke for my liking. But again, this pales in comparison to Discover and Picard.

The episode itself was very, very good, with great writing, great effects and great throwbacks to the original series. The only small issue (as others have mentioned) is the poor casting for Kirk. He's a good actor, but looks nothing like Kirk at all and has none of the character of Kirk (that is down to writing). In fact, Pike seemed more like a Kirk clone than Kirk himself.

Excited to see next season but still worry they will woke it up like Discover. That show was so good the first couple seasons but season 3 and 4 were disasters.

Nostalgic
7 July 2022
This episode may not have been completely original as I think it's a very difficult thing to do now after all the seasons and episodes of the original Star Trek series. However, it felt good to watch.

The acting was great and the story was very well told, and I actually was very emotional at times.

It's weird to think that this series was originally a comedy. It is however, more Star Trek than the actual new Star Trek series (Discovery S3/S4 were woke junk, Picard was very mediocre and woke as well, Strange New Worlds is better but still has some wokeness issues).

Watching this season - especially this episode - really bring me back to watching Star Trek TNG, Deep Space Nine (my favourite), and Voyageur.

After I was done watching, the events of the show actually made me think about the story, and how I would have felt if I were in the same situation. That's actually pretty rare these days and something I've not felt after watching Star Trek for many years.

OK, But Same Issues...
26 June 2022
Overall the special effects and casting on this show is great. The writing and storyline are good. I actually enjoy the story about the kids in school more than the Superman stuff because since this is a TV show the superhero part of it can be watered down (due to budget and other constraints).

One constant problem with Superman TV shows is that EVERYBODY can become a superhero on Superman's level (or beyond) just by finding some chemical or by building a "power suit" of some sort. It really diminishes Superman being special when dozens of average humans can do what he does. This was one of the big reasons I stopped watching the Supergirl series. Know karate? Go toe to toe with Supergirl. Ugh. It's not as bad in this series, but it's still annoying.

Smallville probably dealt with this issue better than any other series.

Gets Better With Age
30 April 2022
When the movie came out, it got a very mediocre reception from what I remember. When I first saw it I would have given it a 7/10 max, with Robert Downey's performance really saving the whole movie. But as time has passed, this is one of those movies that has grown to almost be legendary. I think it's because satire is mostly lost these days. It's sad to think a movie like this could never be made today.

Honestly, this was one of Robert Downey's best performances.

Finally Something Unique!
13 April 2022
Since about 2005, it felt like every movie and every TV series (and most music) was just re-hashed versions of shows that have already been made. It's very rare to find something with a completely new idea.

I can watch almost any show now and can guess what the deep meaning and plot is from the get-go (I guessed what happened in 6th Sense within the first 10 minutes). But this show has me kind of stumped.

Now, here in 2022 I found Severance and boy am I glad.

It may not be the most fast-paced, exciting, show. It's not super sci-fi, nor is it a hilariously funny (it's not a comedy btw). The premise has never been done before (I don't think) and it just works (makes sense as this is an Apple TV production).

This is most likely my favourite show of the past couple years.

Too Much Wokeness
10 March 2022
As is common with many new shows there is way too much forced wokeness in this.

The humour isn't funny and the characters are not likeable at all.

I find this show to be very silly. It almost feels as if a studio gave a bunch of 8 year old boys a laptop and told them to write the script and dialogue.

It's very silly, with lots of fart jokes, peepee jokes, etc.

Not Great
28 January 2022
I saw the plot for this and it was exactly the type of show I usually love. However, I found this to be very disappointing.

The production value in Season 1 is really bad. By Season 2 and 3 it does improve but that still doesn't help the very mediocre writing and acting.

I pushed through all of the series hoping it would get better but it went from bad to "OK" and I actually couldn't wait to be finished. It sort of reminded me of the kind of writing I saw in Corner Gas, but not even that good (I was never a fan of that show). The quality reminded me of what I would see at a local theatre group but not great for television imho.

I'm glad to see others enjoyed this but for me it will be mostly forgettable. It had potential but never came close to meeting that for me.

6 January 2022
I have heard so much about this movie over the years I finally gave it a watch and I was mostly disappointed.

The acting was great. The casting was great. The cinematography was top notch. But the story was pretty much just senseless violence as is common with American movies.

At the end of the day it didn't make me laugh or smile; it didn't leave me pondering my existence or the meaning of life. There was really nothing to remember.

This Is Not A Comedy
9 December 2021
I give this a solid 7/10 as it was slow, but the characters were quite good. It's been a long time since I hated a character as much as I do Rudd's.

This isn't a comedy and I don't think it's marketed as such, but for some reason people jump to that conclusion based upon the actors. I see some reviews saying things like "only 1 laugh per hour" or something like that. They have the totally wrong genre here.

This is a good show.

21 September 2021
Initially I found this to be a filler of time: entertaining, but nothing overly funny like say, Rick and Morty.

By the end of the first season the show really started to show more promise and into the second season it is still improving which is great.

Probably my favourite character is Riker when he makes the odd appearnce.

Has Promise, But Too Slow.
15 September 2021
I loved seeing Picard back on screen again, and the show has a great plot. However, I think the show was about 2x too long.

Also, swearing in the Star Trek universe (much like Discovery) seems completely out of place. Yes, people in real life swear, but this is science fiction, bordering on fantasy and it seem very out of place. Perhaps this is done to appease the millennial and zoomer crowd who are not smart enough to string together a sentence without dropping F bombs.

Season 1&2 Good; Season 3 Bad!
10 September 2021
Season 1 and 2 were amazing! They were not like the old Star Trek tv series and break the mold but were amazing to look at and full of excitement!

However, things took a huge downturn in Season 3. The biggest issue is that it turned into a SJW's wet dream that promoted left wing American ideals (I'm not American myself).

There were 0 straight white male characters on Discovery in Season 3. Think about that for a second. The only straight white male characters in the entire season were the bad guys and they had very little screen time. We got a character that was called "they/them" (ridiculous), gay characters, black characters, and mostly females ran Discovery (and one alien). It was so overboard it became unwatchable as the plot itself was also very weak.

I went from a huge fan in the first 2 seasons to actually hating the show in the 3rd and forced myself to watch all of it.

My rating of S1 and S2 is 9 stars My rating of S3 is 5 stars

Average rating is 7 stars.

Almost Perfect!
1 September 2021
This is up there with my favourite movie of all time!

It's like a mix of Contact (one of my previous favourites) and 2001: A Space Odyssey.

What really puts this movie over-the-top in it's epicness is the audio and soundtrack. I saw it in a large theatre when it was released and the soundtrack and the audio engineering was the best I've ever witnessed - not even close. The sounds were distorted and they were supposed to be that way. This is by far Hans Zimmer's best work in a movie IMHO. You have to see this with a good speaker setup because otherwise you are doing the movie a big disservice.

Acting and casting is spectacular, and the story is riveting and emotional.

I have seen this movie many times and always find something new to like about it.

Not only is this show funny, but it's really quite deep and disturbing as well. This is almost perfect entertainment IMHO!
