Where There Is Darkness (2019)
So proud of this film!
This story is beautifully filmed. Where There Is Darkness tells the heartbreaking story of Fr. Rene Robert who sincerely thought he was helping a recently released convict who was taking advantage of him. Fr. Rene's request that the death penalty never be used on anyone who might kill him brings mercy to the man he was trying to help as well as to that man's family and his own family and friends. See this to watch the drama unfold in finding out exactly what happened to Fr. Rene, the background of his killer Steven Murray, and the efforts made to have Fr. Rene's wishes fulfilled. I highly recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys crime drama as those who enjoy movies that give a deeper understanding to the human condition. So thankful that the filmmakers discovered Fr. Rene's story and published it in move form so that we could all learn about him.
Cats (2019)
Much better than I expected
I wasn't planning to see CATS today, but the theater I went to played CATS instead of the movie I played to see. I did not see a Broadway production of CATS, but I have seen it performed live in my area and did not care for it at all. Today I was pleasantly surprised. I loved the characters of Mr. Mistoffelees and Victoria. I thought Rebel Wilson's cat was very well done. For the first time ever I got the sense that there was a story, and I was able to follow it. I'm glad I saw it and hope lots of cat lovers get out to see it.
Connect (2018)
Good conversation starter
Raising kids in a digital world is not for sissies. Parents need all of the information and encouragement that they can get. Kirk Cameron does a good job of covering a number of aspects of parental concerns related to the digital access including predators, brain development, pornography, as well as family and interpersonal relationships. The movie does not cover any specific apps that might be problematic or any parental monitoring though it does promote Circle with Disney at the end. For Christian parents Connect points out the importance of a child's heart as well as the imprudence of controlling a child to the point that they are not allowed to make mistakes. I look forward to seeing the movie with my son and hearing what he thinks. It will give us a good starting point for many discussions to come.
