Terrible Show
19 July 2021
The only relatable character in this show is Daddario, I couldn't care less what happens to anyone else. You have the bratty highschoolers, the mom who supports Hillary Clinton, the dad who worries way too much, the spoiled husband, the weird manager and the list goes on.

The other problem with this show is that the plot doesn't move forward. At the beginning we see that someone was murdered at the resort which brings up a whole bunch of questions and leads into what should be a great first episode. Instead, you have people sitting around and talking for the entire time. Maybe the show will progress in later episodes but it's obvious they are trying to milk the plot which is funny since this is a miniseries.

Also you are greeted by some old dude's hairy balls in this episode as well.

Overall, a pretty boring and unrelatable show. I will not be watching further.

Nothing Happens
27 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is okay, has some good action scenes and some funny parts.

The main problem with this movie is that it doesn't go anywhere. Santa doesn't get killed which would have been interesting, the assassin doesn't succeed, the money problem is left as a loose-end, the kid doesn't develop into anything and in the end we are left more or less where we started. I also find it unfair that Santa can literally grow back his brain after getting shot through the head.

Overall, 4/10 for the premise, the comedy and action but could have been a lot better.

Warning: Spoilers
This movie was close to being good but ended up falling short. First off, the movie had exceptional cinematography, acting and an interesting premise. That was the good. Unfortunately, there was a lot of bad in this movie as well. The whole premise that language can suddenly make you see the future, was both underutilized and makes no sense. I don't care what language you speak, there is no way possible you can use a language to help you see in the future, because it literally hasn't happened yet. I understand the language hypothesis, but I still don't buy it. The future thing was also underutilized. Amy Adams could only see up to her child dying. Could she see beyond her death, up to her death? What about 3000 years later, could she see what was going to happen?

My other problem, aside from the plothole, was the fact that the movie didn't know what it wanted to be. Is this movie an Alien take over movie which is about human civilization or is it a deep movie about family and living life? In the end, I had no idea because the movie was so all over the place. At one point civilization has come together and she is explaining the Alien language and at the other Renner is whispering 'let's make a baby' into her ear and their playing with their kid. What is the message in this movie? If it is that Aliens can bring us together, why include the child part and if it is to live our life the same even if we know the future why include the alien part?

I didn't find the movie boring as some others have suggested and I thought it kept things interesting even if it was simple at times. Also, I saw the Jeremy Renner being her husband coming from a mile away (around when it was revealed she hadn't already had the child).

For the major plothole and the mixed theme I give this movie a 6/10

A typical crime movie
8 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is the typical crime movie: bad guy who thinks he's cool and life is going well gets on a path of crime where he makes mistakes and goes down a rabbit hole of more crime until he ends up losing in the end. The acting is good and the story is thrilling but at no point did it stand out above other crime movies. 7/10

Funny but way too unrealistic

A couple of the characters should be dead, all of them should be in jail for felonies but it was funny.

Excellent Film
29 September 2020
This movie has pretty much everything. It has a thrilling plot. It has a deeper meaning embedded within its storyline that allows for the movie to be discussed after the credits roll. It has excellent acting, Gleeson does perfect as an awkward programmer. It has artsy elements that don't detract from a logical and sound plot. It is very well shot and very pleasing to look at. It is also very unique. I would recommend watching this movie if you enjoy all of the things I have listed above in a movie. The only thing that makes this a 9 instead of a 10 is that I probably won't watch it again and it didn't really move me emotionally, but other than that this was a fantastic movie especially in an era where a lot of movies suck because they are overly political, artsy, etc.

A boring movie that picks up towards the end
18 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The pros of this movie is the good acting from all of the cast, I especially liked Pattinson as the scummy preacher. The downside to this movie is that it is extremely slow especially in the first half. Tom Holland isn't even introduced until 45 minutes in. The movie is extremely boring for the most part but after his "sister" accidently kills herself it starts to pick up and the storylines start to come together. In the end everyone's story comes together in some ways but there are still events that don't really matter scattered throughout the movie. The ending left me with a sense of that was interesting but not really good or great.

