Teen Titans Go! (2013)
It's for kids but it's still a bad show.
I saw the reviews, that we should "separate this from Teen Titans, it's different", that "this show is for kids, you shouldn't be critical about it." Well, this review is going to judge the show for itself instead of comparing it to the old show, as well as list my examples on why I believe this show doesn't deserve any excuses to be so...pathetic.
Graphics: Terrible Flash. However, as people have said, we can't always judge graphics. There have been good cartoons with pathetic graphics. So I won't just start blasting on this show for the graphics. So let's move on to the main issues I have with this show.
Characters: All of the characters are obnoxious, some of which, are even inappropriate for kids to adopt as their behavior, and that's counting them as their own characters. No Teen Titan comparisons. Robin, the "leader" being the perfect example of where I'm getting at. He's a complete control freak who freaks out whenever things doesn't go his way. He also has a very...very annoying and creepy obsession over Starfire. He'll do anything to get her attention, and even freak her out in some episodes. It's one thing to have a crush, it's another to clearly display it in the creepiest way possible. That doesn't exactly sound like a "kid" friendly show to me. Beast boy and Cyborg are almost exactly the same, complete and utter jerks to the other Titans. They'll torture them with cringe songs, call them lame, and are completely stuck up. They are always loudly screaming, and it makes me want to rip my ears off whenever they're on screen. Starfire and Raven I don't really have any issues with, only gripe is how much of a ditz Starfire is.
Comedy: Ah yes, the "comedy". From smacking each other's butts, to shaking their butts. Cringe songs. Beast boy worshipping Raven's legs(yes this is a real thing, another kid appropriate thing for a kid's show right?)This is definitely top tier comedy. This is why I explicitly you can't give this show a pass for being a kid's show, because it fails at that massively even in the comedy terms. It's a shame my young cousin doesn't find this show funny, and immediately turns the show whenever it comes on. The comedy is one dimensional: it's not funny. It's just random stuff being thrown at you, with the premise being rewashed over and over. I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to change the channel because I couldn't handle this gutless and trash humor.
Why "this is a kid show. You can't critique it" doesn't work: There is multiple episodes that isn't very "kid friendly" to say the least. One example I already gave is Beast Boy having a leg fetish for Raven's legs. It's...as disturbing as it sounds. That wasn't just one outlier though, they continue this into another episode, this time it had the titans kissing their muscles disturbingly. Then, working out their legs, and the entire town having a fetish for all of their legs. These two examples don't exactly sound like a kid's show to me in terms of kid humor. There are other examples, but these are the major two that come to mind. This show has clear adult themes mixed into the bag, so it's fair game to critique this trash pile of a show. Even if it didn't, every show deserves criticism to improve. If people don't give their opinions on a show, the creators won't make any improvements. Look at the sonic movies as a great example: we made our opinions known, and things got fixed.
Why I recommend not watching this show: The entire show is nothing but a cringe fest. The characters constantly scream almost all the time to the point it makes you want to bang your head against the wall to try to tune it out. I actually got headaches binge watching this show to get this review out. It's *that bad*. Cringe songs(Waffles Waffles), butt slapping and shaking "jokes", very unlikeable characters, questionable plots in each episode, the list just goes on. An example of one of the episode plots involves the Titans literally goofing around in the bathroom, only for the "bathrooms" to apparently become sentiment enough to get angry, and fly away. Nonsense like that is why people like me call this show trash. I heavily advise you to not watch this show: both you and your children. It doesn't teach good lessons(Girls has cooties, if you're smart you're boring etc.), it has a good amount of inappropriate jokes for the age intended group. It's just an overall mess of a show...and I beg of you to don't watch this show. It hurts.
That Girl Lay Lay (2021)
Trash, just like Young Dylan.
I don't know what's wrong with Nickelodeon trying so hard with these sitcoms. First Young Dylan and that's terrible, and now this. It's honestly dry at this point. Horrible acting, unfunny, horrendous acting, that dang laugh track playing after every single line that isn't funny..etc. I usually type out long reviews, but I'm gonna keep this brief and say what the other posters have said: don't torture yourself like we did. Save your braincells, stay *far away* from this. It's not worth the cringe of pain.
The Astronauts (2020)
Sigh....why Nickelodeon Why....
The commercials alone pushed my interest away already. You can't just keep shoving a show down someone's throat for so long. Just too many versions of the commercial. Plus, the premise is kinda overdone, but, they play the whole sympathetic card. I guess you can count these as spoilers, so I'm going to put them in spoiler.
