Computer Space (1971 Video Game)

How did a 52 year-old game manage to humble me?

This game is a historic relic and has surprisingly smart AI for when AI should not have been a thing. I can even control where my projectile goes.

Computer Space is the first commercially sold video game from 1971 and the first to be used as a prop in a motion picture (Soylent Green from the same year). You fight against two flying saucers who shoot projectiles at you that are shockingly difficult to avoid, and you the player are a rocket ship whose job it is to shoot back. It works like Pong where the number of spaceships successfully shot at get progressively higher and vice versa for the computer opponent.

I'm thankful that everyone has decided to give this abomination 1 star. This will only lead to the spread of misinformation and fear of autism and will make autistic children feel like they are monsters.

Fortnite (2017 Video Game)

Too much praise and hatred

Fortnite is a great game that everyone seems to either loathe or love. It may have taken it's aesthetic and dances (and countless other things) from Team Fortress 2, it's a cross platformer that won't be forgotten anytime soon. Most of the reviews are memers memeing against the flossing machine. I saw one review legitimately say the FitnessGram Pacer Test instead of an actual criticism. That being said, it doesn't deserve GOTY.

TLDR Fortnite is a good game.

Five Nights at Freddy's (2014 Video Game)

Not built to last

When FNAF was in its hayday in 2014, everyone was both scared of its jumpscares and curious to see if there was a deeper lore behind it. It turns out the jumpscares didn't last after a few days playing it and Scott Cawthon was making up the story as he went along, which no one could blame him.

Kids shouldn't watch it

Everything that can go wrong has gone wrong with this show. All the characters are spoiled, bratty, and insulting. They insult people's looks, height, intelligence, and age. This is supposed to be comedic but it's just bullying under a poor guise. Their target audience is watching this and mimicking their behavior. On top of that, all the characters are are just their perceived stereotypes: Ravi is smart yet weak and small, Zuri is a greedy businesswoman focused on herself, the camp director Gladys is a creepy stalker and is also ugly, the list goes on and on. Absolutely no character development at all.

1984 (1984)

Lack of Build-up

I love the fact that the film took place during the time the book did and how they made all the scenes look grim, gritty, and late 1940s ish. My main problem is the lack of development of Winston and Julia. He goes from hating her to making love to her and no in between. He also says he hates all goodness and purity for no reason. And the Room 101 dream scenes were more strange and confusing to anyone who hasn't read the book than the Maze Runner dream scenes. TL;DR: If you haven't read the book, you won't understand the film.