Good Movie With Some Problems
3 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I would say this movie is good for a one time watch. You go through the movie trying to figure out what is going on and how things are going to end up and it's a fun experience. The problem is when you go back and look at the plot again and things start to fall apart. I realized that the movie pretty much gives away the ending before it even begins, the love story is pretty cheesy and definitely unnecessary for the movie, there are weird things thrown into the movie like him hearing a voice calling him Bob for example that were unnecessary and the whole part where he starts to believe that he might not be in reality is fine but unnecessary after tackling that concept for the majority of the film.

So, in conclusion, the film isn't a masterpiece by any means, like some might suggest here but it is good for a fun one time watch and pretty enjoyable with some nice twists and an excellent mystery.

P.S. Brad Pitt's performance reminds me of a line by Robert Downey Jr in Tropic Thunder where you can't go fully insane otherwise you won't get an oscar.

Lots of Fun
2 September 2020
The story line is pretty typical for a comedy movie with some silly moments and some cringe scenes, but overall I thought this was a very fun comedy. The jokes land well and Vince Vaughn is excellent especially in the locker room. Overall would definitely recommend if you want a good laugh and a fun watch.

Started off Good, but really is just messaging
29 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This movie started off interesting, a gorilla trying to save his show by painting, but eventually it devolved into blatant messaging. The acting was good by some of the voice actors and not so good by others. Cranston was good (though he really let himself go huh?) and knock off Mark Ruffalo didn't seem to have to good of a grasp on things, letting his kid take money from a failing business and all.

The movie plot starts out interesting, but soon devolves into messaging that animals need to be kept in the wild (or the zoo works too apparently). I wouldn't have minded this messaging in a documentary, and I actually agree with it completely, animals should be allowed to roam around not be in a cage, but in the movie they are able to manipulate things to make us feel far more sympathetic to the character and get away with misrepresenting facts. First off, Ivan is presented with a human voice making him far more relatable, as well as the other animals. So, when the animals experience death or hardship we think of them as humans instead of animals making us sympathize far more with them (once again I agree in animals not being couped up). The other problem is the messaging becomes so blatant, I think they hired PETA to make this movie or something, the entire movie just becomes a lecture on freeing animals.

If you enjoy your movies to have strong political messaging shoved in your face, then this movie is definitely for you. But, if you're like me, and prefer the messaging to be more subtle and an actually interesting story to take the forefront then skip this (this movie is basically gorilla paints and gets free, not much substance other than lecturing us on animals).

Kids will like it. 2/10

Served its purpose
28 August 2020
The plot on this movie was not great with a lot of things that didn't make sense, but obviously that wasn't really the point, the point was a fun comedy movie and for that this served it's purpose and supplied some pretty good laughs. The messaging of getting off your phone is a lot less in your face than I thought it would be which is good. 6/10

Funny at times but the plot and acting drag it down a lot
27 August 2020
This movie had some really funny moments especially from the awkward dad and the dancing kid who were really funny. Other than that, this movie is pretty trash. There are so many plotholes throughout this movie it's almost laughable how little thought was put into it. There are way too many to get into and all are pretty obvious, but my favorite is the fact that Akerman's old friend escaped handcuffs and nobody even mentioned it, it's like they forgot she was in handcuffs before. The acting is poor mostly from the daughter and the sterotypical characters like the bully. There are also a couple of emotional moments that are extremely cringe to watch through. Overall, I would say watch this movie with your kids, they'll probably like it a lot and there are some funny moments but overall the movie is subpar for me. 5/10