Basically, a group of kids listen to this one kid to board the spacecraft and that it'll be awesome. They sneak onto the craft and got launched into space. That's the main thing, they didn't want to be smart, and got what they deserved. Instead however, the show wants you to feel bad for these kids from the look of things. One Commercial shows a girl drawing a heart on the window, and the other has another girl saying that she's scared, and just wants to go home. These two commercials alone tries to play the sympathy card as if we should feel bad when it's clearly their fault in the first place. So why should I feel sympathy if they did something dumb? To put it into perspective, none of this is the kid actor's fault, it's the horrible script writing.
Nickelodeon: stick with the cartoons, your live action things usually never go well. This I can say with confidence, is going to be one of them.(not as terrible as Young Dylan).
Update: I decided to give it a try, and well, we already have a few problems. They got launched 1000 miles, no protective gear or anything, yet were perfectly fine after that? No injuries? Then, we have this one girl named Sammie I believe, who knows every single thing about the ships, how to fix it, and the other kids can do it perfectly in one go. We do get told she was around astronaut equipment when 5. However, what parent, or let alone, facility member, would let a 5 year old let them touch everything to know all of this. It just makes no sense. I thought they were untrained, but they aren't looking untrained. They're literally contradicting their premise(which wasn't a good one in the first place).
Yeah, like I said, this is going to be another failure live com of Nickelodeon. Avoid it.
Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2018)
First Teen Titans, The Original Ben 10, Now The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?!
I grew up watching the 2003 version of the TMNT. I'm pretty almost all of us that grew up seeing this version can agree it was awesome as all heck. The theme music, the lessons, the fighting, the plot, everything was just beautiful. 2012 wasn't as good in my opinion, but they kept to the concept of what TMNT is: a dark evil lurking, the turtles slowly learning the harsh decisions they made, or their main weakness(an example being Donatello always thinking before he attacked, the plot gives him a villain to fight against that could read his mind.). This was of course, combined with comedic moments at times, but always reminded us that the plot is supposed to be dark themed.
Now when I saw the commercials for this "reboot" of the TMNT, I did like the animation, but I didn't like the character designs, nor the new personalities. I did give it a chance of course....that was my first mistake. Where do I even begin...
1. Characters: All of the characters either got their personalities completely destroyed or some is just missing altogether. Who's missing? Shredder and Krang, why? They were replaced by an uninteresting main villain. Let's dissect each of these "Characters".
Leonardo: He used to be the leader, the oldest of the turtles, and was constantly fighting the constant pressure of being the leader. He was cool-headed, calm most if not all the time, and was there for his brothers as best as he could be. What happened? Now he's a smart-witted sarcastic dunce that constantly makes cringeworthy jokes/puns 24/7. It drives me nuts every time I have to hear them. He's also...not smart, as in FAR less smart than the original ACTUAL Leonardo. I apologize for the capitalization, but this show honestly crushes the franchise I loved. There's this one commercial where he says "only one thing a normal smart person would do" while in...pajamas? Then he bursts through the wall(not joking) screaming something I can't comprehend. He's pretty much Michelangelo(be prepared to read this a lot), except he uses One Katana unskillfully? What the heck happened? He used to use two, and proficient as can be with them(I know how).
Raphael: First off, his new design looks dumb. Why the heck is he so big? Secondly, he's the leader in this one. He's also pretty much Michelangelo, except more not smart than the rest. He's also not the red rebel he's supposed to be, but instead, a failure of a leader that consistently fails at making plans that always go "wait what're we doing again". The original one was, as I said, is a hot-headed rebel that had to learn to use his anger in a more productive fashion. He was also the one that came up with sly sarcastic remarks, while insulting almost everyone around him(he cares for his family and friends though).
Donatello: He's probably the only one I can maybe stand in this show, since he at least still sticks to his smart one routine. However, that doesn't mean he won't go Michelangelo mode every blue moon(out of character of the original Donatello.).
Michelangelo: Nothing much changed, except he's even more of an airhead. Michelangelo was always the carefree one since he's the youngest, but he knew when to get serious, and also had his smart moments from time to time. This one, like the others *don't*. This leads to more headaches, not more laughter.
Splinter: He's not the wise Sensei that teaches important lessons anymore. He's instead a lazy fat dunce that doesn't treat his sons with love. I saw one episode where he beat them up....for no reason.
