Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Weak script. Thin story. Lacking substance.
I went to the danger zone of boredom. Some good actors and solid production can't make up for a script that should have been thrown away or at the very least, rewritten. What a waste. I walked out of the cinema after an hour and a quarter. A waste of$70 and time.
Wander (2020)
Brilliant thriller for those with firing synapses
I'm so glad I didn't pay heed to the other reviews which said this movie made no sense. The scenes were well crafted and the movie moved with an undeniable tension, creating this uncomfortable balance between not knowing what is happening, and knowing that something is most definitely happening but you're not sure what.
I loved it. Best movie I've seen in a while. One of Aaron Eckharts best performances yet..
Monster Hunter (2020)
A move needs a story
With all the script writers out there, why not grab one and create a decent story? The lack of story just let's all the other stuff down.
Once you learn that the director did all the resident evil movies, you will realise that he's now so full of himself that he thinks anything he produces will be gold. He's wrong.
Rambo: Last Blood (2019)
One of the worst I've ever seen
There is nothing redeeming about this movie. I thought I'd try it because it's rating was over 6, but Holy moly, it's just terrible. One of the worst scripts I've come across and nothing good comes from that. Rather die an hour and a half early than watch this.
Army of the Dead (2021)
You're not missing anything of you don't see it
I think Zack Snyder was quite self indulgent in this movie, stretching out scenes for his own satisfaction as oppressed to adding value to the movie.
Bottom line is that the movie fails to impart a sense of wonder that would make me recommend it at all. It's bubblegum.
The War with Grandpa (2020)
Contrived and painful to watch
A reasonably good cast obliterated by a thin script and terrible directing. This is one of the most disappointing movies I've seen. Don't waste your money on this rubbish.
Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga (2020)
Expensive playground at your expense
It's not good. It's not even silly. It's just terrible all the way through. I can see this as being funny when writing and when acting it out, but as a movie it is terribly, awfully, annoyingly bad.
Hunter Killer (2018)
Unfortunate, really disappointing
I was really looking forward to this but a bad script and bad direction make a poor foundation that cannot be saved by a good cast.
Aloha (2015)
Ignore the bad reviews
I really enjoyed this fresh take on the old romcom. The story was unexpected and I enjoyed the multiple layers and story lines
Skybound (2017)
So horrifically bad is funny at times
I cannot believe all the 10 star ratings. It is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The script is shocking. The acting is even worse. The directing must have been done by an 8 year old.
The 15:17 to Paris (2018)
A mountain out of a molehill
It's shocking to see this come from Clint Eastwood. A terrorist attack on a train which lasted a few minutes couldn't sustain an actual full-length movie, so they delve back into the lives of the 3 heroes from when they first met and then their stint in the military.
Using the actual real-life people to play themselves is a terrible choice.
For me this movie is simply not watchable.
The Lucky Man (2017)
B-movie at best, overun with fake ratings to elevate it
Don't bother with this religious piece of trash. If you make it all the way to the end of the movie then you're probably both blind and deaf. The special effects are extremely far from being anything special.
The story is thin, the acting is terrible, and the camera work and directing is reminiscent of a high-schooler's first attempt at movie making.
