Violet Evergarden (2018)
Easily the greatest anime I've ever seen
While I personally feel more of a connection to Neon Genesis Evangelion, this is easily the better anime in terms of its audiovisual aspects. It's a show that knows when to get sad or when to lighten the tone and maybe slide in a joke or two. It's a tonal balancing act that really shouldn't work yet it does. Violet's character arc from robotic and socially inept to caring and genial is so heartwarming. If you do end up watching this, I'd recommend having a box of tissues nearby.
MASTERPIECE
Green Book (2018)
Not to be biased...
Roma should've won. Not as awful as I expected but definitely nowhere being a good film.

Caddyshack (1980)
An immature mess of a film
Went into this knowing nothing except that Bill Murray was in it and I've never been this disappointed in my life. The story is nonexistent, and the Google synopsis is the last 30 minutes! The only things I liked were Bill Murray and that cool golf bag with the TV in it. Everything else gets a no from me.

Shinseiki Evangelion (1995)
A staggering achievement for anime
Neon Genesis Evangelion has been mentioned in the same sentence as 2001: A Space Odyssey many times, which is my favorite film of all time. So as soon as it was on Netflix I put it on and binged the entire series and I have no words. It morphs from a mecha anime to a psychological horror to downright euphoria. The final two episodes are polarizing for viewers, and I'm on the positive side. What was initially just a quick ending to the series because of financial issues is now the most mind-boggling, psychologically damaging conclusion to any show I've ever seen. A masterpiece of a show, for sure.
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
Probably my favorite movie of all time!
This movie has been my favorite sci-fi movie from the moment I first watched it! I gave it a 9 mainly because the performances could've been better. Sure, they're the less important thing about the film. Sure, there's not a lot of them. But they still could be a bit better. But the themes and effects overshadow them, making this the quintessential movie for all movie lovers (and not the ones who gave this masterpiece 1 star saying that it was mindless and meaningless; the REAL movie lovers out there)
Koe no katachi (2016)
One of the best animated films I've ever seen
A Silent Voice is terrific, heartbreaking, heartwarming, humorous, vibrant; hell, I could make a review just out of adjectives describing this movie. It's a film that has many small nitpicks, but Naoko Yamada set out to tell a story. And tell it she did. What really stood out to me on this viewing is how the usage of the visuals in a way replicated the story and signifies moments of importance. The appearance of the foggy, growing light in Shoya's mind, or the red fish that Shoko always feeds on Tuesdays, or the fireworks, linking Shoya and Shoko's attempts at suicide.
The roller coaster sequence this time around really stood out. It works for so many reasons. It exhibits every character, their personalities, their reactions to the ride. Sahara is carefree, but reveals that she wasn't always that way. Shoya is scared but trying to hide it. Sueno is trying to look cool, simply staring off into the distance and looking bored. Yuzuru is protective of her sister and is concerned only about her, and Shoko is terrified, stiff as a board. But the fireworks scene still is my favorite. Sorry.
