The Squid and the Whale (2005)
Detail inaccuracies in the movie
As one who played tennis in 1986, one thing I wanted to point out was the historical inaccuracy of the tennis equipment. NOBOCDY was using wood rackets in 1986. You didn't need to hire a tennis consultant to figure that out. I wonder if Baumbach used the outdated equipment to suggest the story didn't take place in the present? Also, as anyone who every taught tennis knows (As I do), a feeder never, ever drops the ball on the ground to feed a student but rather, hits the ball out of one's hands to the waiting student. That didn't take place in the lesson scenes between Baldwin and Kline. Oh well, I wish Baumbach would've asked me BEFORE filming! At any rate, everything else seemed accurate (yes, I realize the budget was relatively low, but nevertheless). I liked the film despite it being sort of one-dimensional.