April: There was no need to change her skin color. Ya could've just added a African American girl in to shake things up. She's also far too impulsive now. The original April was at least smart enough to come up with great plans.
The Art is terrible, especially for the Turtles with Splinter. Each turtle are different species, meaning not that same close bloodline from the originals. The heads are blocky, and shaped so weird. Don't even get me started on Splinter.
The new plot is also uninteresting, I don't even bother trying to keep up now. If there even *is* one.
Another good franchise destroyed by these modern disgusting reboots. Teen Titans, Ben 10 and now TMNT. Heck it *is TT Go* just with TMNT slapped on it.
Stay far away from this show, that's my two cents. Go to Hulu, watch the 2012 TMNT instead of this garbage.
Joker (2019)
This movie is beautiful, Joaquin Phoenix Would Make Heath Ledger Proud
This movie is beautiful. The message they deliver is immediately felt: it's portraying our society as a whole in the movie. This shows us exactly how some people are treated with disrespect, and being completely isolated as if they're not even a human being.
Not only that, but Joaquin Phoenix's portrayal as Arthur Flex is astounding. You can see the high amount of time, and effort he's put on to being this character. He really hits home in the laughing, shows Arthur's struggles immensely with society in every scene. Phoenix also does an amazing job showing the descent into madness slowly, which just makes you feel even more terrible for the character Arthur Fleck, and what society had done to him. He really might've made Heath Ledger smiling down at him, saying: "you've restored my Joker legacy".
Speaking of the descent into Joker, that was also handled very well. We first start off seeing Arthur as a weak, willed character. He slowly walks up the stairs in a weird, almost saddened way. He has a shaky voice, and almost zero confidence in himself. Arthur was pretty much broken down: a human that society treated as non-existent.
However, when he becomes Joker, we immediately see he's happy as can be, dancing to his own music in his head down the steps as shown in the trailer and the movie. He actually feels more confident, not scared to express himself, albeit in a twisted way of course.
I suggest you give this masterpiece a watch, you won't regret it.
The Loud House: Really Loud Music (2018)
Another copy Episode of a Certain Cartoon I know.
Remember the Amazing World Of Gumball? Yeah they already did this where *Everyone was singing*. Just *STOP*, use your own material *PLEASE*. Enough is enough already.
The Loud House: The Loudest Thanksgiving (2018)
If I could I would give this a 0
Honestly the episodes are getting worse and worse...and this just proves it.
I'll sum it up: food fight on thanksgiving day: your welcome. It's just arguing again, except this time who cooks better...you call this amusing?
Lip Sync Battle Shorties (2016)
This show is...pretty bad
The problem is that this show is called "lip-syncing" battle shorties. So...why aren't they attempting to lip sync to the song..?
Point is, this show doesn't follow the name it's called, it's just kids dancing. Due to this, we can say this is a worse version of Britain's got talent, and so you think you can dance. My point of view? Stay away from it.
Keep It Spotless (2018)
What type of game show is this even...
The game is simple: to not get a ton of paint on you as much as possible. But it just doesn't sound or look interesting/fun. I tried to watch an episode of it but it just had my mind always questioning: "what is this that we're watching?"
Knight Squad (2018)
Why is all of the new Nickelodeon sitcoms ending up like this....
The title describes it all. It's just another failure of the recent sitcoms Nickelodeon has been dishing out now. The general premise of this show is about two main characters, one who is a princess that wants to be a knight and doesn't like acting with royalty(geez it's not like we had any princess not liking their royal descendants), and another who is just a common boy who cheats his way into knight school. Both decided to keep this a secret. Now let me tell you why this premise is silly. 1.) A similar concept was used in another horrible sitcom(cough The Thundermans cough) where both main cast gets tired of their old lives, so they try something sneaky/stay low to avoid being exposed for that secret they're trying to hide. Both are direct copies of The Incredibles in different ways and just falls flat trying it.
2.) The laugh track just goes on and on and on. The "jokes" aren't even funny yet the laugh track just gets played every 4-5 second interval that my brain feels the need to explode. Half of thred "jokes" try to use gross humor most of the time it seems that or it isn't even one.
My advice? Stay away from this show as far as possible, don't make yourself suffer like we did.
Crashletes (2016)
Good thing this show is cancelled.
This show was a horrible idea to begin with, see Nick? Think before you do.
