It's fun even if you don't want to admit it
14 April 2023
There's so much about this movie I don't like.... But still, I've seen it so many times.

I don't like the Wayans's brothers to start with.

And, I'm a hard sell on American comedy.

But in this movie it gets quite hilarious, the script makes up for so much and it's very funny.

The acting that is most memorable (for me at least ) is Terry Crews, hilarious in every scene.

The makeup, the script, and that they (the Wayans's) are African Americans and can get away with so many boo boo words and jokes makes this a very pleasant humoures experience.

The rates are quite low but it doesn't reflect the whole experience of the movie, you can't judge it from watching a trailer, or the start of the movie.

The intro of the movie is the worst part, actually not funny at all and more at home at a childrens party. If you can make it through that, it's actually very good and funny.

Well worth the time.

Warning: Spoilers
This isn't so much of a review as a rant.

I've seen this movie so many times.

But it still gets better (a bit like Shawshank redemption) ¡ Dakota Fanning is getting better with every viewing, all the leads is carrying this movie to get even better.

Christoffer Walking who usually is a quite cynical guy is performing one of his best rolls.

He's all friendly and cuddly, gives this movie so much depth. Christopher Walking been around, I think this is his best and it's just a minor roll.

Rachel Ticotin doesn't know how not to be good, not a major roll but is adding so superbly.

Denzel.... This is just a prelude of what is going to come (The equalizer)...

So much depth, and though I like action, the connection with Pita is just so "feel good".

Revenge as it's dished out in this movie is so good.

I'm at an 8+ right now, another watch I'll guess it'll go up to a 9.

See it, Denzel and Walken at their best.

Differences in taste ...
3 December 2022
Seeing this has such a low rating according to the quality of the movie I felt I had to give some input.

I'm no reviewer, just giving my personal inputs.

During winter I watch quite a lot of movies, if I can't find one that looks promising (looking at IMDB ratings) I re watch another good movie.

Project power I've seen at least five times, tonight was about another re watch of "Nobody" or this one.

I think it's great, all the characters is good, Jamie Foxx is "Django" good.

I guess it's all about personal taste, I watched "Terminator 2 " three times in the movies when the local paper gave two stars out of five.

This is on the shelf for "what to watch when I can't find anything else".

Just about to do another re run!

See it at least twice.

Good if you know what you wanted.

Warning: Spoilers
I think the negative reviews are quite unfair.

If you expected "Indiana Jones", do your homework.. I gave it a "7" to compensate the low ratings watching it as a single male. As a single male it's quite OK, Dash progresses quite nicely.

This is a wonderful family adventure movie.

Letting Brad Pitt getting killed with a heafshot early in the movie is quite brilliant.

Those of you that have seen the Dolby Atmos version (it's a limited BD of Dolby Atmos Videos from Pioneer I believe) of Ricky Martins "la vida loca", filmed in some Latin country, can see where the influce to the dance of Dash and Loretta came from.

It's a light weight family movie the whole family will like.

Actors on overdrive
5 November 2022
When I think of Brad Pitt, this movie is the first I come to think of. I'm no Brad Pitt fan, just think he's OK and occasionally is very good (Fury).

But in this movie he's absolutely brilliant, as are - I would say all actors. It's like they all have their best day of acting.

Brad Pitt is extremely funny, George Clooney the same. Frances McDormand doesn't know bad acting, if she's in a movie it's usually good.

I love John Malkovich, did I mention that he is very funny too?

For some reason I never get around to write a review immediately after I've watched a movie, usually takes a couple of years and viewings.

There's movies you see once and forget about and other you see again and again.

This is one of the latter.

Very good, extremely funny.

Fans only ...
8 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I didn't write a review after the first viewing (all +8 movies needs a second viewing).

When you can shift your focus from the storyline (as you've seen it) and start to embrace the whole movie it start to grow exponentially.

The subtleties, the perfection of marrying the original movie into the new one is 10* .

Not just "talk to me Goose" and the appearance of Penny (Benjamin) No new fans will ever get THAT :)) The whole movie is a perfect mix of bringing in new fans and pleasing the old ones.

Watching it one time you might as well not watch it at all (remember - fans only ;) ).

It gets so much deeper the second viewing, the relationship between Mav and Ice, the heritage between Mav and Rooster (Goose) I could go on and on.

Jennifer Connelly, not only being the most beautiful woman on earth, is matching Tom as Penny throughout the whole movie, big credits on her.

Just the Val and Tom scenes are worth watching this movie.

I enjoyed the second viewing much more than the first.

My ex would never believe that I had a tear in my eye the whole movie....

Go see it, several times !!!

Could have been so much better
15 January 2022
I don't know where to start.

It could have been quite good, I think I might could have done it my self even.

I can walk around in my own house when it's pitch black because I know every inch of it, the main character can't move around in her own house without looking like someone at a party with a hood on her head being spun around ten times, and this goes on ....

1. Try to make the main character at least remotely likeable.

2. Get a main character that is either blind or can play it.

That about sums it up for what could have been a good one.

Gun powder burning slow
19 November 2021
I rarely write a review / comment.

But I almost didn't watch it because I didn't recognise any actors right off the bat. Reading the reviews made me watch it, I want you to do the same.

This western is really really good, not the "Hollywood all out shooting", more like fuse slowly burning.

Acting is very good, not that they're not good actors but the director got the best out of all of them.

