No One Will Save You (2023)
ET phone home
And tell them not to bother with this movie... I should know any movies on any of these pay for streaming movie apps. Will probably not be that great ...maybe it's because I'm really not into alien movies, I just found it very very boring... The scenery was very nice and the alien was kind of cute but I lost interest quite quickly.
Why does the main character never talk? Why are people scared of aliens ?? Obviously they're smarter than us they found a way to get here. This movie did not answer any of these questions.
Also I think the alien was introduced to soon into the movie ... let it stew for a while... is it a spirit is it a poltergeist? Is it a stalker is it her BFF , Maude? It seemed rushed.
The Lost Daughter (2021)
Pleasantly surprised
Had heard negative reviews from friends , so wasn't expecting much, but was surprised that I enjoyed...or rather was enthralled in this movie...besides Olivia , my favorite actress, she truly. Is superb in this role , I can't help but wonder ,how many women have felt , for even a brief time, as a young mother , what it would be like to just escape from your life. I had ,( thought, never acted upon) so hit home in that way.
I am glad I didn't skip this movie , because of others opinions , although a slow burn, worth it, if for nothing else, for Ms. Colman's acting.
Poseidon (2006)
Someone said forgettable
That's my opinion also, LOVE disaster movies. Poseidon is one of my favorites, saw at the theater when I was 12, fell in love with disasters then, this remake tho, leaves me flat. Special effects were great! Have been on a few cruises, so seemed very real in that way, the cast tho , for some reason I could not connect with , to me that's important..not a bad watch for a bored rainy afternoon ...but as usual not near as great as the original.
Madhouse (2004)
Not a bad little film
Wasn't expecting much, so was surprised that it wasn't terrible ...and even though, I usually guess twists, didn't this time. A few "jump" moments, maybe a tad too much blood for my taste ...but eerie enough to keep me entertained for awhile. Also always fun to see some familiar faces.
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021)
Not my cup ...
Of horror/ scary movie, Not a fan of exorcism type movies, so prob why it wasn't my cup of tea.
Found the movie really dragged on , too much " in your face" moments , A tad fake, phony , been there, done that tiresome antics. Maybe time to close the chapter on The Conjuring sequels....but that's just my opinion.
Songbird (2020)
Brutal
A resounding no. , completely lost interest 30 mins in, enough of the young lovers glaring at each other thru their phones , get on with the damn story, they finally did ... wasn't much better. What could of been a decent movie for these times was a complete fail. I wonder what goes through the minds of people writing, directing and staring in this dribble nonsense.
Southbound (2015)
Enough already
I should know when a movie claims itself to be a " horror" film , I may be in for blood and gore...this movie has blood and gore...blood and gore , then added in a bit more blood and gore.
What a shame it look promising ...great setting , eerie desert roads, old cafes, truck stops... and that's where the intrigue ended for me.
But.... if you like blood and gore this one's for you.
The Last Blockbuster (2020)
Lil nostalgia
Cute documentary, not the greatest, but def not bad...made me nostalgic to go back to those simpler times, Block Buster with my then very young kids, choosing movies, video games, snacks for family night. Interesting story about Blockbuster , the rise and fall. It's worth a watch.
Nomadland (2020)
Different..
Good different... if you want action packed drama and fireworks, probably not the movie for you. I found it very enjoyable, never knew about this lifestyle before, and although I hear the movie glamorized it a bit, still learned something new. Loved that most of the " characters " were real people not actors, which made it more authentic. Frances is as usual outstanding !
Palm Springs (2020)
Blaaa
Hate when you are eager to watch a movie, read great reviews ...and then blaaa... falls flat...maybe I'm just too old for this movie, prob that's it , maybe a 40 and younger thing??
Granted I turned it off after 25 mins, as I had not so much as cracked a smile. I really liked Groundhog Day , but this, I found confusing , slapstick and...well not funny. Still love Adam tho
Hell House LLC (2015)
Pleasantly, eerily surprised
Just came upon this, figured I'd give it 20 mins to see, but ...I really enjoyed it !
Some discreet creepy moments , that gave me shivers . The acting ...well...mehhh but that's ok , enough eeriness to cover that. I'd def suggest a watch for a fun scare. Happy Haunting !
The Oath (2018)
I actually laughed out loud ...
