Mea Culpa (2024)
Horrible
This movie was so awful that it almost seemed like a parody. The dialogue was silly and forced. The acting was absolutely atrocious. The story itself was convoluted. Nothing that any of the characters did in this movie made any kind of sense at all. I don't know who told Kelly Rowlands that she could act, but they lied to her. I kept watching because I thought that it just Had to get better. It got worse, which was hard to do since the first part of it was so very bad. Save your time. Some movies are so bad that it's kind of fun to watch them. This movie was just Bad. Frankly, I was surprised that it even got four stars.
Leave the World Behind (2023)
The movie was OK, but it's Not Long Island
Leave the World Behind is an OK movie.
But as somebody that lives on the East end of Long Island, it was very difficult to even focus on the movie, or the storyline, because the entire time all I could think about was how ridiculous it is to think that you could drive a mile in any direction, and not see anyone, or houses. There are millions of people living on this fairly small area of Long Island. It's so over-built here it's crazy. There's not all of that open land all around at all.
Most of this movie was shot in Upstate New York. The movie itself had something to say, and I get it. But there are So many people that will watch this, and feel the same way that I do.
Why didn't they just set the whole thing in Upstate New York, or a more open area?
Peaky Blinders: Dangerous (2017)
Adrienne Brody's bad Don Corleone Impression
This episode was ruined by Adrienne Brody's embarrassing Marlon Brando as Don Corleone impression. The story was great. Everyone was great in this episode. The writing was exceptionally well done. Adrienne Brody and his usual over-acting was worse than usual do to his terrible impersonation of what he apparently thinks is what a genuine mafia boss would sound like. I guess wearing the movie "The Godfather" was his only frame of reference. Truth be told, even though it was very clear that his performance was supposed to be based on Marlon Brandi's Don Corleone, it was like the impression a bloke down at the pub might do. Bloody Awful.
The Debt Collector (2018)
Why so many strange accents?
It seemed like everyone was putting on strange accents in this movie. It took me out of the story too many times for me to just get into the story.
There was no need for that.
Sunshine (1973)
She didn't want to live without a leg, so she left her child without a mother.
I watched this as a child, and even then I realized how selfish she was. If she had her leg amputated, she would have lived. But she decided to die of cancer instead. She left her child without a mother.
Life After Death with Tyler Henry (2022)
Grief Vampire preying on desperate people
Anyone can learn how to do a cold reading. Most people choose not to scam others. It's especially cruel to take advantage of grieving people. I'm disgusted that Netflix would have this scam artist charlatan on their network. They're as bad as he is for making money off desperate grieving people. Disgusting.
Taboo (2017)
Excellent Show. Should Have Continued.
This show was terrific.
The acting, direction, cinematography, stories, setting, costumes are all great. I waited a long time for a second season that never came.
It was confirmed by the producer that it was renewed for a second season in 2017, and was supposed to run for three seasons. I don't understand why it never happened.
Jo (2013)
Like a bad '80's detective show
Jean Reno is the only good actor. Honestly, the acting is Awful.
(He's also the only French person in Paris, apparently.)
The acting, stories, direction, American accents are all just terrible. Jean Reno is way too good for this. I felt like I was watching bad episodes of Hart To Hart or Charlie's Angels.
Dig Deeper - Das Verschwinden von Birgit Meier (2021)
Should've been a two episode documentary
The story itself was interesting. The narration was a little annoying because they kept the original German audible at the same time as the English translation. But the real issue is that, as usual, Netflix dragged the story out way too long. Two episodes would've told the story in a much more compelling way. Four episodes made it more of a chore to get through than the riveting watch it should've been.
Jiok (2021)
Could've been ok with decent special effects
The story had real potential.
The special effects were anything but special.
The story had real potential, unfortunately the CGI ruined it. It would've been better if the demons were invisible, Anything would've been better than what they used.
The First: Near and Far (2018)
An Eternity
At least it Felt like an eternity to get to the final episode. There was no Earthly reason for it to have taken eight episodes to tell this story.
They didn't even make any of the characters likable. The daughter was especially awful.
There was no payoff for sitting through this season. It wasn't science fiction, it was a drawn out soap opera.
The First (2018)
Should've been a two hour movie
The story could have been told in way less time. It would've made it a more interesting watch.
Dragged out way too long for the story it told....
It didn't need to be a mini series........
It was alright, just way too long.........
Locke & Key (2020)
Great Idea, Bad Execution.
This could've been great. But the writing is terrible. They made it into something that could've been on the CW network. Better writing would've made this good.