If Tim Blake Nelson isn't awarded one of the several awards -me thinking Oscar, something's not right.

Not to take any credit from the other actors, who are all very good.

As someone else wrote, don't be afraid that there are no "famous" actors, Tim Blake Nelson will be on par with any of them (as will many of the rest of the actors).

Sit back and enjoy, and be ready for the twist...

No connection with book.
9 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Apart from John T Kelly and a couple of other names this has nothing to do with the book with the same title.

It's probably OK as an action movie, but fans of Tom Clancy and similar authors of military / ex military lead characters will be disappointed.

No subtle anything, just shooting and explosions.

"HALO" jump? Jeez, they go out on high altitude (hence the name - High altitude - Lo opening) jumps breathing oxygen, how do they do high altitude jumps a couple thousand feet above the ground/water (crashing just after being hit).

Too much Hollywood, too little Clancy.

Entartaining
13 January 2021
Go in to be entertained, leave your fact base (if you're interested in military, naval books/movies based on fact) at home. As said before, Gerard Butler, Michael Nyqvist is good. No complaining on the actors. I was entertained, quite happy.

Solid 7
19 December 2020
You get what you paid for. Didn't like Liam Neeson initially in the movies but I've warmed up to him, and now I like him a lot. He's like Bruce Willis or Arnold Schwartzenegger, you know what you'll get. Simple plot but all actors do everything well. Best surprise is Jeffrey Donovan (role Sean Meyers) , I hope to see much more of him, a regular "Agent Smith" as cool as you can be. A really entertaining movie on a Friday evening, maybe not one you'd go to a cinema for, but I wouldn't mind. Easy plot but all actors doing it very well.

Good movie in itself
23 November 2020
Adding review some 20 years after I gave the rating. Watched it again tonight. The movie is standing strong through the years. Sean Connery in one of the (small but still...) rolls I like him best. Letting out his Scottish ancestry. I guess all of you've already seen it, If you haven't, your in for a treat. The movie in itself is an 8, add a Queen soundtrack you've got a solid 9. "who wants to live forever" by Queen, put it in the movie, if you don't shead a tear, I don't know which movie will.

Depends upon taste ...
1 May 2015
We (my wife and I) gave it a solid "8". Maybe I should have given it a "9" ? For some reason we missed this movie when it was running on the cinemas. We've seen "Sommaren med Göran" more times that we can count, and love it. My brother saw it on our recommendation, he's response was a shrug and - Nah. If you like "Little Britain", "Friday nigh dinner", "The Inbetweeners" etc, you'll like this one too. The plot you've probably already read so I won't go into that. Right, just back on the computer from watching it a second time, this time with our children (10,12), thumbs up from them too :)

Just as the other series (+ The Inbetweeners movies) mentioned above, they grow on you, don't just watch them once.

Cheers,

Peter :)

Good movie - Warning to Lee Child readers
24 January 2015
I gave the movie a 7. It's pretty good or even a very good movie - if you've not read the books. I haven't read through all the reviews, I guess more of Lee Child's fans have wined already. But there's still the fact that the producers let a midget (Tom Cruise in comparison) portrait a giant. If you've read the books you'll know that that Jack Reacher is a heavy, very tall 6'5" (1.96 m) muscle bound giant, far from Tom Cruise 5'7" (1.70 cm). It wouldn't matter that much if the books hadn't put so much weight in the physical appearance of Reacher.

Anyway, I've always imagined a taller Jason Statham as Reacher.

Cheers

Horrible if you read the books.
23 December 2013
The good news is that most English speaking haven't read the books, which are extremely good, I've re read them more than five times. And here lies the problem..... Since I've read the books I know the plot, which somehow only pops up here and there in the movie making you sit and ask WTF are they doing that for ? This movie is a follow up on the first book/movie and have almost nothing to do with the second book. This review goes for the first movie as well. Worth watching (goes for both movies) if you haven't read the books, stay away from them if you did (goes for both movies), it will only make you confused and angry.

Buy the books instead!

Stay away from this horrible movie (and actors)
13 August 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Contains spoiler !!!

First; The only good thing about this movie is the ending, when one of the infected drags Angela (Jennifer Carpenter) away and finally makes her shut up. If our TV wasn't new (and expensive) I would've thrown things at it. My wife wanted see another movie after watching 10 minutes complaining on the horrible actors and Jennifer Carpenter specifically, I agreed with her but told her it actually got 6/10 so it can't be that bad. This is the first movie I've seen with Jennifer Carpenter and definitely the last, I will stay way clear of her (after looking it up I've actually have seen her in "White chicks" -a forgettable performance). I didn't read the reviews before we watched it and thought 6/10 couldn't be that bad, boy was I wrong. You could probably enjoy this movie if you can accept people doing illogical things all the time (like trying to cuddle Briana while she's drooling white stuff, completely forgetting that everyone else of the other infected attacks and bite you when they do like that), the list of stupid things the characters does goes on and on. Coping with Angela's (Jennifer Carpenter) screaming and retarded noises the last half hour is the worst part though. Did anyone giving this movie anything more than three stars actually see it before they gave their vote ?

I ended up shouting at the TV that the cameraman should hit her (Angela) with the camera to make her shut up. In the end she finally shuts up, that was worth something (one star). Please read the other negative reviews because I can't honestly believe that anyone giving this horrible movie more than three stars actually have seen it.