And I'm not easy to please, comedy movie wise. I could soooo relate to all of this, have lived through my share of holiday dinners with family members who do not see eye to eye politically ..not fun! blood family, in laws , it's been years of tense times eating my turkey thru grit teeth , so watching this , I pinpointed my brother in law, niece's boyfriend , uppity son in law , they were all there !
There are some very funny discreet moments also.
It was a nice change to sit back and laugh at ourselves , and when it all comes down to it..remembering blood is thicker then water , and nothing is more important then family ....for the most part :-)
The Lodge (2019)
Chilling ...
Not things that go bump in the night chilling, or blood and guts chilling....Psychologically chilling . Sad, and eerie and confusing, and at times even hopeful, you don't know who you are rooting for from one minute to the next. Very good acting , def a must see, I'd recommend
It's a Disaster (2012)
A little sunshine..little
After this last month of doom and gloom, I found this movie, and gave it a try.
Was pleasantly surprised, I wasn't expecting too much, but this movie actually made me laugh !
Think everyone can relate or know someone like at least one of these people/ couples.
A little crazy and silly, but theses days, definitely a breath of fresh air
Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
Thumbs up from this chick ..
Loved a lot about this movie, the whole 60s SoCal thing, had me smiling, being a kid and living in California, loved seeing all the nostalgia. Was nice to see Leo and Brad, together, being funny, always liked Leo, now a Brad fan. It was a tad long, and at times seemed to go in too many directions, but all in all a cute little movie, and the
music was great!
The end made me a little sad...what if...what if...
Marriage Story (2019)
May hit a nerve...
Reading negative reviews , and wondering if it may be because it didn't hit home, like it did for many of us, if you've ever been thru a divorce, especially with children, you may find this hits a nerve, it did with me. I found the acting superb, the chemistry between Johansson and Driver, very real.
Was nice to have a bit of comedy relief thrown in also. It dragged maybe 20 mins long, but all in all, very good
A.M.I. (2019)
What the...
Heck did I just watch? And why did I watch it to the end??
Although actually the end really gave me a chuckle, so I'm glad I did. Sadly some of the concepts of this movie are not too far fetched, with some people seemingly allowing their gadgets and electronics to take over their life. But all in all it's just a silly little movie , you know for when you're folding laundry
Enter Nowhere (2011)
Pleasant surprise!
Wasn't expecting much at first, and was a tad slow to start, but stuck with it, and I'm glad I did. Someone mentioned Twilight Zone, and that comes to mind, also the show The Sixth Sense from the 70s.
A syfy movie with a twist of time travel, definitely recommend this little gem, glad I found it
Head Count (2018)
Pleasantly surprised
Never expect much from these type movies, and although far from Oscar material, I found it different and interesting, subtly eerie, and some interesting characters. Maybe since I was a college kid on a crazy get away with friends, in a similar area, many years ago, it was somewhat relatable.
It kept my interest, and that's not easy.
Eli (2019)
Oh dear..no, just no
Think I'd rather of deflead my cat, then watch this monstrosity. It's as if the writers purposely meant for it to be so bad. I can't say much else, as I'm not really sure what I just watched.
Candyman (1992)
Not sure what I watched
Must be missing something, hate that. Husband said I'd love this movie, right up my alley. He was wrong
It went over my head, what was the candy man suppose to represent ?? nothing made sense to me. May need a second watch, but no time soon, as I found it a real sleeper
The Evil Down the Street (2019)
Seriously??
What a waste, the horror of this movie is the wasted time , watching and waiting for something to happen, good, bad or indifferent, oh and waiting for the acting to get better. Anti climatic to say the least. Too bad, it appeared to have potential, I guess you can't win them all
Some Guy Who Kills People (2011)
Nice Surprise!
Have a habit of choosing mediocre to lousy movies for a lazy Saturday afternoon, but hit the jackpot with this little gem ! It was both funny, heart warming , with a little horror thrown in. Fell in love with just about all the characters. Definitely recommend!
The Family (2019)
Starting to make sense ...
Very interesting, yet disturbing, documentary, things make a little more sense now, how someone can get away with the lack of morals , yet still be held in the highest esteem by those scream " we are the most moral of all" always good to have insight. Still scratching my head on how our country arrived here, but this helped somewhat. Good job
Somewhere Between (2017)
Seriously ?
Maybe it was a good watch, who knows, I couldn't get over the ridiculously bad acting...as if they went to the local high school, and grabbed the first performers they saw, no offense to high school thespians. They are actually much better. So bad, so unreal, thought it was a tongue in cheek comedy...next
