Clerks II (2006)
Kevin Smith is the REAL boss of NJ
The week of the movie coming out, I heard a rumor that one of those movie critics ( you know the guys who get payed to tell you what you should see and shouldn't see, and have no idea what the public actually wants to see ) actually walked out of this movie. Now I'm not going to lie, I did have some reservation of this movie coming out, only because the first one was such a great "cult" flick, but I was still very excited to see it, I mean come on its a new Kevin Smith Flick. ( the real boss of NJ ) But once I heard about the critic walking out I knew this movie was going to be awesome and probably one of his best yet. And man was it. Few movies actually make me laugh out loud ( and yes I spelled it out ) and this movie had me laughing the whole time. I'm still in awe on how they were able to get away with certain things, and for those who saw the movie, you know exactly what I am talking about. ( I'm taking it back ) It was great that they didn't use their "catch phrases" every other line, but just enough in key situations to make it even funnier. The one thing that kind of bothered me, was a lot of people in the theater that I went too were saying there should of been more with Jay and Silent Bob. But I hate to break it to them, and everyone else who agrees with that past statement. The movie was not about them. It was about the Clerks, Dante and Randal and how they are going through their lives. Remember the first movie?? They made appearances every once and awhile outside and did some funny stuff outside. And I don't think having them in every scene of the new clerks movie would of worked at all. But hey, that is my opinion and I could be wrong. Anyone else notice that kid who got a nickel bag off Jay was the same kid from Strikes Back?!? And much like Jay's hoody at the end, this movie did give Justice to the original Clerks.
X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)
Storyline?
Saw the movie last night, and I left feeling a little on the down side. Anyone who has seen the movie, read the spoilers, or has a loud mouth friend who has seen it, can tell you that 3 main characters died. I stayed until i saw the credits, but I hear that there was a different ending?? None the less, where was nightcrawler? Anyone..Anyone..? Kind of odd, and i know they do that in a lot of movies, but in X2 wasn't he considered a "main character." Seemed like they rushed through to the fight scenes, and trust me I love the fight scenes, but if I'm gonna pay almost $9 bucks, give me some substance. So, if you plan on seeing it, don't expect to see anything like the first two, go with a more open mind, and expect to see some of the characters die?!?
Stella (2005)
stellllaaaa
I had the privilege of seeing the live performance of these guys at my college and I laughed until I couldn't anymore, my sides hurt too much. I'm serious, they hurt. The show however..i didn't laugh as much, still the show was great. It seemed like most people who saw it didn't get it. I'm not sure if I even totally got it, but i do like those guys, all the way back from the state, and red hot American summer, classics in my eyes. I did enjoy the recurring jokes that popped up, its always nice to see that, or hear that? whatever..you get it. Hopefully it will come back on, they did give a nice push. This show and Reno i strongly believe had a nice cult following, and still do. If you can get your hands on the DVDs from Stella's live performances i suggest you buy them. Thats it for now.
The Office (2005)
up dog?
I love this show. Its on my top five..scratch that, top three shows of all time. I have a very dry sense of humor..maybe you can pick up on that from my other comments i left on this site? Don't Know. Anyways, this is one of the shows, that you love to watch, because the more you pay attention the more jokes you get. Maybe its as simple as a facial expression or a real quick one liner, but they are in there, and are funny as hell. A lot of people who do watch the show for some reason almost hate Michael, because they could never work for him. I WISH i could work there. How great would that be? As long as no one takes a poop on my part of the rug. The acting is great..or should i say improvising? They all play off each other perfectly. They just seem to feed off each others jokes and just counter each other, much like real friends do. Not those fake friends living in a huge apartment in the middle of the city. Buy the merchandise, buy the dvds, the shirts, the itunes episodes, show support. Speaking of which, SAVE LOVE MONKEY!! yell at cbs. Chances are if you love this show you will love, LOVE MONKEY, its the office, but about music. thats it for now..carry on with your job....be productive, or just sit there and keep reading this.
Saw II (2005)
OH yes...there was blood
holy god that was a good movie. What a ride, what a ride. This was a horror flick. It seems rare to have a horror flick have a great sequel, but they did an awesome job. How twisted of a mind do you have to have in order to write this and think this stuff up. I want to throw a girl into a pool of needles and one has the cure. F'n sweet man. I will admit i was scared to see "The new kid" in this movie, but he did a good job. I was looking for the famous saw twist, and then WAM! There is was! My jaw dropped as i started to realize what was going on. I wont give it away if you haven't seen it, but if you haven't then your stupid. GO SEE IT...RENT IT! (your not stupid..just slow, its OK) Was it just me or did anyone catch the Shining reference? Guy going crazy in a house..killing people..was that just me?
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)
Not dark enough?
I am a HUGE fan of Tim Burton, BUT I have to say this movie was, well not up to the Burton par. Yes, the boat sequence was pretty cool. Yes, his crazy shaped trees were cool as hell. Yes, it had some "dark" moments. But those dark moments seemed few and far between. I do believe that Tim Burton was perfect to remake this movie, but it could of, and should of been much darker. Maybe the outside world that Charlie lives in is a dark world, but the Chocolate factory could of been so creepy and dark, really play off the color of the chocolate and make it all melty inside-an acid trip gone bad! Maybe even have the cold feel that you got when you saw Vincent Price in the lab in Edward Scissorhands?!?!? Who knows. But I did see it in the movies and I wasn't happy. Too much pressure? Too big of a high hope? Maybe we can use this as a mulligan for Tim Burton, like OK, we won't really count this one? idk..just a thought. I like Johnny Depp movies, fear and loathing..come on! But the way he looked and acted in this one, kind of sucked. It would of been something to see his hair all f'd up like in Edward, and not have those STUPID sunglasses on. Overall the movie could of been so much better. The flash back scenes seemed to be the darkest in the whole movie. Maybe that's the way they wanted it...he had a bad childhood. Let's make his adulthood even darker?!?! just a thought.