Typical Action Movie with A Unique Concept
26 August 2020
This movie follows a typical plot with some holes in it that I won't nitpick on. The concept is very unique, however, and brings the movie up for me. The acting is also solid by Joseph Gordon Levitt and Jamie Foxx, MGK was notbad. The action sequences are pretty good throughout the movie and the pace is very fast (almost too fast at the beginning). Overall I would say good for if you're looking for a fun movie with some good action 7/10

Classic Movie
17 August 2020
The plot of this movie isn't that exciting or action packed but the story comes together in an excellent way with tons of amazing acting and excellent scenes that make it an instant classic along with some amazing dark humor. The only thing that brings this movie down is Quentin Tarantino who looks very out of place and the fact that the pacing was a little bit slow at times. Other than those two criticisms this movie was very good in my opinion.

Pretty bad movie
15 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This review probably will not be popular, due to the massive amounts of positive reviews for this movie. Firstly, the movie assumes that just because your parents aren't smart, you will be dumb. If your parents are dumb you could still be a genius, Einstein's father was a salesperson (since they are so fixated on Einstein as a genius throughout the movie). The second assumption they make is that how smart you are is measured solely by IQ. IQ wasn't even purposed to be a full measure of how smart you are. The funniest part of this movie, was the fact that even though the entire time it preached how everyone was dumb and how smart it was, it used a cliched comedy plot seen a million times before making it a "dumb" film just like all of the other comedies. A lot of people are saying that this movie is a "documentary" because everyone is so dumb these days. Firstly, dumb is a broad term, you might be "dumb" in one area but extremely smart in another area. Secondly, more people are going to college now than ever before. So not only is this movie hypocritical and has bad logic, it is also a terrible satire because it simply isn't true.

My other problem with this film is the hard leftist politics stuffed down the audience's throat. The blasting of fox news, climate change, healthcare, capitalism, guns were all annoying and, to be honest, not very funny (the giant costco was the closest to funny out of the political jabs).

BTW Einstein didn't actually think he was smarter than everyone else, he wasn't, he was just good at theoretical physics. The movie also thinks he invented the atomic bomb which is also not true he invented the equations that would be used in the making of the bomb

The one good thing I will say about the movie is the jokes were pretty good when they weren't political and it got a few laughs out of me. 2/10

Cheesy at times but still a solid movie
14 August 2020
This movie was good. Unique concept, some pretty funny bits, and a heartwarming story line. The things that brought it down for me was some of the political jabs and some of the cheesier moments that made the story a bit unbelievable. 7/10

Pretty good movie with some problems
8 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I love how everybody giving this negative reviews claims to love dark humor but can't take a single offensive joke or swearing. This movie was pretty funny it didn't have me dying of laughter but many of the jokes landed. The story was although containing typical cliches was entertaining and the concept was excellent. The animation was very good as well making this seem like a pixar film for adults.

The reasons this movie isn't rated higher is that a) there are some major plotholes in the movie. For example, the food goes in weird places, for example, the sausage landed on the kitchen windowsill. If food was doing stuff like that in real life people would freak out. The ending also complicated things. The second problem with the movie is the wacky science stephen gum hawking was pretty funny though. The third problem with the movie, and main problem, was the constant social commentary that was unnecessary. This comedy about sausages having sex with buns somehow managed to comment on slavery, lgbtq rights, religious beliefs and the existence of God and the israel-palestine conflict.

Good Movie but far too sappy
7 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed the idea behind this movie and the visuals were really good especially for 1998. The downfall of this movie is the constant sappy scenes thrown into the movie. One or two might be acceptable but half of the movie had to be sappy scenes (his wife crying, him crying, his kids crying, his doctor crying etc. etc.). My other problem with this movie was the plotholes. The plotholes weren't the fact that this was set in heaven but the fantasy world wasn't really fleshed out enough and explored in depth leading to many questions (an example would be why the doctor chose to be a shrink, why his kids didn't just come out and greet him, why his wife started screaming when he got close to her etc.). The plotholes, however, can be pardoned because the point of the movie was to be a romance not a solid scifi or fantasy film.

