Dune Part 3
10 March 2024
I am not a professional movie critic by any stretch of the imagination. I'm just an every day person who likes to watch sci-fi movies. And this story has always been one of my all-time favorites. All I can tell you is that I am a huge Dune fan and that I saw the one in 1983 / 1984 (something like that), and I enjoyed it. I read the book, and I enjoyed that as well, but this movie was absolutely fantastic and when it starts to stream I will purchase it just so that I can have Dune part one and part two. But in watching this movie, I am wondering to myself is there going to be part three. I will be there for part three, for sure. I thought all of the actors did an amazing job in representing the characters as best that they could. I just thought it was absolutely amazing and I do want to see it again. I do recommend going to see this movie.

GREAT "B" MOVIE
29 February 2024
It's just plain fun. It's best not to go in with any expectation. Just enjoy the ride, laugh a lot, and take it for what it's worth. What it's supposed to do it does do. It makes you laugh, a lot of satire, dark humor, gory as hell, so much gratuitous blood it's crazy. But it's a good time. I had never heard of the movie before and came across it by happenstance. And I am just absolutely humored by the whole thing. The one liners, the satire, the comedy, the drama or lack there of, all of it. I thought it was worth the ride, I thought it was a lot of fun, and there aren't a lot of movies out there that are , doing this kind of thing anymore.

Creepy...
20 May 2023
All I'm going to say is that it's an underrated movie - no gore, but disturbingly psychologically creepy and scary. I got a little anxiety watching it... Great direction, the lighting, the musical score, and wherever they got this kid from... just wow!!! I don't typically like scary kid movies, but this one was very good. I feel like if it was me, I would have left in the middle of the night and never looked back... It's far better than the trailers elude to. It draws you in and you can't get out until the credits roll. Yeah, it's that good. I was not expecting this level of sheer creepy-ness. Now I can't shake it.

Love it when a girl kicks ass...
31 March 2023
I feel like everyone is trying to compare it to the original movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger. I don't think it can be compared to that movie, it was done in a different time, a different place and for all intents and purposes, a different cinematic universe. That being said, the cinematography in this movie was outstanding, I thought the action and the emotion that it brings out of you was great. I was rooting for all the good guys the predator didn't know what hit him. The movies in between this one were OK, fun to watch, but this one really sucked me in. And I enjoy that in the movie. It is a shame that it was only streaming, because the cinematography in this movie was outstanding, and it would've been beautiful on the big screen. But I give it a nine, because I love it when a girl kicks ass. πŸ‘ŠπŸΎ

Just Dayam...
30 December 2021
This is, by far, the strangest movie I've ever seen. It is so allegorical, but just nuts. I don't want to give anything away, but I like strange and bizarre - this movie delivers... in spades. The acting was fantastic, the directing is great, the story is so crazy... filmed in Iceland, and I believe even the Icelandic setting is a character in this movie, but that ending tho'... Just DAYAM!! Didn't see it coming! πŸ‘πŸ½

SciFi-ness for sci-fi fans
24 October 2021
I loved it. For me, nothing to pick apart. I saw the'84 (in '84, and few hundred times after that!) version and really liked it. '21 version I absolutely love. The fact that the characters had more depth to them is probably what did it for me. I enjoyed it immensely - if I had to pick something about which to complain, it'd be That I had NO idea that there were two parts. About 30 minutes into it, I figured it out for myself - given the depth in which the characters are portrayed. I'll be watching this one a few dozen times before part 2 debuts. A great story portrayed by two very different directors - both are good on their own merits!

Warning: Spoilers
I read through some of the reviews and saw the negative reviews about Ms. Washington's performance, more directly, her facial expressions. I agree with one of the other reviews in that her character is dark and the expressions are from a lifetime of bs and extreme turmoil. She is guarded, fiercely protective of her life and highly skeptical of all people, particularly White people. She understands her position in life and the part she plays. Ms. Witherspoon's character also comes from a dark place as well, and very constructed. They live in two completely different worlds. Ms. Witherspoon's character GETS to live in one world, while Ms. Washington's character HAS to live in two. Something I understand personally - so I definitely understand the facial expressions.

All that aside, it's a great mini series and the two main actors are absolutely fantastic! Every award they receive is well earned. Bravo!!!!

Awesome

I thought it was a movie that was able to capture the heart of what Ma Rainey's band went through in one day of rehearsal. I thought it captured the mood and environment of 1920s Chicago, and from already coming up from the south and then coming into Chicago to actually see and feel the difference of how she was treated in the south versus being in Chicago. I thought it was fabulous in the sense that you got to see a woman who knew exactly what was being done to her and was doing her best to control the situation as best she could and to be able to keep her dignity and honor as only she knew how. She understood that she has a black woman did not have a lot of power but she had a gift that the white people wanted, and she held onto those reigns as tightly as possible until she couldn't hold onto them anymore. I feel that Chadwick Boseman's character was played fabulously, in that here's this young man who thinks he's just the cats meow, and the rest of the bandmembers were older and more accomplished and understood how the game is played. They were really trying to explain to him how this works. And Chadwick Boseman's character, yes he deserves an posthumous Oscar for that performance, played a young know it all young person to the tee. The anger and resentment of the character was visceral as was the character played by Viola Davis. The costuming, the dialogue, the setting, everything about it was fantastic. It reminded me of the stories my grandmother and great grandmother told me coming up in those times. πŸ‘πŸΎπŸ‘πŸΎπŸ‘πŸΎ

2 different movies

I enjoyed the movie greatly. It's not supposed to be a cartoon and shame on folks for trying to make that comparison. This isn't a kid movie. I think people wanted a live action version of the cartoon, like what happened with the Lion King. You guys who planned it need to grow up and see it for what what is. Merry Christmas.

Judge for yourself

If you're looking for a Marvel Comics - type action movie, then this isn't for you. This is the telling of a very intricate story and the seemingly benign character connections. You HAVE TO see Unbreakable and Split before you see this movie, otherwise you'll leave ticked off... This is a thinker movie... I enjoyed it thoroughly and will go see it again. The directing, acting, and sorrye line are very good. πŸ‘πŸΎπŸ‘πŸΎπŸ‘πŸΎ Two snaps in Z formation!!!