Batman Begins (2005)
Ever dance with the devil in a pale moon light?
Now this was a superhero movie. From the opening to the end of the movie it was fantastic. THis is a fan boys wet dream, especially if you like katie holmes..i personally don't, but i try to remember that part of that one movie where she was topless..yeah..thats good stuff. Anyways, Bale did an awesome job, and is the second best batman next to of course Michael Keaton. I am excited that they are doing a sequel..perhaps redo the whole batman line up in this new way? Maybe Mr. Freeze won't be a giant body builder, and Gotham city won't be all "raved" out?!? That would be nice. I must of watched this movie over and over and over and every time i watch it, it gets better. Did you notice little barbara gordan in the house? I love the fact that this movie was as "dark" as it was, because thats the only way to do it. Maybe that's one of the reasons the first two batman movies were so damn good, and did so damn well. The King of Comics to Movies, the Batman is back on top.
How I Met Your Mother (2005)
here to stay!?!
I think this show and Love Monkey are perhaps two of the best shows on CBS. Wait scratch that..I think this show is one of the best shows on CBS, since they canceled Love Monkey...if that didn't come out bitter, then i should of tried harder..but you know now, so go back and read it again. OK..ready? Seriously a great show that has a lot of potential in growing. The only person that bothers me in the show is "Doogey." Is he trying to be a twin of Niles? I think the show could be that much better if he suddenly went out of town for a season, or Africa. ( That 70's show reference ) Still the show is funny, and it makes you think of your friends and your life a lot. The characters seem real, and seem like people who you would hang out with. The way it is going I;m real curious on, well, How he meet your mother. I really do hope they don't suddenly cancel this show, cuz i want to see how this all plays out.

Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place (1998)
mmmm......pizza
Perhaps one of the best shows, dare i say ever? OK..EVER. Some could argue that, but if you went to this link, and are reading this you can probably agree. Two Guys and A girl and a pizza place was one of those rare shows that was simply awesome. THe one liners were great, whether it was pete, berg or sharron, and later on ashely and johnny, and hell even irene had a few good ones in there. It was great to follow these characters all the way to the end, no matter what channel, or time. I do however wish that it didn't end the way it did, but hey i guess someone in the network forgot how to have sense of humor. Why haven't these come out on DVD? Who knows..maybe someday. BUT i did find an amazing link in someones comments, so search around.
Undeclared (2001)
Bye this DVD..its well worth any money
You know how you buy a cd and you just keep playing it over and over? It almost makes you feel kind of good and happy? You do..great! That's how you are going to feel when you finally buy this DVD. Strangely enough I only caught it once or twice when it aired, but once i found out it was on DVD, i think i have watched at least once or twice a day. The show is so damn real, and funny..you could say its "real funny." Ever been to a college, or a college party or know some one that went to college? Yes you say..then good, because you can totally relate on at least 3 levels..i promise. Find this DVD..go to the official website..love it..and laugh. This once again shows how a network kills a great show.
Let the record state that Judd Apatow is the man.
Love Monkey (2006)
complaining or just contemplating?
Why is it that a network will get rid of shows that seem to actually be funny, and can actually grow? DO they rather keep shows on like..idk crap reality that isn't even close to real reality? Flaver Flav? Surreal Life? Real World/Road Rules etc etc etc. People generally watch TV series because 1. They like the characters 2. They like the way its written 3. Like the music in the series 4. Like where and how its filmed. Love Monkey had all these and then some. What a great concept...yeah CONCEPT, a 30 something in the music business, goes indie follows indie bands, has a rough time with women, has good friends....wait..thats not real enough. Because no one in really life has good buddies, or women problems or between jobs. We all compete for money and prizes and have lines of women to pick from.(man i wish..just imagine that..prizes.) Instead lets cancel a very promising show, and air NCIS, because lord knows we don't have enough shows of a team investigating something. (I believe that there is at least 8 shows on cbs, if not more.) Just watch reruns of scooby doo, at least that is more entertaining. This show was being compared to, or at least i heard it was being compared to sex in the city. BUT they didn't cancel sex in the city after 3 or 4 episodes, granted it was on HBO. Getting back to the matter at hand, why must a network get rid of a show before it can actually grow? Networks in the past have given shows multiple chances at different time slots and, or different days. How come they didn't with Love MOnkey? Tuesday at 10pm..now there is a great time slot. Beginning of the week..at 10 at night...for a brand new show. Lets try that again...Brand new show, 10 at night, on a Tuesday. Head still hurt on that one? Did you ever see any advertising for the show? I live by the city and the only advertising I have seen for it is on the front of two buses. WHOA..thats hardcore..oh wait, I guess they are trying to push the CSI franchise..or the seinfeld spin off (note..i loved seinfeld..not spin offs, and lets face it..all shows with those characters in it or some how spin offs) After all this..all I ask is that you SAVE THE MONKEY. GO to cbs.com, scroll all the way down to feedback. And what's funny is that under prime time, Love Monkey isn't even listed so choose other and write away. thanks for reading. should i keep going?
**Don't let Love Monkey have the same fate as Two Guys a Girl and a Pizza Place, or Undeclared, or Freaks and Geeks, or well lets face it, there are a lot of other shows.**
