Bates Motel (2013–2017)

Psycho-Bates Motel--😱
11 June 2015
I'm traveling the states. I'm in Austin, TX. I have loved it for the first episode. I don't watch TV. The only series I watch is Bates Motel. It is such a great show. There are a couple stand-outs: Keegan Connor Tracy(Final Destination 2), Nestor Carbonell(Dark Knight).Freddie Highmore is a good actor, but he is a teenager and I'm sure any actor will have worked. Vera Farmiga is really good. She knows what she's doing, definitely. In one scene she will be laughing- having fun, next she is trying to use a gun. 'm watching Bates Motel season 3, the last episode. I hope there will be the 4th season. It has to be more...it should just end when she dies. I'm sure that won't happen though!

Migrate to this film.

I love ensemble dramas. Especially when they have the whole "stranger's lives intertwined" thing going on. However, as much as I enjoyed this film, it is not for everyone.

It is slow and heavy, but I can't find much wrong with it. There were a couple of scenes that were poorly developed or written, maybe. All in all, if you're like me, and you like superbly acted and directed films you will enjoy this.

I won't give too much away because I know many have not had the chance to see this yet; it is a simple story of how random lives are affected and forever changed by a pointless and tragic event.

What I liked is how each individual was affected differently. Each character acted and reacted in a different way, and it is watching these behaviors play out that make up the film.

I felt Kate Beckinsale stood out the most in a subtle role. She is going to win an Oscar someday. Of course Forest Whitaker and Dakota Fanning were good, which at this point goes without saying. (Maybe I should erase that last sentence then.) Jush Hutcherson and Jackie Earl Haley, as father and son also stood out. Troy Garity, as the county mental health worker was my favorite though. Again, a subtle performance and the one character I keep thinking about afterward.

This film won't win awards or break any new ground but I like it. It's a small movie about human behavior and getting through tough times and coming out the other end of the tunnel, with a bit of light breaking through.

Lovely Film!

What a brilliant film. From the art direction, to the writing and directing this was almost flawless. The acting was above-par, and somehow, the best child actress to come along in decades, Dakota Fanning, has been upstaged by her little sister, Elle. I had an awful day, full of suburban bigots and homophobes and was starting to feed into it. I randomly watched this movie and found solace in a nine year old boy overcoming the same stuff I dealt with today. Maybe that sounds pathetic, but it was the quiet reminder I needed today. Thanks to the filmmakers, not only was I thoroughly entertained, you brightened my evening.

Inland Empire (2006)

Awesome

I am not sure who posted this last comment of the film about it being bad and Laura Dern being a bad actress, but they are dead wrong. This movie was anything but bad. I am a fan of early Lynch film too, and I felt that this was more like his early shorts than anything I have seen recently. It is different and hard to understand, but that us what we have come to expect and appreciate about a Lynch film. If you are reading this, do go see "Imland Empire" when it is released. Laura Dern is absolutely amazing and Mary Steenburgen is great for her blink and you'll miss is part. There are some nice surprises. "Evrybody's doing a brand new dance now..."

I saw an advanced screening a couple months ago and I loved it. Its cool that the movie has guts and is willing to take a stab at everyone- from Carrie Underwood to Bush. Go see it!! I thought the acting was great. It was nice to see Chris Klein back and Willem Dafoe was a chameleon as usual. Jennifer Coolidge was toned down from what she normally does but it was good. The only thing I was not so happy with was the music. I figured that because of the whole "American Dreamz" backdrop they would do something fun with that. Having Mandy Moore as well, I figured the would utilizes that, but the music sucked. She was good though, I love when she plays a bitch rather than a sweet girl next door.
