Ozark (2017)
Season 4 is a shadow of previous seasons
As far as storylines and character development go, I think the writers have been sniffing too many of Darlene's poppies.
I started with a score of 10, then minus 1 for Jonah becoming a brat, minus 1 for Marty becoming a pathetic weakling, and a big minus 1 for the sneaky implication of voting machine fraud - don't bring that crap into any show please.
I can only just deal with the plot being sub par, but you gotta do better with the characters, or the whole thing loses its shine.
Infinite (2021)
Infinite rubbish
Mr Wahlberg, what the heck were you thinking putting your hand up for this steaming pile of garbage?
This was an over-acted/over-produced hybrid of Cloud Atlas, Jumper, and Hancock, with Fast and Furious style car chases that went on and on and on - infinitum.
I'll save you the trouble of finding out yourself - don't watch this.
The Last Duel (2021)
Disappointed
One star for the line up, but otherwise, save your time. Don't watch this. The plot was no better than a soap opera on repeat. What a monumental waste of acting talent. I hope they make better choices in future.
A gave it an hour, and walked out.
Old (2021)
A perfectly strange tale
Sit back and enjoy this uniquely odd story. Don't spoil the ride looking for plot holes. Just take it for what it is.
If you're a fan of Black Mirror or Inside No.9, you'll get a kick out of this.
Brave New World (2020)
OTT gratuitous titillation
I like a bit of titillation as much as the next guy, but even Huxley would cringe at this adaptation. People, we know that sex is part of the narrative, but not the only part.
Episodes end up being 20 to 30 minutes long when you skip these scenes. They don't actually move the plot along.
Disappointed. This could have been a great series.
Ozark: All In (2020)
Far out!
What a ride people. This whole season has had everything you could ever want for your binge addiction. Even a subtle mind f$$$ about who did what to who in past seasons. Very clever. Now I have to watch them all again.
Westworld: Parce Domine (2020)
Hoped for better
Really did my best to keep an open mind after the S2 nonsensical disaster. But this first episode is an incoherent mess. Could barely understand a word of dialogue (is that an artistic choice?) and characters/plotlines are awful. Well, except for Dolores.
Does Aaron Paul get paid by the tear?
At this point, I could happily give up watching the rest of S3.
Joker (2019)
Just pandering
I'm grateful I didn't watch this at the movies. I would have walked out. You've actually taken the p*ss out of all of us and should be ashamed.
The acting is fine, whatever. But why did this need to be about The Joker? Why? It could just as easily been a psychological drama about anyone with mental illness. Please stop all this pandering to the Academy. Sickeningly transparent to me that you wanted to create Heath Ledger fever again.
And honestly, who the heck cares how the Joker became the villain anymore?
Succession: This Is Not for Tears (2019)
Oh boy oh boy oh boy...
This has been the best series of its genre. Forget Dallas or Dynasty, or even Billions, they pale into insignificance compared to the betrayals and doublecrossing found here.
Do yourself a favour and watch.
Succession: Nobody Is Ever Missing (2018)
Wow
Awesome drama. Didn't think it would be much from the trailers, but wow, I'm hooked. The characters are sublimely awful to each other. Poor old Ken just can't catch a break. Looking forward to binging season 2!
The Walking Dead: Bonds (2019)
Hallelujah
Really good episode. Felt the story was finally moving along. Loved the touching struggle and tension between Daryl and Carol. Would have been a 10/10 without the Negan and Alpha scenes.
The Walking Dead: What It Always Is (2019)
Nope, still not there yet
Stop stop stop. Writers, please regroup and start again. Alpha and the whisperers are just not believable. Not to mention how their overacting makes me want to hurl.
The Walking Dead: Silence the Whisperers (2019)
Aimless and pointless
Suddenly nothing happened. Each scene as pointless to the story as the last.
The Walking Dead: We Are the End of the World (2019)
Not the least bit believable
I totally get people changing/devolving for survival, but this episode was utterly ludicrous. Painfully awful acting and just not believable as an origin story. Insanity with no rhyme or reason.
This is not what I signed up for. Back to the drawing board fellas.
3 stars for the cool opening credits.
El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (2019)
Disappointed
Why did we need closure for Jesse? Let's face it, most of what happened was his own doing. The character was on a self-destructive bent from season 2. All Walt ever did was try to save his time and again. Jesse never grateful. Always an emo or acting like a spoiled brat. But always drawn back to Walt and making meth.
Why couldn't Jesse break bad and become a version of Heisenberg? Or maybe even allude to it in the final scene? So you see Jesse from the drivers window, driving off, and then the camera pans around to the back of the car, and we can see boxes of lab equipment..... roll credits. Now THAT would have been a perfect end to his story arc.