Massive Monster Mayhem (2017)
This is just a copy of the good game show known as American Ninja
This title says all, it just copies the obstacles from American Ninja just with kids doing them and a disgusting host that basically makes me facepalm everytime he says something or every time he's shown. *THIS* is the bad guy that we're going against? *this* is the same guy that's the leader of all of them? Please. He's brainless at best.
Watch American Ninja, not this copycat of a show if you want entertainment. Some of the things this show does *doesn't even make sense* like the kids suddenly getting crazy big and they're competing to *destroy a city for points*? That's just stupid, I thought they were here to save us, not cause more harm.
Double Dare (2018)
This show is *exactly* why sometimes making remakes is a bad idea...way to go
This is hilarious: you tried to bring back double dare, but the new host isn't even all that good. She in fact makes me cringe real bad just by viewing the commercials. Even just watching her host the show gives me a headache. Just as the reviewer TruthHurtsGood said: it's loud, boring, and double the lamness. Know why the original host is even on this show? *He's a marketing tool being used basically*. Remember Crashletes? He's just there to make past viewers who watched the original Double Dare feel good to see him again. But this is just horrible...stop the nonsense already. I also noticed just like someone here some hints of feminism from this "host" and it's tiresome seeing it.
Don't watch this show, don't waste your time like others/myself who are sensible here did to inform you about this show. My younger sisters can't even stand the show, you're better off looking at Jeopardy instead of this terrible remake.
The Loud House (2014)
Sigh....This show is getting less and less funny now. Not even *close* to being better than Spongebob like some people are saying.
This show is hilariously overrated, here. I see tons of 10/10s, yet when I turned it on for my youngest cousin he asked me: "Can you please turn this channel, I hate this show." I dove deeper and I see *why* he has such disdain for this show. For one: the animation. It's not bad bad, but it's *next* to teen titans go. That in itself is an accomplishment. The graphics are good I will admit, but holy shoot the animation barely even matches the graphics. I had sometimes where I paused it
during sometimes and the animation was so messed up that the character wasn't even *There* yet. That in itself is messed up.
Another thing that chased me away from liking this show is the characters themselves: let me dissect each of the characters just to let you get an understanding on what I mean. By that I mean *all* eleven of the kids.
Lincoln: While I found him *okay* at first, he just started become one of the biggest douches that I have ever seen in my lifetime. Every episode you can see that the guy is 90% selfish and either destroys his sisters items (Lynn's bike for example which guess what the reason was? *To look cool instead of literally telling them what was what.*(he just provides a excuse saying it was his sisters and that he was cool). By the way, he *still* ends up not being able to hang out with them because Lynn has them as her followers at the end of the episode) or even his own parents (for example, losing Rita's novel, which he got lucky that she forgave him and wanted to start a new one which is *cough plot armor cough*. Or that time where he convinced his sisters to ruin their dad's dinner(I don't care if they were tired of it as well, it was *his* plan to sabotage the dinner) and got what they wanted. He didn't even *care* about the tight budget, and I guarantee you that none of the sisters would have thought of that if he wasn't there to mention it.). Overall, this guy thinks he's cool and a hotshot, yet he isn't. Heck he didn't even trust his partner *Ronnie Anne* when they were caring for an egg...that in itself is just wrong of you dude. So, 90% jerk, you're not cool Lincoln so stop trying, you're just making yourself look pathetic.
Lynn: The stereotype of the jock persona, the one that loves sports and wrestling.(which comes to my other quirk of the fact that they always yell out what their stereotype is, an example being Lynn). Now lynn is just as annoying as Lincoln, just times the fact that she always has something smart to say (calling them weak for not catching something or doing anything she can do with ease, which isn't even funny) and the fact that she is 90% of the time the sister that threatens someone into talking with violence or just by belittling the others and you got Lynn in a nutshell. Don't know how that even comes to a likeable character. My only issue is that she is way too loud almost all of the time and whenever she is shown on screen she always has to announce that she loves sports by her actions and how competitive she is as well. It's annoying: stop it. Also, she's one of the many bad quirks this show gives me, but let's keep that for the plot section shall we?
Lucy: Gothic stereotype: most sentences *she* says always has to end up being gothic....seriously? Another recurring thing that annoys me is when she says things like "I'm here" that's really old, and it isn't funny at all that the family forget about her when counting each other. Not just that, but every gothic quote she makes just has my body itself cringe so bad I feel like I was going to go to the hospital. No it isn't that I don't like gothic people, it's the fact that *everything* she says has something to do with being gothic. Just *please* stop I'm begging you. Say something that isn't part of you being gothic(Nor the topic.)
