The Shape of Water (2017)
this deserves at least a 9!! Nice homage to the creature of the black lagoon
I finally got the chance to watch this movie over christmas days.
I really love it. Very good production design, great main actress, a beautiful score.
Those people who give this movie a bad rating, i don't understand what's wrong with you. This movie made left me with tears in my eye. It is just a beautifully told story and visually perfect.
To my mind it deserved the oscars quite rightly.
Fargo (2014)
Congrats to everybody who made this happen
I hope anybody has seen the original movie by the Coen brothers.
While the first season can be seen as a adaptation of their work, one can say that the density of its thrilling and funny moments was as good as in the movie.
I was totally hooked by the 1st season and even more by the 2nd.
The creators, showrunners, actors, the detailed work of the whole team...they have done a splendid job altogether and made a lot of series-fans happier.
True Detective (2014)
can not wait for season 3
I am still regarding the first season as an absolutely milestone in the history of series. To me it is the best season of any series ever. Closely followed by the 2nd season of Fargo.
The trailer of Season 3 looks so promising. I'm really looking forward to this.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2017)
There's nothing better than an evening with Mrs. Maisel
I was completely surprised by this series. After recognizing the good ratings i gave it a try and couldn't stop watching. While the first season is just awesome, the second one keeps the good work up.
The whole story is so well staged, with a perfect casting, terrific set design, good music and a splendid main actress. One of the best series of the past years.
Parfum (2018)
quite a dark gem
This series is NOT AN ADAPTATION of Sueskind's outstanding novel. It is just loosely inspired by its ideas. For those fellas who might complain about it and exspect some Grenouillian time travel into modern times: don't watch it, spare us your disappointment.
Those people who like dark atmospheres, detective stories with twists and unsettling characters will love this brilliant piece of art.
And that's what it is, a piece of art. Cinematography and production design really did an impressive job by creating such aesthetic beauty in so many pictures, sometimes resembling enigmatic paintings.
All characters are lost and seem to loose its ground beneath their feet. The narration is slow paced with long camera shots. The surroundings are grey and dreary but it matches perfectly with the story, which at some point leaves the viewer disturbed due to its explicit and gory scenes, underlined by a fantastic score.
This piece of series does not take you by the hand, delivering evidences piece by piece, and has a rather unconventional way of story-telling.
Just watch it in one row and get caught in a maelstrom of this cold, sad and misty world, where everybody has to hide something.
I really loved it.
