How love can change a person's outlook and life.
16 December 2006
A story about a courtesan who was conceived illegitimately. She met a boy (SRK's character) who was willing to help her find her mother (with no strings attached). He was willing to do anything for her. The story was complicated due to there being three possibilities of a mother. All three were very accomplished in life. Her friend (SRK's character) had issues of his own. His father couldn't stand to see his son paying attention to a courtesan. He was told to leave his love alone, and leave it a night friendship. He decided that she was worth it to him and for his relationship to continue. It's a sweet story. It doesn't have the best ending (lacking closing lines), but over all is good enough to watch.

If SRK wanted a shot at 007, well he did a great job with DON

I sat spell bound this afternoon in a theater. It was great. In my opinion a 10 for my expectations. For the first time I never wondered where the fast forward button was on the movie. My opinion of the Kareena Kapoor changed completely. You have to see it to believe it. She is sexy! It's a 3 hour film. But it holds ones attention very well. SRK is a great villain as usual. Although they hint several times in the movie what the out come will be, until you reach the end it's not fully disclosed. There's one scene that is similar to a James Bond scene. The only thing is that the bad guy isn't Jaws and he doesn't land on a circus tent. It really is fun to watch on the big screen. Don't miss it. - And for those who have seen the first DON, SRK and Big B are different artists. They do things differently.

to tell the unsaid side of life
16 September 2006
This was a great movie. I am always amazed at Karan's work. He's brilliant! I feel bad for those who didn't make it to the theater and see it on the big screen.

It's about two people from different families who are trying to fix their marriages and end up filling their need in each other.

The characters are well placed. SRK is the best when it comes to unique individuals. His style shines(DARR,DDLJ,etc) with Dev. Rani did a good job at being the stiff school teacher who needed to be ignited into love instead of being pushed by her zealous husband. The ones who were spouses did a good job also. It's not easy portraying exactly what one would do in a situation like that.

I really liked it because it dealt with the issues that so many fairytale movies sidestep. We are in a hush hush society that has a hard time dealing with it's problems. KANK addresses a few of the many out there. The biggest thing about it is that many of us have been in this movie's situation in one way or another. It is important to keep open minded.

It is a long movie. A very heavy theme. Food for thought.

interesting

I had to laugh when I saw this in the adult section of a movie catalog. It is definitely an older movie. The soundtrack isn't very good, and can be rather slow, but that's not the selling point. There are two bed scenes with Shahrukh Khan in them. KANK is the only other movie that has a bed scene in it. Maya is about tormented soul who can't seem to say no to the men who enter her life and will give her the attention she craves for their own benefits in return. Shahrukh Khan's character is the most interesting in the movie. He's very young in the film, and his youthfulness shows. He makes the film what it is. Without his character, the film wouldn't be anything. It's worth watching once. He's very creative in an uncreative set. My favorite scene is when his character is playing with Maya in the wet snow. He makes the unbelievable believable.

One of the greatest adventures
15 July 2006
When you look at the picture on the front, it's not too impressive. Okay, it's a guy and a girl- and he's got that strange hat on. Push play anyway. It's this great story about this rich dude who doesn't have a care in the world, who meets this sheltered girl and wow things happen. He's the very guy she's dreamed about. But there's a catch- dreams don't prepare you for the reality of dealing with your dream boy. Especially one such as she ends up with. And she's not the usual bride from a fairytale where they go to Lasvagas to get married either. Her dad had her promised to someone else before she could walk, never mind think/speak for herself. Will she brake the rules and allow her dream to come true? Will her dream boy have the smarts to win her heart and grit to survive the storm and bring her home? An award winning performance worth watching.

Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003)

One of the great films
15 July 2006
I will never forget the first time I saw Kal Ho Naa Ho. It is a must. I never thought a character could get so deep under my skin. The perfect dude is dying, and to make matters worse, for the first time in his life he found a woman worth living for. To add the icing on the cake, he decided to give his love away to his best friend while attempting to have no strings attached... I never liked sappy films, and this is far from sappy. Tell me that your face is completely dry after it's all done. You have to see it to believe it. It's that good. You too will be sold that Shahrukh Khan is one of the great Khans to be reckoned with, if not the best.

great for those of military training
15 July 2006
Even with no voice overs, this is a great series. I purchased the collection, and was very pleased. It may be geared for commandos, but as a US Marine Veteran, I understood and was able to wade through the military jargon pretty easy. In Many ways I was Shahrukh Khan's character, always being punished for having a good time. It shows that those who enjoy what they do can make good leaders, even with others disapproval. And without the girlfriend thing, it wouldn't be a military reality. The way it's taped, you might think it seems like an old movie, but try to look beyond and see what the film is trying to present. It's a little taste of being a commando.

great movie

Shahrukh Khan is always out to surprise. I personally enjoyed this one, because it supported the thought that one should not blindly follow what their parents want for them, and that it's OK to be original. Sure he a little overacted with the headaches, but how does one exactly portray a severe headache? It also adds to the comedy aspect. Shahrukh Khan is a wonderful dancer (although he denies it), and it shows in this one almost as good as it did in DDLJ. Another aspect it has is the different sports(activities) that the female lead character is put on par with SRK's character, if not better, because she knows what she wants to do when she's finished college. And her idea's original(not what daddy says). This is a real reality in our world today. It's not as funny as DDLJ or serious as Kal Ho Naa Ho. But the artist did a great job(SRK) for the part given.