Luan: This is probably my most hated character next to Lincoln himself. Basically imagine the Joker, but just that all of the jokes fall flat and she doesn't kill. That's Luan in a nutshell. Luan's jokes in every episode is just terrible, and it isn't funny. The running gag is supposed to be that the rest of the siblings sighs after hearing her pun jokes. What's supposed to be funny about that? It just shows that *they* are having the same feeling that I am hearing her jokes: wanting to die. That's how bad her jokes is. But what really makes me disdain her, is when April Fools comes about. She just pretends like she's the Joker in that she plans her pranks to a large extent, but all of them just seem so easy to know when the prank is going to happen or what trap it is awaiting the family. Just stop: your pranks aren't funny, your jokes aren't funny, and you don't have that much of a brilliant mind at setting things up as you think you do. Anyone who is watching her prank-a-thon knows exactly what is coming next despite it being *blatantly* obvious the family somehow *still* falls for it. I guess plot armor? I don't know but it really does make me contemplate at night wondering where did the world go wrong at Nickelodeon.
Lisa: The Geek Scientist Stereotype:The only real issue I have about her is that she constantly has to show that she's a genius by pronouncing words that others don't know and then being all condescending on them for not knowing. I like smart people in shows, but not the type that has to constantly condescend on others because they know a word they don't. She was looking good at first, but after seeing her do it again and again, I just gave up on her. If she stops being so condescending and actually shows something else, then maybe I'll start liking her. But right now? No.
Lennie: The dumb, fashionable, blondie stereotype. This has been done so many times that it annoys me now. You're not being unique, it's just the same jizz that others already did. Seeing Lennie being *Crazy* stupid has actually made me feel like my brain cells was disappearing slowly each time I heard a word come out of her mouth. I'm just like: "there's no way she's this dumb" but unfortunately, she is. It isn't funny whenever she mistakes things, stop running that miserable gag. It's boring as heck up to this point now. Sorry Lennie, but due to your incredibly low IQ, I can't deem you a good character.
Lola: The "I'm a princess so you should bow to me and I won't do any physical work at all" stereotype. This is bland over all, if you watch any episodes, you would see what I mean. All she ever does is condescend others and tries to be scary as heck, yet I'm just sitting here wondering why the heck is everyone afraid of this little girl. You aren't scary Lola. That's my main problem with her: she tries too hard to be scary as heck, yet I don't feel any fear whatsoever or a "oh dear lord". There's also her beauty issue, which seriously ticks me off because nobody really cares about how beautiful she is. Yet every time, she always has to mention it or just be condescending overall. Not a very good character if you ask me.
Luna: Rock on dude stereotype: Everything she says is either "dude" or something along the lines of rock and roll. Any other good information you could provide Luna? You know, helpful ones or something that is on the topic. What really makes me feel uncomfortable is the fact that every single time they do something like cleaning up the house, they have her play music in the background. Which really got old real fast, just stop...please.
Lana: The engineer/Dirty stereotype: This one speaks for itself, she just does all the poop and unfunny gross jokes. That's enough to make me dislike her as a character as a whole.
Lori: My third most hated character. Lori is the stereotype of teenagers: texting and on the phone all the time. My main issue is her obsession with Bobby, like can we stop with that for *one* moment please? Why does every word you have to say have to mention either texting or Bobby. It's bland and gets real annoying real fast. Reminds me of Sakura from Naruto and her crush on Sasuke. Just makes me sigh and wonder what in the heck were they thinking when they made her. And finally...
Lilly: Bland, very annoying baby. She always cry whenever things don't go her way, she isn't cute: she annoys me because each time I see her on screen she either makes the other siblings lives miserable or just wants to be a pain for even the entire family. Just stop: cry sometimes, but not all the time whenever things don't go your way or throw a tantrum because Lincoln won't take you to the grocery store.
Bonus would be Clyde, because he's just a weirdo who has a crush on Lori.
Plot: Everything that had happened in the past, is just being reused over and over again. Take the butterfly effect for example, The Amazing World of Gumball and Spongebob already did that. Make your own ideas already. The other reason why the plot is bad is because Lincoln is 100% the butt of the jokes of things. He's portrayed as a coward almost *all the time* and gets easily scared by any of his siblings. I thought you were a man with a plan: why are you so scared of so many things?! It's incredible this gag is still going.
Anyway, watch anything else than this show...please do.
