Interesting viewpoint
11 April 2014
First off I would say you will want to watch this movie more than once for a couple of reasons. Main one for me is in reading the sub-titles etc. I missed out on a lot of the action and byplay of the various actors. Unless you are fluent in Japanese, you have to read to follow the plots, of which there are many. The subtitles pass so quickly that I was just getting the gist of the dialog in some spots, so I will need to watch again now that I have it down fairly well. There are so many roles to follow and all of them are interesting, so you don't want to let anyone fall away as he returns later in the film and you will want to remember what he was doing earlier in the movie. All are based on real people of the times, and very real events. As the story progresses I was caught up in the increasing action and urgency of the rebellion. The young officer who is so deeply involved and is such a zealot for the army continuing to fight is truly frightening as you can see some of this rabid resolve right now in some of these Jihad warriors in the mid-east. Just goes to show that Berserkers are not only from the days of Viking raiders. By the way this movie is not suitable for young viewers, it is matter of fact, but graphic in various death scenes.

Carol for Another Christmas (1964 TV Movie)

Now I've Finally Seen It ! ! ! !

First off I am a Rod Serling fan. Second I do not like this movie.. It is a once around as far as I am concerned. I know the story is not so cheery when the various ghosts visit and should end in a positive way with scrooge reforming and becoming a very pleasant person to know. In this version I don't think I would care to know him even after he has had his visits. It will shake you up, and make you think, but I have no desire to own it for secondary viewing. I was left feeling like the whole tale was a major bummer. It is very political and brings out anti-war feelings that were very strong in 1964. We were getting deeper into Vietnam, and of course Kennedy was fresh in every ones minds, so I am sure this hit hard with the message of this movie. I say see it if you are curious, but if you like the happier, upbeat versions this is not for you. By the way I don't like Scrooged either.

The Santa Incident (2010 TV Movie)

Plain harmless fun

Okay the acting isn't the best but it is made-for-TV. Hallmark style, Santa gets grounded, kids come to the rescue, baddie homeland defense guys are looking for him, and one big scary guy is tracking him, for we don't know what reason. Hide, chase and finally Santa is away safe, and all ends well. Suitable for all family if you don't mind explaining some of it to the wee ones as to how Santa can get knocked out of the sky, or come up befuddled on the ground. It explains it all, but you might want to add you own spin so your children will understand that Santa ALWAYS comes through no matter what the conditions might be. I enjoyed watching the bumbling Homeland Defense guys, kind of like Maxwell Smart or an Inspector Clouseau....

Still don't know how to take this Movie.

Give it a try, watch it more than once or twice before you decide. I decided it is not for me. Even though she is content in the end, with how she chooses to lead her life, I as the viewer have decided it is not a keeper for me. It is very real, with no guarantees that all will be happy and great at the end. It is reality to more than a few of us, and I just get sad to much watching it. It does have some humor, but it also had a lot of dark moments. I think I want something more like the family Stone or You've Got mail instead. Drama, and comedy. I do recommend everyone give this a couple of looks, don't just dismiss it out of hand, as it is quite deep.

a cute movie

an all family movie from the 60's If you were ever a horse crazy youngster and want to see a film with a bunch of beautiful horses and a Benji looking dog. here it is... although you will have it all figured out in advance, it is an entertaining, fun flick. all are happy, all ends well for everyone in this film. there is no downside unless you die from the sugar in it all. You will see a real young Kurt Russell as Dean Jones' daughters' boyfriend too, then you can check how he looks nowadays in his more mature adult roles, like Stargate etc. If you want to show your kids or grandkids a time when the hard facts of life were set aside in favor of some light entertainment and that all movies don't have portray "real Life" this is one of them. Disney was so good at bringing out fairy tales and just nice movies. Another thing i always liked was seeing events that do not occur anywhere around where i lived. Eastern style riding, the clothes, the events held and even the horses are alien to what we see out here in the western u.s. I am used to rodeos and quarter horses, and have yet to see an actual steeplechase, or sulky race or folks togged out for fox hunting. Even the jumping events that are in this show are not commonly found here in the rocky Mountains. So watching it is kind of extra fun, because it is not common here.