In summary, the film has plotholes and far too many sappy scenes and the sappy scenes drag down this movie, but the concept is good.

Funny Movie with some plotholes

This was a pretty interesting movie. The suspension was pretty good. The humor was outstanding, especially the meta parts. The plot does have some major flaws but if you're looking for a fun movie I would definitely recommend this one.

Terrible
31 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Terrible pacing, terrible voice acting from the cast with plenty of cringeworthy scenes. None of the "jokes" land at all. The movie has no real plot whatsoever only the message that we are all very similar to each other and assimilate together instead of standing out like Lisa.

Pretty Good Film
30 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This film was pretty good, pretty good story as well as pace. The story is basically a girl and her father gets trapped on some foreign planet, the father dies because he is greedy and then the girl is left to trust the killer to work together and try to get home. The action sequences were good and the general storyline was fun to watch. My criticism for this movie would be the dialogue. The dialogue is very hard to understand at times especially through radios and helmets. My other criticism would be plot holes, for some reason the red dude left to die in the cage escapes but doesn't kill the two of them and the guy who came up to the father and Cee suddenly turns into a nice guy. If the dialogue was more understandable and the minor plotholes were fixed this movie would have probably ranked higher but overall I definitely enjoyed the story.

Meh thriller with far too many plotholes
29 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I've thought about this one for a bit and I've come to the conclusion it's a meh thriller. The main problem with this thriller is it tries to play both sides. Sometimes it seems obvious that he is in the right and sometimes it seems obvious that the hospital is in the right. At the end when it is revealed that the hospital is right, all the times where it seemed he was right don't just dissapear, they are still valid. For example, multiple times in the movie the doctors mention Peri and his wife and interact with them constantly. Just because he is now crazy doesn't mean that every one of the doctors is crazy too (on top of this some of the other doctors, like the psycotherapist is supposedly 100% right, meaning what the doctors say is really happening). Yes, the movie was a thrilling ride and fun to watch, but when you go back over the movie it has to make sense knowing the ending and it doesn't make sense unless you take some huge leaps. A movie like fight club and shutter Island makes complete sense if you know the ending and watch it from the beginning again. That's why for me this is only a meh thriller and not a good or great thriller.

On top of this the acting, especially the wife, is terrible and the child acting isn't great either and there were many scenes that were extremely unrealistic like him pointing the gun at the cops and not getting shot and him getting away with breaking a hospital window, injecting himself with 4 epipens and escaping the hospital grounds after suffering a head injury without the hospital calling the police.

A good message, but not a good movie unfortunately.
28 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Firstly I'll start by commending this movie on what it did well. The message of this movie was very good, don't just live the same boring life and live life to its fullest. The message of the movie, however, does not make up for the story line. The movie starts off as a guy hearing a narrator write a story about him. Later it is revealed that the narrator is living in the same world as the character. This, of course, is impossible because a narrator is an external figure. This also arrises the problem of how Harold was born (he supposedly shouldn't have existed before the narrator thought of him) and many, many other plot concerns and holes. In the end she says she is going to change the story, so would that mean that Harold's past is going to be altered entirely? Normally a couple plotholes here and there doesn't really effect the story as a hole but in this case the plotholes are so enormous it makes the story unbelievable and thus unenjoyable even though the message is nice. The story also starts to really drag along at the end as Harold goes back and forth and we wait for him to die. The movie is also holds itself to a very high regard. The original story is called a "masterpiece" by the genius professor Hilbert who knows amazing literary concepts like the difference between a tragedy and comedy and also reads a lot. Why the original story is such a masterpiece? Nobody knows its basically about a dude who betters his life and then dies, apparently an unkown concept that has never been done before. My final bone to pick would be with Maggie Gyllenhaal's character who is supposed to be some amazing perfect girl. Except she evades her taxes because she doesn't like government spending and chastises Harold for following company policy.

Overall decent message, not a good storyline to back it up.
