Van der Valk: Blood in Amsterdam (2022)
Staggers from dull to turgid
There is so much wrong with this series.
1 Each episode is too long & feels twice as long as it actually is.
2 Marc Warren is absolutely awful. I don't dislike him as an actor particularly but he's extremely badly miscast in this.
3 The mix of accents is infuriating. Make it in Dutch & subtitle it or use British actors. Having the police speaking English accented English while virtually everyone else is speaking foreign accented English is just tedious.
4 The story lines are so busy trying to be clever but they just end up boring.
5 The best thing about it is the dog.
6 Amsterdam is a nice place, an hour & a half spent on a televised slow barge journey round the canals would be an hour & a half far better spent.
NCIS: New Orleans: Bad Moon Rising (2020)
Still with the dreams...
I swear if Dwayne wakes up & discovers that he only dreamt that Christopher died then this trash should move to the comedy channel. Cliched nonsense.
Hawaii Five-0: Ka 'i'o (2019)
Ever more ludicrous
This programme staggers from one ridiculous scenario to another, each series worse than the one before & taking in every cliche on the way but it has reached new heights of ludicrousness with Danny's haircut. WTAF?
His Dark Materials (2019)
Tremendous tv
This was excellent, the whole thing was fabulous but special effects are especially outstanding & if they ever remake 101 Dalmatians then Ruth Wilson must be a shoe-in!
NCIS: New Orleans: Pound of Flesh (2018)
From bad to worse
This has always been the worst of NCIS spin-offs but it is sinking to new depths of ludicrousness.
This total nonsense of Pride's flashbacks/visions/hallucinations is pushing credibility too far. No employer would allow someone back to work within weeks of being shot without a full psychological evaluation which he would fail, quite apart from the fact that someone of his age suffering such an injury would have been medically retired whether he wanted to go or not.
I quite often don't last a whole episode as there's a limit to my tolerance of LaSalle's ridiculous accent but this totally daft dream sequence/vision story line needs wrapped up or I will stop watching altogether.
NCIS: Los Angeles (2009)
OK but ...
Eight seasons in and the background music is still far too loud.
Also it would be really nice if the wardrobe department could spring for some new clothes for Sam, he's been wearing the same unflattering tshirts for nearly a decade!
