Bodies (2023)
10/10
Know you are loved
31 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
To start with a metaphor: Some singers do not have a perfect pitch. If you're gonna dismiss all their song, you will miss out on some great ones.

The timetravel science in Bodies is not perfect, but do not let this keep you from enjoying this great story. It is not about timetravel. It is about love. And the series tells many stories about the absence or presence of being loved. All wrapped in a sort of sci-fi-detective.

In 1890 a young girl loves an older rich man. Another man loves his wife and daughter, but secretly he loves a man too.

In 1941 a man has no family or loved ones. He lives a selfish life untill he meets a young girl to take care of.

In the present a teenager is raised without love. He is in trouble. A woman wants to help him, out of love.

In the future a woman lives alone, without love. At some point she realises what she has missed.

And there are many more stories like this in Bodies. There's a great scene when the gay man from 1890 and the future woman are both in prison. 'Why did you join the police? '

In the real world, scientist have not solved the time-travel paradox. A graphic novel is not going to solve it either. It does show us a chain of events with causes in the far future. Or past.

Should I be sad or angry?
29 December 2018
First of all, this movie is nothing like the original book. Secondly, it's nothing like the original movie either. It is a fantasy movie with a completely different story? So why did they use names and symbols from those originals? Now, everybody has expectations and are going to be disappointed. They created new characters and new stories. They should have used new names.

Looking at it as a new story, it still is quite bad. Basically the story is too random. Too many things are happening without a cause or reason.

If you're looking for a deeper lesson or meaning, like in the book: there is none.

I'm sad this movie is not the new fantasy world it could be. I'm angry the makers used an original piece of art to sell their garbage.
