Secret Witness (1988)
The Leaf Years
This was a fantastic made for tv movie that is hard to find. The early career of Leaf Phoenix was pockmarked throughout the 80s with genre heavy cult kid 80s adventure movies like Space Camp and Russkies. What I like to call the 80s kids on bikes subgenre that shows like Stranger Things are capitalizing on. Movies like goonies, the Explorers, frog dreaming and ET. This movie is a great murder mystery, filled w that 80s adventure set on a exotic Summer vacation island. This movie is Heavy with what a phrase that i like to call Retro-Patina. Filled with a great supporting cast, funny humor and well directed. Definitely worth a watch if retro stuff is your jam.
Masters of the Universe: Revelation (2021)
Does not deserve the hate
This show does not deserve the hate it is getting imo. First I will say, like everyone else I was misled by the marketing. That was a mistake. The preview looked like they were rebooting the 80s He Man. And in a way, they did. Now, growing up I loved the 80s He Man, had the figures etc. I didn't watch any other iteration of he man since then, the 90s reboot or whatever, so I'm not sure which story line they're following etc. So yes, in the first episode, they kill off he-man and skeletor more or less. Although you know they're just in some other dimension, so they're not dead- dead ffs. And they come in and out in different ways throughout so theyre not completely absent. Now people are super pissed it seems that they went and gave Teela all the main story line, but I thought the writing was fantastic. Btw, teela has always been another protagonist. I never felt they were jamming woke bs down my throat. I mean it's called Revelations and the Masters of the universe, which btw it is just the retelling of revelations from the bible so you should know what the story is going to be about. Not He-man and TMOFU. But like I said, the marketing was misleading on that. They should've advertised it as a continuation of that universe or something. But it gives you all the needed nostalgia feels as old beloved characters come in and out and then you remember the figure you had that you haven't thought about in years. You can't have a one dimensional character like he-man carry the full arc of the story. You'd need prince Adam for that and he's boring. All the characters make appropriate sacrifices that matter. Plus it's a cartoon so next season you know they will all be back or whatever. Give it a chance. It's well done. Kevin smith did a great job. A fun adventure story for adults and kids.
The Irishman (2019)
Yes, it IS perfect!!!
The movie is flawless. An absolute masterpiece that comes to be expected by Scorsese, Deniro, Pesci etc. For the reviews that give it less than a 10. If you find fault in this movie or plot then go make a better film yourself since you know what perfection is then. Absolutely mind boggling how anyone can say this film was just ok or it could've been better. I bet they would go the Sistine Chapel and let down.

San wa (2005)
violent and full of action
It has been said that Jackie Chan hasn't been satisfied w/ the result of his American Movies i.e Rush Hour/RH2, so he has decided to mainly make Hong-Kong films. Chan should only make HK films from now on, as far as I'm concerned. Myth is chalk-full of classic Jackie Chan action, w/ amazing stunts and Violence! Chan plays a General in the Qin army and doesn't take crap from anyone. The story line is interesting and keeps you guessing on what is reality and what is fantasy or myth. This is the first film that I have seen from Chan that is this violent, Comparable to Musa w/ a lot more action. The dream sequences work well and serve the story line. Also Stanley Tong, who test's all of the stunts himself before any of his actors, does a superb job on all of the action, along w/ a fun story line. Go get The Myth if you like Hong-Kong films as well as classic Jackie mixed w/ new Jackie Chan.
