Stunning Documentary
19 July 2008
At first when I noticed this title on the cable menu, I wasn't sure what to make of it. I just didn't understand what it was. Was it a movie, a biography, what? I sat down to watch it after I had recorded it, expecting little.

This turned out to be the best documentary I've ever seen on a band. I've always loved U2 and their music, but this made me fall in love with them all over again. The live performances, beautifully filmed in black & white, were the BEST VERSIONS of some of the songs that I've ever heard. 'Bad,' 'Sunday Bloody Sunday,' and the gospel version of 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For' were raw and powerful.

But mostly what I enjoyed about this movie was that is was 99% music and little talk. The commentaries were short and the songs played all the way through. It was an intense two hours of nothing but great U2 music! I recommend this for any U2 fan, it will not disappoint!

One of my absolute FAVORITE films ever made...
13 July 2006
I don't think in all my 14 years that a movie like this has ever touched me so much. I was motivated to see it because I am a huge River Phoenix fan (not those dorky obsessive kind haha) but I got so much more out of it. The acting from these kids was absolutely breathtaking; they each portrayed their characters wonderfully. It was a good start for all of them. Since I am a girl and never really felt the "12 yr old boy friends" I didn't think it would relate to me as much but I was very wrong. The imagery was beautiful and it was somewhat believable. The jokes made me laugh out loud, all alone, in my computer room (I am listening to it behind this window as i type); especially the scene where Gordie shoots the garbage can and the jokes about the peoples "mothers" are hilarious too I make them all the time and I thought it was some new age thing but guess not! This is a 10 star film, no doubt, and completely worth seeing. I liked it more than the Godfather even. The language, even though people have found it too over-the-top, was hilarious. It's hilarious hearing these 12 yr old boys telling each other to f*** their moms because I've heard it all before and it's even funnier on camera. PLEASE WATCH THIS FILM YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!

Absolutely Phenomenal
24 June 2006
I truly enjoyed this film. It was very well done, the actors suited the parts perfectly. Sandra Bullock was beautiful and the creators of the film chose some familiar actors to relate to the parts well. But the story was FABULOUS. The only reason I didn't feel it deserved a 9 or 10 was that it was extremely hard to understand, or not understand, but fathom. It's complicated with the time and such and if you can explain this movie, please try for me because I truly could not understand how the lead characters could write to each other but not see each other and how the end happened. But the parts that I did get out of it was really very interesting and it kept me hooked the whole time. Me+sappy anything=not OK because I think females should be strong and independent and do not need a man but this movie did not portray that women can't take care of themselves without relying on a man however this was truly wonderful. A must-see.

Excellent Film
21 December 2005
This truly was one of the most phenomenal movies of 2005. The acting, story, and special effects were GREAT. I saw it twice in the theaters, and hope to get the DVD, as soon as it comes out. There is also a video game, which I hope to get for Christmas.

First of all, I think the story was just unbelievable. The book isn't very descriptive, and the director and producers did a fabulous job illustrating the story and highlighting the main events. The color was unbelievable, and the length was perfect. The bombing scene at the beginning really gave the film a strong starting point. The story could have suited to be a bit more gory, but hey, how much blood and guts can you fill a PG movie with? Even for teenagers, the story was great.

The costumes and music were also great. The orchestra was wonderful, and the Narnia Lullaby was so pretty. The dresses and suits of armor that the Pevensie children wore was great. The cast selection was perfect. This was really a great movie.

GOOD Movie
18 December 2005
The HP movies get better every time a new installment comes out. The cast is great, the special effects are perfect, and the story rocks. What else could you want in a movie? First of all, Daniel Radcliffe fits the Harry Potter part perfectly. He has the same, "Whatever, I just want to get through the school year" kind of attitude, just like in the books. This movie was also the perfect length. Every scene was well done, and I think the director did a fantastic job. Also, many teenagers along the female variety found some of the guys in here very attractive, including myself, but that's not really relevant. Anyway, I think this movie was so well done, and although the next film isn't expected to come out for a while, I really am looking forward to it.
