Away (2020)
Great show - bad Netflix!
What dumb thing to do - cancel a great show like Away! I didn't watch it at first because the episode descriptions were one problem after another - and I didn't want to watch problems. But I finally took a look and got hooked right away. The characters were excellent, writing was excellent, effects were excellent - whole show felt real.
They really should have given it more time, so more people could discover it. They should have brought up the character relationships instead of "this goes wrong" and "that goes wrong". The show was more about people learning to work together, trust each other, and eventually love each other. The ending was perfect - just think what 2 more seasons could have done!
This show is what Another Life should have been.
Sister Boniface Mysteries (2022)
Love it!
I love this style of mystery - the light-heartedness plus solved plots without cliff-hangers. I enjoy the character of Sister Boniface - brilliant and innocent! Because of this show I started watching Father Brown, too, but I like this one better. And most of the episodes so far are not completely predictable, so that's also a plus!
Audrey (2020)
Too much "not-Audrey" stuff
We really didn't need the dramatization of the dancers. Not sure what the point of all that was. It would have been much better without that. She was a remarkable, beautiful person and the world was made better by her being in it.
The Rookie (2018)
Glad I stuck with it
I almost stopped watching after the first few episodes, but caught up on my recordings and I'm glad I did. This show had a rough start but has really caught its stride. Fun and interesting. Nathan Fillion doesn't take himself too seriously, and is able to make all of his characters likable. All the other characters in the show feel full, not just cardboard cutouts. Great show!
Expedition Happiness (2017)
Go along for the journey
I loved this film. The scenery was amazing. I enjoyed the filming, and yes, there were a lot of shots of Selima, but she's beautiful and he's in love, so I can understand why. I don't care that it wasn't super-professional - I think I liked it better because it wasn't. And for me, the music was enough reason to watch the film. I've seen reviews elsewhere with folks complaining about no plot, not liking the couple, etc. Folks, just sit back and enjoy a sweet couple's trip through some absolutely beautiful places, with a lovely soundtrack. If you're going to nit-pick technical details, find something else to watch.
