Uncoupled (2022)
Slow
Moves at a snail's pace. It wasn't engaging enough to watch and used it mostly as background while I was multitasking. There's a fine line between a character working through a break-up and whining through a break-up. Nothing to see here.
Coming 2 America (2021)
Turned if off after an hour
I tried. I gave it a shot, but I couldn't take it any longer. The plot was a mess. Disappointed. Come on Paramount Pictures.Do better.
The Lady and the Dale (2021)
Tell the Story
You ruined it with the animation. A good story was ruined because the makers of the film wanted to be clever and "artistic." They turned what could have been a meaningful study of a con and the impact of her actions into a cartoonish depiction.
The Flight Attendant (2020)
Enjoyed the Flight
I've watched each episode and counted the days down until the next. Kaley Cuoco's performance is pitch perfect. Her character is complex and she could have easily fallen into the trap of creating a character that was a caricature or stereotypical. The fact that her character was multi-dimensional is a testament to Ms. Cuoco's acting talent. She and Zosia Mamet had great chemistry as friends who appeared at first glance to be polar opposites. The only glaring issue was the storyline of Rosie Perez. At times, it hurt the pace of the show, and if the storyline was removed, it wouldn't have any real effect on the plot. I love Rosie Perez and hope that The Flight Attendant will be renewed and she will return with a more important and integrated storyline.
La vita davanti a sé (2020)
Disappointed
I will preface my review by saying that I read all the hype before seeing the movie and, perhaps I would have enjoyed the movie more if I had watched it without expectations. If Sophia Loren was not in the film, I doubt that it would garner the attention that it has. The relationship between the main characters (Momo, Madame Rosa) was rushed and inorganic. Sometimes less is more and in this case, too many themes led to a superficial exploration of the characters and the pacing of the film appeared forced. I wanted to believe in the bond between Momo and Madame Rosa, but I didn't. Not a criticism for the actors, but for the writers and director.
Coming & Going (2011)
Sasha Alexander for the Save
Definitely a flawed story on several different levels; however, Sasha Alexander's performance elevated the material to the point that I wanted to give the film 90 minutes of my time.
